Jeff is a great drummer. When I listen to the Joe Satriani albums he's played on, I concentrate on his rock steady but creative playing. His drumming is superb and sounds great.
Jeff is a great guy! We live in the same town and our kids (now in college) have been friends forever... one of the nicest, most regular, unassuming, could play in front of 25,000 people on a Friday and run into you in the supermarket and drink a beer at your bbq or playing at a bar with a pickup band in front of 60 people on a Saturday kind of guy... oh... and he's GREAT drummer!!
@@singgihsatch from the outside it seems that Satch wanted a new creative direction. I think it happened 2-3 albums ago when he changed a lot of the others in the band, and brought in new people. After 20 years or so I doubt there was any significant interpersonal differences
from what Jeff has told me (we are casual friends who live in the same town), he neither "left", nor was "fired", nor was there "drama".... I think Joe made albums when he made them, and Jeff played drums when he played them, and for some reason, there were scheduling conflicts. I really don't think there's much more to the story than that. Jeff was working on something else and told Joe he couldn't do it, so Joe (easily) found someone else good. Also, Jeff told me that Joe requested him since (c2013), but again, scheduling conflicts. These guys are professional musicians... I'm pretty sure there is no personal animosity, just schedules and life interposing.
also of note... he played keyboards w Satriani as well, and also guitar... I think I may have played guitar with him at a party once (he also on guitar), but parties tend to blend together in a small town. If you get the chance, check out his daughter Gabriella (Gabby) Campitelli, who will be on a lot of people's radar soon.... incredible vocalist and classical guitar player (and obviously, she can play percussion instruments)... and a really awesome young lady!

Thanks Ron, we love Jeff too! :)
The one that plays, what the song needs :) Passionate and a loss to the Satriani Band.
