I think one of the reasons why samsung is giving so much money back when trading in a foldable is for research purposes. It's easy to run tests on specific things in development but the real tests come from customers use after a couple years
They always do this. If anything they are being cheap this year because years past they've given like 100 - 150 credit towards accesories in addition to the trade in value.
They didn't give me that much when I traded in my Flip 3 for an S22 Ultra. They only gave me $400 but Flip 4 is $900!!! Now I'm trading that S22 Ultra for a Flip 5 and I'm only getting $700 for the S22 Ultra, lol.
The folds should have higher trade in value given how expensive they are. You can't justify spending $700 to upgrade from last years model when you really should only have to pay $2-300
Marques we need a Samsung Ecosystem video. You'd be surprise how far they've come in a the few years. Quickshare, App Continuity, Shared Clipboard, Multi Control, Second Screen, Drag and Drop, Dex everywhere, Smart Things, Windows Link! Definitely should make a video.
The thing Samsung's ecosystem is that it doesn't lock you in on just Samsung Products. Any Windows can use Phone Links with the Galaxy phones. Choosing Google Assistant opens the door to the Next Home products. That's why it is better than Apples ecosystem. Because it allows you to choose.
At the end of the day for all the customisation android offers, every company has products that are made compatible for iphone, I’d rather have world class security in a phone with great cameras and a sense of being a part of something special by being “locked in to apples community” than be a part of android who compete with each other , who can make the most weird looking phones, who have tons of bloatware apps , who’s phone security isn’t nearly as good, who’s software isn’t as simple to use , I mean you do realise android phones don’t provide security software updates for nearly as long as apple does, iPhone is simply perfect no one can compete with apples design quality for their products, the only reason I am with apple is because they have all these greats things. If windows still made phones they would still be better than android. Enjoy your poor people’s phones
@darrellbrown633 Ah, another person who thinks Apple is superior because they pay more money for less features / hardware, and because they do so, think they are better than the 'poor people'. The Fold phones are 1800 - 2010... you can buy an amazing gaming laptop for that price... it certainly isn't for poor people. Iphone 14 Pro Max (seriously, Apple you need to figure out something with your naming scheme) is 1100... so you can't even spend enough money to be as awesome as a Samsung user...

Agreed. Typing on the outer screen is a great experience, and when I want to consume media or do something hands free, I open it up. I'm watching this video and typing this comment with the 90 degrees half open fold. I get full screen two handed typing on the bottom screen and ⅔ of the topscreen for video. It's quite good.
It's actually much easier to hold a thinner fold. If u hold it side by side s23 ultra, that's almost a third wider. A pixel fold is slimmer than an iPhone mini or s23.
As much as the folded Z Fold 5 aspect ratio is said to be a problem, I found myself turning my Pixel Fold to the same orientation 90% of the time because of app support for wider screens (or lack thereof). Ultimately I sent the Pixel Fold back and went with Samsung because I think they got it right (at least for 2023). If you're basing a device purchase on the promise of it getting better (you really shouldn't), then the Pixel Fold is potentially a winner if Google invests in it. However, if you want something that is better for multi-tasking, has big screen support, is lighter in weight, and has really great hardware quality right now, then you should get the Z Fold.
I kinda do the same on my fold 3 but only when watching youtube, videos etc. Videos arent cut off as much when viewed in landscape orientatiopn compared to videos watched on the folds standard Horizontal orientation.
When you watch videos in landscape on the Pixel Fold, do the speakers fire from top and bottom rather than left and right? Wanted to verify and if so, I imagine this is a rather fatal flaw.
I have small hands and Samsung Fold aspect ratio is just the most comfortble both when used closed and opened for me. I think it's already well thought out. Had a chance to trial Ultra for a week and oh man how good it felt to be back on Fold.

Definitely true about the trade-in's. Got $400 trade-in for my S20 FE that I bought for $500 (after tax) 2 years ago new on a lightning. Ordered the Flip 5, which also offered another $200 off the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and the $50 Buds 2 Pro, no-one else would have offered that. No idea if i'll like the flip, but if I don't, i'm sure it'll be a much better trade-in value on something like a pixel 8 or next samsung then i would have gotten for my S20.
