As a Rokinon user in the past, I simply hope they hold up their build quality and do not fall apart on its own anymore ... I've had some less than favorable memories about my Rokinon FE 35mm f/1.4, which broke itself all of sudden - Won't focus, won't react to shutter, and I can hear rattling sound from within lens body. I couldn't send it back neither because it was out of warranty after 1 year or so. I understand it was much cheaper than the GM 35mm f/1.4, but hell it was $400 thrown out of the window after all.
@@iDealMedley In my case, I haven’t dropped it at all - I had dropped other lenses and I have only myself to blame, but not this case. Some internal structure (likely a screw or something) decided to come off loose on its own
Very good review. Do you know if the Tamron lens profile also works with this lens effectively? Given what you've said about the Tamron distorsion, I would say no, but would like to know your input on it, given that I can't find a lens profile for it anywhere.
Interesting. Would like to see this in a Canon mount. Checked at B & H, it's available in Sony mount only from Samyang, Rokinon and Tamron. What is your thought's on a Canon mount version ? Am I just wishful dreaming ? Amazon has it , Samyang ,at $1189 prime day deal and the Rokinon for $1299 prime day deal.
I would love to see it on the Canon mount as well but I don't know if there are plans for that. They haven't made lenses for the RF mount in a while since Canon stupidly put a hold on 3rd party lens support. I hear it might be coming back but it will take some time before we see more lenses.
Canon almost sued 3rd party lens makers for making RF mount lenses last year for intellectual property infringement. In one word, they want to make money by selling expensive Canon lenses only - A stupid move IMO, but it isn't fair to put the blame on Samyang or Tamron here haha
I only used it after the update (I got the firmware before it was released on the website) so can't really comment on it but they said the AF performance in general has been improved

Nice review ! Subscribed ! Question for you.. The "Custom 1-2-3" switch... What does that control ? Or, how do you set that, those modes...

Great focal length!
Did you notice any bad or good things after v2 update?
I only used it after the update (I got the firmware before it was released on the website) so can't really comment on it but they said the AF performance in general has been improved
Just wonder, if you set your aperture at F2.8 will this stay the same when zooming from 35 to 150mm?
Yeah, it can be 2.8 at all range, and it goes up to f2 at 35mm
Thank you
To bad there more bad copy’s than good ones
what are the bad ones like?
And this is based on you testing all of them? I don't understand lol. Mine has been absolutely stellar and I also use it for wedding videography
@@RJMPictures i have the tamron and not is from people who bought it and send it back after few days
