One of BTS’ best songs in their discography. I like how the director filmed this mv. The choreography fits perfectly with this song.
there's a lot of references to the movie black swan with natalie portman. the movie features natalie portman as a ballerina competing for the main role of the "good" white swan vs the "bad" black swan. the song is about the fear of losing your passion (being an artist). the lyrics are very deep and interesting. bts went through this identity crisis during the pandemic in 2020 and released this masterpiece.

Lmao y'all never seen that ballet movie Black Swan?? Y'all have gotttttt to see the version of Black Swan with the dance company choreo. Man that shit made me cry when it dropped. As a debut Army, idk that song and the whole video release they did this comeback just did something to me, the artistry is insane. Agree with another comment that this song is so underrated.

So glad we finally got this💜💜yall should react to the other MV, its a dance performance by a dance company to an orchestra version of the song and it starts with a quote "a dancer dies twice- once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the most painful". Basically the song is about BTS and their fear of losing passion for the thing that's most important to them, making music and dancing. It came out in the MOTS7 album and is one of their most unique songs in my opinion
Black swan is inspired by the movie with the same name(black swan). It's about the members talking about their fear of losing their passion for music and how that will be their first death if there is a day when music no longer make their heart beat faster

"Black Swan" is basically a "reboot" of "FAKE LOVE", which is what their album, "Map Of The Soul: 7" (released in 2020) is. The MV was filmed inside a 1930's broadway theatre in Los Angeles, which is a famous theatre in the area. There is a quote by Martha Graham that reads: "A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful".

This song is about the music industry, when bts said in the mv if no longer there hearts beat and stop making music that will be their first death, you'll understand the mv only from the lyrics, so the black swan as a special swan who everyone misunderstood as a bad swan they represent it as new face of loneliness and unique cause among many white swans you'll always find this black swan who is alone and special that's why they choosed the name "black swan", also it gives the vibe of real musicians who does not make music as a job, bts said music and us is one it's their soul and a part of their hearts one's that part separates their no longer a live
I think it could be a play on the phrase "swan song" which is "a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement". This song is about a relationship ending rather than a death or a career ending.