@@Micg51 The only complaint i had for my S20 is the screen brightness outdoors was pretty lousy, this has got to be better than that. 😀 Even though there isn't much use for it anymore, kinda sad to lose the MST feature of Samsung Pay.
I get the passport sized outer screen, but if I use the outer screen a lot more than the inner screen, why get a foldable? I do think the outer screen on Samsung Fold phones needs to be wider than they are though.
I would like to see more reviews on Samsung watches instead of just apple. Please do a review of the Watch 6 Classic and maybe and compare of the new Apple Watch.
You missed it being thinner and lighter, the new much bigger heatsink aswell. And both screens are brighter not just the inside. I think there are really 3 type of foldable for 3 different people. Those who want an entirely normal phone with a bonus, honor magic Vs oneplus etc. Those who want a smaller outer screen for quick interacrions but never want to HAVE to open it, pixel and oppo. And those who want to have both screens compliment eachother and dont mind having to open it samsung, and techno(to a degree). I personally would rather the samsung approach because its a lot better for one handed use(unrivaled on big phones let alone foldables) and is incredible where the internal screen falls short.
In the clip they said the pixel fold outer screen feels more usable than the samsung fold one, to the point they could pretty much settle on using the outer screen of the pixel fold. I feel like that form factor is more striking a balance between todays generation of slab phones and the future of fold, kinda like a hybrid. Whereas I feel like Samsung is going more aggressive with it with an outer display that will not be ideal for many situations but the screen inside will be, its like Samsung is trying to entice people to use the inside display more. I suppose theres 2 ways to see it, I personally like the samsung fold but thats because I'm a samsung fan and I dont really trust Google to do hardware correctly in the long term.
I would have a hard time only for the apps. There are some iPadOS apps that they don't have replacements I'd like on android. Form factor wise, that thing would be SICK though.
I think a lot of people think the center of the screen cracks when it's just the screen protector. But there was a lot of fear induced with the Fold 1 and everyone thinks you can't remove it in the others. But from model 2 onwards, of either Fold or Flip, you can remove the screen protector no problems.
Can you? Yes. Recommend? No. The reason that protector is there is because if there is any somewhat hard debris inside that crease, the display panel will be ruined almost immediately after a close. It’s like rubbing a stone between 2 screens. Not good.
Those massive trade-ins mentioned in the video are only available in the US. For reference, currently in the Netherlands, they offer 240 euros for a Z Flip 4 256 gigs + 200 euro trade in bonus. There are some extras you can get but the deals are not comparable. Because of the dominance of Apple in the US, they will basically give their phones out for free.
I still use my fold 3, the inner screen is still pristine. The problem is the inner screen protector usually tend to peel off after 9 month, but its easy to change.
While the outside screen is not that good for 16:9 content, it is almost perfect for 21:9 content (most movies), so it's really good for watching movies without those big black bars you'd get on the inside screen.
You're absolutely right, there's not enough of a change to move to the Z5, if you don't have a Z fold go ahead and buy one, but if you've already got the Z4, like me I'm just going to go ahead and wait for the Z6 🤓👋✌️in.
Switching to Fold 5 soon. Was thinking of going Flip 5 instead after contemplating on my lifestyle, but a couple of months more of waiting and letting reviews and issues cook out wouldn't kill.
Heard Google Wallet does not have an interface on the Flip 5 cover screen. Hope that's something they fix because that's one of the major apps I use on my Flip 4 and I was excited to have it be more functional on a larger cover screen.
Not natively via widgets, no. Either Samsung has to talk to Google about it, or you do it on your own by enabling phone apps within the Cover screen from the Labs settings. The demo unit I've tried supports a few Google apps (notably Maps and RUclips) and Netflix
Ended up deciding to trade-in flip4 to preorder flip5. Just wanted a bigger front screen, but with better hinge and upgraded software for possibly battery improvement AND free upgraded memory to 512GB...i couldnt stop myself
Same their trade in deals especially for the Flip are just too damn good to pass up. With a reserve code, it's just $50 to upgrade which is an absolute no brainier. If they continue this I'd definitely upgrade every year
I might be the craziest person on earth but i'm trading in my Galaxy S23 Ultra (I just find it too big and I never use the s-pen) and Galaxy Watch 4 for a Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Watch 6. I only ended up paying just over $100 for everything. I had the Z Flip 3 and LOVED it. The form factor, the cameras were good enough, and the flip action was so fun. My only issue was the battery life. I am hoping with the Flip 5 they improved on battery life from the Flip 3 and I am very excited for that bigger cover display!
