    • @tontrenner
      @tontrenner 2 года назад +7

      If the Macbook would be offered as a fair price, I would accept that ugly notch. ;D But since Apple is trying to fool us with these gimmicks and prices, I won't. Besides that, the US- and UK-keyboard layouts, are the only, that are useful for programmers like me. If u look at the german layout, it lacks of so many important keys, brackets and so on... Sorry Apple, try better pls. :)

      I've already picked the MBP with the 10 core CPU and 32Gig RAM and it's a beast, so much power for just about anything you wanna do, and I just love the screen and sound quality which are a quantum leap ahead of almost everything else out there.
      Nothing wrong with the Lenovo though, it's a great laptop that, in fact, I just full heartedly recommended to a friend who's in need of a new PC. But in many areas it just plays in a different league. Unless you need Windows on a daily basis or you can't (or won't) pay the MBP price tag (which is hefty for sure), for me the MacBook Pro is the one to go, and a no-brainer if you're deep into Apple's "ecosystem" (i.e. you also use an iPhone, iPad and/or other Macs).

      @@w2best I don't know exactly what's going on with that, a friend of mine had loads of trouble getting to work a panoramic monitor with a M1 MBP until it was solved by a Big Sur update. It seems like there's some fine tuning left to be done when dealing with external displays with an Apple Silicon SoC.
      I must say though that I connect mine to a LG 27" 4K display via USB-C (DP) and it works like a charm every single time, it powers the laptop at the same time too! But I totally see how this issue can be extremely annoying, or even a deal breaker, for some.

    • @w2best
      @w2best  2 года назад +2

      @@javiercaselli But do you have one monitor or two? That's the big question here! :D It seems impossible. It was impossible in M1 because of no support for it. But even on M1 Pro & Max it seems almost impossible to get a proper 1 cable setup...

    Mac is so unbelievably poor value compared to these Ryzen xxxxU machines. People are simply buying the brand, and that's it: not very rational IMO.

    I found the Ideapad with the following specifications, and I am wondering if it is overkill for a machine like this? Will it overheat and burn too early??
    AMD Ryzen™ 9 5900HX processor
    NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics
    32 GB DDR4 RAM, 1 TB SSD
    16” IPS-panel 2,5K WQXGA 1600p
    Price - 1500EUR

      Wow what a spec for the price. Imagine what the mac would cost with that spec :D I had the Macbook 16" overheat already with the 35w Intel CPU but I don't know how efficient the 5900hx is so it's hard to say. I suspect it will overheat though. :(

      @@w2best Yeah I couldn't believe the specs myself. Normally you'd pay double for them at least, which is why I won't get the Macbook even though it's a beautiful piece of equipment. Thanks for your input btw. I will have to think about this purchase. It's the only laptop I've found with the specs I want - at this price point! Also considering something like the Asus Zephyrus G15 which is of course more expensive. Have you reviewed that machine?? :)

    just got my ideapad 5 pro for 930eur-ish, it just popped on my local store a few weeks ago.
    i bought one after watching your thorough review of the product! the performance, screen and keyboard are just right for my needs.
    i can't believe there's not a lot of reviews for this device in the internet, the value is just insane for the price.
    keep up the good work, cheers!

    $2500 Macbook Pro 14" 1TB
    vs
    $740 Lenovo laptop. (70% cheaper than Macbook pro 14")
    It is like comparing Toyota cars vs AMG Mercedes cars which is not comparable.
