Thank you, just what i need. I was gifted a pip deck. With a back ground in RW style decks it threw me for a little while. But i can see some advantage to the pip decks and a simpler approach to readings. My mind tends to over think when looking at all the symbology in pictoral cards.
Oh Im sooooo happy you have this! I made the devision to be far more mindful about my tarot purchases, and have decided this year to go back to basics. And so, I have 2 pip decks that I've been very tentative about reaching for. All your info is so helpful. Thank you Kelly. 🙌
Love the video and examples on your page regarding March of the Pips. My pip decks are Le Tarot Noir, Torot Marseille Camion-Jodorowsky deck, the medieval Scarpini Tarot and a mini Tarot de Marseille of Claude Burdel, Schaffhausen 1751. I also recently purchased the delightful and economical one you suggested in one of your current videos from Amazon. What I really like about the non-scenic pips is that I am not distracted by a picture which for me seems to narrow the meanings available to use. Non-scenic pips seem to give intuition more of a work-out then with number and suite comprehension, this assists in pin-pointing the interpretation of the cards being read. Everything presented has been great ! Thanks so much
You have some gorgeous ones! The Le Tarot Noir is definitely on my list!! I agree that there is an open quality and a sense of freedom that can come from non-scenic pips! So glad you enjoyed the video!!! ::HUGS::
Thank you so much Kelly for hosting #marchofthepips ~ I've learned a deeper, whimsical and even more practical meaning for each card this month. I awakened a love for reading playing cards too .... This month allowed me to bridge my "pip gap," .... I never thought of my first deck, Haindl (1990 oldie here ha ha) was a "pip" ~ this month also introduced me to Intstagram ~ of which I never thought I would go on ~ the tarot community there is so supportive, warm and shares so much knowledge..... Like yourself ..... LOOOONG "story" short ...... Thank you for all you do : ) .... signed, Truth in story addict ;)
Great video, always interesting to hear your perspective on things. Watching your videos is what helped me to gain confidence in reading the cards more intuitively, instead of just sticking to book meanings. Usually I read the 7s the same way you do, as 4 + 3, but with that 7 of Coins you showed, all I could see was 2 + 5, with the two coins at the bottom and 5 at the top. This really made me think of the number 7 in a different way, as finding and maintaining balance in the middle of a disruptive situation. Anyway, great video as always, thanks for sharing!
Thank YOU so much for taking the time to comment, I'm glad that you are stretching outside of book meanings (which are excellent resources), that is such a great feeling and YES it really does throw me off some times when the configurations are different--I generally try to see a 7 of coins in a deck when I'm deciding on it!
I loved you simple and direct methods/teaching in this video. It has given me new confidence to get a few pip decks. In the past, I've loved a few decks but saw thery were pips and I said no. I've been feeling more confidently lately and this video lets me know how doable it is. I just goit the tempest deck n can't wait for it to arrive. My next will be the pagan otherworlds tarot.
Thank you Kelly. This is my first challenge and its been fun. I dont post everyday but I have been playing along. The Arcana deck has been my deck. Awesome! Love the videos. Cheers...Kevin
I feel like I'm becoming more confident reading pip decks. I definitely will be continuing to read with pip decks after this challenge is over. I'm using the Brian Williams Minchiate Tarot (which is a personal favourite of Fortune Buchholtz) and it has a great guidebook on reading the Minchiate system. I've also been using the Favole Tarot (which I got in a trade), Trionfi Della Luna (both the Paradoxical Blue and Purple editions), the Haindl Tarot, The Incidental Tarot (trimmed down. It was a deck I go in a trade with Nobody Here), the Jodorowsky-Camoin Tarot de Marseille and my very first tarot deck ever (which I re-purchased a couple years ago) Beginner's Tarot by Kathleen McCormack (Out of print but it's still easy to find. I got mine for roughly the price it was back when it was in print). Anyway, thank you for creating this challenge. I'm considering doing "Sibillapril" but we shall see what happens.
I am so glad to hear you are feeling more confident reading with pip decks, and I have heard that the Brian Williams Minchiate Tarot has a good guidebook! How do you like the Incidental? It's on my list!
It's a great deck and looks great trimmed down. I love the suit changes and the fact that the aces are keys and the 10s are doors. It reads surprisingly well for me. I love how the court cards have specific names attached to them as well.
Thank you so much for all your videos. I'm just starting with tarot and they are so informative and interesting. I love how you combine different decks too... The only problem is that watching your deck reviews makes me want to buy so many lol
im loving this challenge. it was a great excuse to reconnect with pip decks after a rough start 20yrs ago. although its quickly turning into window shopping!!
Thank you very much for this great video. I'm reading RWS very long so I'm planning to start TMS and totally move away from RWS. Yes, RWS has got it's own meanings of cards, which can be totally diffetent in Marseille tarot, and totally different story at the end. So it is very nice and calm, you don't depend on usually cards 's meanings. And I'm planning to read Marseille as same way as you, numer + suit. I bought' 'The classic tarot' and 'Universe tarot of Marseille' already, and I'm planning to buy 'Golden tarot of Marseille' and 'Golden Visconti tarot' in near future. Please tell me do you read major and minor arcanas reverse in Marseille tarot, or all just upright?
Love your channel. Your #cartomancy is also of good quality. Cartomancy is wide or broad area to study. A life time of study and reading always ahead for all who study card reading. FYI my way also starts with reference with ride-waite tarot. In conbination with numerology. God Bless. 👍😊🌈🙏💛!!
I'm so glad you enjoy my channel and I appreciate your taking the time to comment! :D It really is such a broad subject and so many ways in which people approach it which makes it endlessly fascinating!!
The Truth in Story oh thank you! Lovely video, so so helpful! I really want to get my hands on a good TdM deck and a good book, so you can imagine how incredibly helpful your video was! Thanks so much!
Elements are something that were added in later and are another layer, in a modern context I would say that the element and the suit are now the same--but take playing card reading, elements are not part of the suit meanings there :)

I’ve been reading tarot since around ‘73 & I’m always learning something new. Thank you!
I'm loving doing this challenge Kelly, as a newbie it's really helping me to delve deeper, especially with my daily draw and journaling. x
Yay, I'm glad that you are enjoying it, I am just loving watching everyone's draws on Instagram!!

Absolutely loved this lesson. Complete and to the point. Makes alot of sense and a great beginning even if your not using a pips deck.

The Truth in Story oh thank you! Lovely video, so so helpful! I really want to get my hands on a good TdM deck and a good book, so you can imagine how incredibly helpful your video was! Thanks so much!
what is the name of the deck you used to show things growing in between the three pentacles? around 16.10 min. into your video?
That is the Ancient Italian Tarot by Lo Scarabeo which is a reprint of the Soprafino Tarot! It's one of my favorites :D
thank you. :-)
What cards are you using?
i so enjoy ur videos... thank u for sharing ur knowledge ... :0)
Aww thank you very much, I'm so glad you enjoy them!! :D
What is the difference between the suit and the element meaning? I though they were the same meaning.
Elements are something that were added in later and are another layer, in a modern context I would say that the element and the suit are now the same--but take playing card reading, elements are not part of the suit meanings there :)
Candis Stewart on FB. I don’t know how to change my surname on RUclips! Operator error, me being the operator...
👍😊💜!
Does anyone know what deck is she using here? Thanks