I saw a battery life comparison a few days ago on yt. Looked pretty solid. Of course, not up to par with the giants, but really impressive for only 3700mah. It beat the Pixel 7 by 15 minutes and that phone is 5000mah so pretty impressive.
I am wanting a ZF;ip 5 which woudl be my first, I am wondering if should get it or not before the deal go away, I owna S22 and Pixel 7 but since i saw the flip last year I been wanting to try it, i am just afraid the cracking but battery life but did see someone do it yesterday while last 9 hour +. I nee help tell me beign stupid wanting this lol, I also see ymself makgin video with this again but like said nto sure eyt, need advice if anyoen want to help.
I want the cover display on the FOLD to be on the same side as the cameras (like on the FLIP), this would be much more useful for using the better cameras for EVERYTHING (including when it's sitting on a table).
"In this clip, Marques, Andrew, and Marques quickly discuss all of the new products that Samsung announced at Unpacked!" lol just what the world needs, 2 Marques's
I watched a guy go over everything in the Fold 5 and he said something I agree with. Companies don’t have to reinvent the wheel every year, just updating a tried and true design is fine. The fold 5 is a nice update, it’s definitely not an upgrade if you already have the fold 4 but if you don’t it’s a great update and worth upgrading to. I’m turning in my iPhone 8 Plus because the trade in deal was excellent. Haven’t had a non iPhone since 2012 and have been waiting for the foldables to stop being just gimmicks and I think this is the year, next year I know they’re just going to get even better but I couldn’t wait any longer 😂
I love my Samsung Flip 2 but I would prefer a larger outside screen. I do use the little screen on the outside more than I thought I would. The larger inside screen makes it great for reading, movies, gaming and multi tasking. The one thing that really makes me happy is how small it gets since 90% of my day is not using my phone. Compact and easy to store with options. Back in the day I used Motorola / Samsung / LG flip phones and the Siemens C55 which was the greatest phone for easiest store it way ever.
Ik it may not seem like a big upgrade, but that hinge is an engineering marvel, to have it be completely flat but still provide the same level of durability is amazing
I held the Oppo Find N2 last week for the first time. Although I love my fold 4, I was immediately jealous of the passport form factor. I think Mr. Mobile said that due to the nature of apps, many will force you to rotate portrait. But I'd rather have to rotate a couple of times on unoptimized apps and have a great cover screen, than deal with the candybar screen on my fold. I really hope Samsung would make a Fold 5 E or Mini, or just release A Fold and Fold+ (the plus model being the taller, and the regular being the passport).
You should really try the Samsung ecosystem and do a video about it not just speculate about it. Like show us how it really works with the different devices.
Why no dex on flip 5, annoying and stops me going for that as I'm a note 20 user that keeps returning new folds as the outer screen is too narrow and inner screen for video is no bigger than note 20 ultra when cropped. I use nreal/xreal air so can't go google fold as no hdmi out apparently
I feel like the implementation of an outside screen (initially for convenience since you wouldn't have to open and close your flip phone) will inadvertently serve to cross breach the threshold into the world of wearables (say: a smart watch that functions as the main device). a brace or band for the wrist with a medium sized screen with all the functions of a smartphone . . . . yeah, like Leela from Futurama x'D
People crack me up. Fold 5 has an outside screen that's a bit weird shaped but actually functions as a full smartphone. Everybody "it's terrible, it's too narrow, needs to be bigger like a regular phone" Flip 5 has a bigger but still tiny screen thats not really practical as a smartphone everyone "omg the flip 5 has a huge outside screen, so exciting, best of the 5th gen Samsung folding phones" 🤦
@kingly794 you think samsung can't? Have you not seen the pictures of the prototypes? They can they don't want to. They say the way the screen is now gives best aspect ratio for the unfolded in their opinion. Also until those other companies have cheaper ways of getting their phones Samsung will be top dog. $1000 trade in credit makes fold 5 best there is by default
Just got my s23 ultra its amazing so far huge upgrade from my note 20 ultra. Will wait for foldables until they are just as durable and not getting anything more but less except a folding larger screen.
