Ooo! Let me know! Normally when I do predictive readings, I tend to do them conditionally... like, if someone says "when will X happen?" I'll read it something like... "this says you'll find a relationship when you've done the work of getting over the codependent bullshit that always gets your ass in trouble." For example. 🤣

Again...very helpful information. I began mentally going through the cards last night and doing this. Here's how it worked:
Because mental health is of interest to me, I went through all the suits and assigned certain cards (based on traditional meaning) particular struggles in mental health/illness/wellness. I wrote it all down as you suggested. Even came up with particular card combos to indicate deeper struggles/disorders. (Decided on a collection of cards that may indicate a need to go on suicide watch). While I'd never imbue the cards with the ability to diagnose such things...indications toward tendencies or potential struggles is helpful. The cards I've chosen are the cards that cry out: The heads up! Watch out! Further investigation is necessary. The cards...along with my own knowledge of the individual...my own intuitive sense of a person beyond the cards...I hope will come together in synergy.
I now have about 20 cards in total (some in combo with others) to answer those mental health questions when I have them. I left the majors to stand alone...I did not want to mess with the depth and wisdom of their messages...I want them to arrive as they see fit among the others. For me...only the Devil in combo with other cards will indicate what type of addiction/enslavement may be present. And if these cards all pop up in combo...even if I have not asked a question about mental health... I know the cards are telling me it's time to pay attention.
After doing that I went ahead and did a spread asking for a reflection re: the current mental health status of a dear friend. To my surprise...not ONE of the cards I had assigned came up. I expected at least one or two. Instead I got a spread indicating hope, healing, beginning plans for a future...and a deep hesitation in knowing how to make it happen. But no profound disturbances. At least...not last night.
It was such a clear message that delighted me. It was realistic and relieving. It accurately reflected the positive personality/strength of this person when they are not struggling. Had I NOT gone through the "rules" ahead of time....I'd have been looking for the hidden mental health messages in these positive cards. And I'd have been confused and wondering if I was reading the cards with enough insight.
The fact that NONE of my assigned cards popped up....gave me the freedom to read the cards as they fell. I did not have to wreck my brain and wonder. It came together naturally and made for a very clear and easy reading.
I'm now going through the court cards and assigning what they represent: male energy/female energy....initiation of action....full action...readiness to act...deep knowing...immaturity but desire to act, etc.
This one tip is going to clear up a LOT for me. Excellent!

I use my pendulum for yes and no questions. I like using Tarot with my pendulum I actually have people call me and tell me they have a question for my swingy thingy! LOL.
I think the pendulum with tarot is Brilliant...Swingy Thingies would play with the cards very well...NICE!
Yes and each deck has their own pendulum, I do have 3 special ones for more difficult questions. It helps when a card can be a couple of things I grab the decks pendulum.

Tom I think you would enjoy it I have a blue stone pendulum that just vibrates with energy that is one to take a look at. I was using pendulum and crystals before I was using Tarot. I am getting into Marseille decks which I contribute to you Tom and your book is on my list for next month too I would get it now but I am disabled so on a budget. Love your channel!

I actually did a predictive reading like this not long ago, completely by accident! I was having fun with my flatmates, reading their fortunes, and one of them asked when they're gonna find a job. I've pulled a four of something (can't remember) and The Empress. I didn't mean it very seriously, as I've never even thought of taking this approach, but said it's probably gonna be by the 4th of March as the numbers suggest. It turned out to be a little bit before, and their first day working was the 5th 😜

What you talked about in this vid is super interesting. It is related with how lefthanded perspective is inherant to tarot and has nothing to do with being selfish. All to do with being clear, assertive and responsable for oneself and goal oriented. Which, damn it, some times in life it's crucial.

This was great. I recall watching some videos when a tag was going around and one question was, "do you use spreads?" I remember one that said , no, i just throw some cards down, and if i dont understand i just keep pulling cards until i get an answer. Makes me cringe. Its like getting in your car and no plan where you are going. I agree with everything you said. My tarot guru/teacher would always say, a random question gets a random answer. Cards placement and what role they play is crucial! Its also frustrating when a querent says, oh just tell me anything. Ok, your a woman and your here to get a reading that is totally random. They would be like "huh". Well you wanted anything! Now if you were deeply gifted with true psychic abilities that you really didn't need cards then thats different. Great video!
🤣 Thanks!! I agree...the more intention you set at the start, the more you get out of it. It's like anything else. You are more likely to make a satisfying dinner if you know what you're making rather than throwing anything that floats by into the pot.

I think this was a great video subject...AwEsOmE! I enjoy your take on "yes/no" questions...they are generally a no-no for me. Prepping the mind/cards to recieve meaning for "what is so about___?" or "What do I need to know about ___?" has served me greatly in the past. You hint on Making Your Own Rules BEFORE you pull cards...KiLLer SpOt On!!!!!!! (and not just because I happen to agree, you presented your points very well...appreciated)

Great video, and a point that bears repeating. In the conversation about intuitive reading what's frequently lost is the power of structure and boundaries, and their capacity to help stretch intuition further by filling in a portion of the blanks before intuition ever needs to be called upon. Brava.

Yes, it's the lesson I've come to recently. Structure provides the basis for intuition to be even more powerful.
I can't even tell you how much this helped me. Short and to the point video that may have been the most beneficial out of all. It basically gave me technique that keeps me calm and confident enough to do the reading to me best ability.

Thank You Tom your knowledge of the Tarot is always helpful and very wise. My daughter asked me a question recently that really stumped me. " If in reading your Tarot Cards is thru spirit why do you think the Owjie Board is evil when it also contacts spirit?" For the greater good of all when i read she knows it is to be helpful and thru intuitive love however my Dad was on life support and after his death, my friend and i contacted "him" ? We both heard heavy breathing and it scared the living daylights out of me. I will not have one in the house and believe they are evil . If you get a chance Tom i would appreciate your opinion on this question. Thank you
Ahhh! That's a great question. I've actually never had a Ouiji Board experience -- in part because of stories like that one! I'm not a super spiritual person, but if I had to guess why that happens -- I'd probably say that as living humans, we have a sense that where we are and what we have is the best of all possible worlds, but when it comes to whatever happens after we move on from this particular emanation, we realize that we're where we're supposed to be... maybe even if that's just at rest... and when anyone disturbs that, maybe it causes frustration in the other world? Maybe that's why so many experiences are so negative, because we're trying to mess with something that doesn't want to be messed with? But that's only my guess. :-)

Hi Tom, is it the same thing with the significance of, for instance, when the King comes before the Queen it will mean something, but when the Queen comes before the King it may totally means something else??? Are these also boundaries we set up ourselves or there are guidelines for this...like, if it's a love reading from a business reading or something else...do you treat all of these subjects in your book or is there another book you may suggest in particular for this type of information??? I like how you've explained this particular subject, not an easy one to tackle. It works pretty much the same way with all divination tools, pendulums and so on...It does make sense, thank you!

It is strange but with the Thoth Tarot, this is especially true. It will tell me what it thinks I need to know and I can only control it some of the time. I will ask something simple what is the outcome of this action. I swear it will say "what the f*ck are you asking about that for when your marriage is crashing and burning." And yes, it can be that dramatic.
