I've always loved this piece! I was getting really excited as the opening built up, then the lion roar.. That was an amazing touch!
You know those videos which start saying "WATCH WITH HEADPHONES"? Well, this is one of them.
"Watching" this video would be kind of bland, what matters is the music.

Aaah...good ol' FF8. I always respected that rock and gothic feel it has.
I love this one-and I love that you preserve the original vibe of these songs. In this one, the pronounced drums are a must! I heard another remix that diminished the prominence of the drums and it just wasn't the same. This is the best remake I've heard so far!
this song has the like.. classic, almost MIDI-like guitar sounds in it that remind me of classic games like KKND and Perfect Dark. Great rendition all round.
This track reminds me heavily of Legend of Dragoon, I love it.

Me too. I'm 30, grew up playing these games. And I've played through 7, 8 and 9 numerous times. And I always make sure I unjuction what I need and keep aura lion heart in the holster just to make sure it's a challenge. I'm a total fanboy, I guess it brings me back to my childhood before I knew all the secrets and grinded the bosses out the old fashioned way.

Great version, still want to see a version with authentic guitar sounds and not synthesized guitars put through pedal effects. Still, very awesome. I'm sure those versions are out there, I just haven't actively looked. Maybe I should try.

@BitSymphony Have you ever listened to "Awakening" from the Final Fantasy XI OST?' I feel it's one of the greatest pieces I've listened to, though I really am a sucker for string and percussion. If you haven't, I highly recommend having a listen, and possibly trying an arrangement of it.

I love this remake. But I gotta say that I don't get it, why do people love the melody so much? I don't think it's bad but it's a bit boring (the original ), the other battle themes of ff8 are way better

I can understand where you're coming from with the rest of the other battle themes. Maybe because you only hear this theme once & only until the very end, facing final boss. It's like do or die situation. It is the beginning of the end after a long journey. Like the guy wrote earlier. Its like you're being hunted & primal.