@@TheMissingDislikeButton maybe one day but defs not now. I really enjoyed my lg dual screen foldable it was sick but it was a dual screen case where I could actually take the phone out or choose to have both screens.
I will say since I've gotten my fold 4, I haven't felt the skinny closed form factor due to it going straight into a case with a pen holder. So my brain doesn't really care, to me it's like a huge protective bezel
I want a fold 6 ultra. Keep it the same height the fold has always been, just make it as wide as the pixel fold, give it the S23 ultra cameras and a bigger battery
Samsung could make the fold a little wider like the pixel fold and nake room for an Spen in that. They can keep using that same form factor and keep making it more durable for years. That would be a better approach imo.
love my zfold3. did have to replace it once 1 1/2 years in due to you know what. wasnt hard on it, never dropped it. durability will always be a concern unfortunately but thats the nature of having cutting edge tech.
I used the Verizon trade in and student discount to get a fold 5 (switching from note 20 ultra). I also got the pro2 buds heavily discounted. I'm going to end up paying like ~$700, which is TOTALLY worth it for me
Got the flip 5 i have fold 4 and want to try the flip it looks pretty nice as for the tablet i have the big tabs8 and dont need to upgrade it anytime soon
Actually the trade in offers in samsung are sick. I bought S21FE for 32000INR ($388) and now after a year it has an exchange value of 32500INR ($394). So I can use the phone for a year and still make a profit out of it 😂
You can definitely live in Samsung world, aka Ecosystem, and you don't have to compromise like people tend to think. With their Watch, Phone, Tablet... tight Windows O365 Integration, Power of Android... Ease of use and tons of features on OneUI... On Galaxy phones, You can have two phone numbers with e-sim and traditional sim. You can have two profiles with Samsung Secure Folder app that not many people talk about. You can use the same app twice on your phone... two social media apps or WhatsApp, or two bank account logins... maintain separate Work profile and Home profiles. Possibilities... With an expanded cover screen Flip 5, you can have more fun indeed... S8 Ultra Tablet is insane... Samsung has come a long way in their Galaxy ecosystem
No idea how people are breaking them. I think temperature places a huge roll but not a single fold ive owned since gen 2 has broken. I think my Z Fold4 has taken the most beating.l and still kicking
The tradeins seem to only be good in the US, here in the EU, I get at most €200 for a basically brand new S22+. Mind you, a phone they released in 2022, last year, for 1100, is apparently worth less than 200. Crazy
just make two folds each year with the flip. Fold 6 Ultra with wider screen / Fold 6 lite current narrow screen / Flip 6. Us tech enthusiast will be happy and the developers too.
So true about Samsung Trade Ins, recently had to upgrade cause my S22 Ultra cracked bad and just did the S23 Ultra and they gave me $525 towards the 23Ultra
I think one big positive for the Samsung ecosystem is it's charging standard. All their mobile devices including laptops charge via USB type-c. And with reverse wireless charging, it makes their system more flexible than Apple's.
Not only does the flip4 trade in for $900, if you bought a flip3 you probably traded that in for the 4 and only paid $100 out of pocket for your flip4. Which you definitely should have done, none of those screens were really going to last many years in the first place. I think Samsung needs to add thermal cycling into their durability testing for the folding screens.

Bo band BBC v CC😊
The Outro was hilarious. Had me rolling on the floor. 😂
Honestly at this point I appreciate the iterative updates having lived through the insanity of the 2010's of smartphone evolution lol.
We need creativityy
Ordered the fold 5, tab s9 ultra, buds pro 2 and watch 6 classic
rich boi 👍
The tab 9 ultra is really tempting. Consuming media on such a gigantic screen would be awesome
I would have a hard time only for the apps. There are some iPadOS apps that they don't have replacements I'd like on android. Form factor wise, that thing would be SICK though.
Yeah, they should make something with an even bigger screen that you could hang on your wall to consume media 😮😂
@@TiredMikeethey already did
@@TheMissingDislikeButton it was sarcasm.
You guys Rock ! 👍🏾👍🏾 You ending was Spot on ! 😂🤣🤣🤣
Will we get the Fold 5 case with s-pen for the fold 4?
Trading in my S21U for a Fold5. Hope it holds up 😅
Also that outro was 10/10 😂
Yeah, same! I'm upgrading from the s21+
it's foldable so it won't hold up...
@@TheMissingDislikeButton Yeah that's why Linus' Fold3 is still going strong
It might not, i had a fold 3 that was fine but the screen on my fold 4 broke after a few months
I still use my fold 3, the inner screen is still pristine. The problem is the inner screen protector usually tend to peel off after 9 month, but its easy to change.
They made huge improvements to the screen with the fold 3 from what i heard, i bought a fold 4 and couldn't be happier and im a heavy user
Does the Tab S9 Ultra fit the same cases as the tab s8 ultra?
While the outside screen is not that good for 16:9 content, it is almost perfect for 21:9 content (most movies), so it's really good for watching movies without those big black bars you'd get on the inside screen.
Lmao the ending!
Do you suggest moto r samsung? I'm thinking to buy one
If they continue this I'd definitely upgrade every year
Would you recommend the zfold5 over the tab s9ultra for a student who reads and researches a lot if money is not a problem
Got a flip 4 from Verizon when I added a line for 5$ a month. Now paid 89.99 sales tax and trading the flip 4 in for a 512gb flip 5.
The education discount is 10% so if you trade in a z flip 4 for the 5 you pay $100 and the discount is only $10 that totals to $90
I am wanting a ZF;ip 5 which woudl be my first, I am wondering if should get it or not before the deal go away, I owna S22 and Pixel 7 but since i saw the flip last year I been wanting to try it, i am just afraid the cracking but battery life but did see someone do it yesterday while last 9 hour +. I nee help tell me beign stupid wanting this lol, I also see ymself makgin video with this again but like said nto sure eyt, need advice if anyoen want to help.
11:50 Was bracing for the "Show me your moves!" 😭
I got the bookcover keyboard for the S9 Tab Ultra and it arrived yesterday.
please do a video on all tabs and watch too.
Love the thumbnail showing the Fold 4, yep they really aren't that much different after all!
The durability of the phone with the black line of death where the inner screen just stops working which happened on the Fold 4 and 3?
I held the Oppo Find N2 last week for the first time. Although I love my fold 4, I was immediately jealous of the passport form factor. I think Mr. Mobile said that due to the nature of apps, many will force you to rotate portrait.
But I'd rather have to rotate a couple of times on unoptimized apps and have a great cover screen, than deal with the candybar screen on my fold. I really hope Samsung would make a Fold 5 E or Mini, or just release A Fold and Fold+ (the plus model being the taller, and the regular being the passport).
I love how you guys took a dig at the NPC recent madness towards the end. 😂😂😂
Everybody "it's terrible, it's too narrow, needs to be bigger like a regular phone"
Flip 5 has a bigger but still tiny screen thats not really practical as a smartphone everyone "omg the flip 5 has a huge outside screen, so exciting, best of the 5th gen Samsung folding phones"
🤦
@kingly794 you think samsung can't? Have you not seen the pictures of the prototypes? They can they don't want to. They say the way the screen is now gives best aspect ratio for the unfolded in their opinion. Also until those other companies have cheaper ways of getting their phones Samsung will be top dog. $1000 trade in credit makes fold 5 best there is by default
The use cases are obviously different if you thought about it for like 5 minutes.
i feel like samsung just waiting for Apple to make the next move...
Just got my s23 ultra its amazing so far huge upgrade from my note 20 ultra. Will wait for foldables until they are just as durable and not getting anything more but less except a folding larger screen.
Grow some...
@@u2fkeys665 hahaha sorry I am unable to grow some. Thanks for the compliment.
I doubt foldable will ever be durable...
@@TheMissingDislikeButton maybe one day but defs not now. I really enjoyed my lg dual screen foldable it was sick but it was a dual screen case where I could actually take the phone out or choose to have both screens.
@@treynolds94 just imagine what will LG do today if they survive 😭
the outro cracked me up lmao
I will say since I've gotten my fold 4, I haven't felt the skinny closed form factor due to it going straight into a case with a pen holder. So my brain doesn't really care, to me it's like a huge protective bezel
Could you imagine Apple making washers and dryers, it would be about £4000 or $4000 as a starting price
I love the ending always
Can't wait for the Watch 6 classic
I want a fold 6 ultra. Keep it the same height the fold has always been, just make it as wide as the pixel fold, give it the S23 ultra cameras and a bigger battery
I like how Samsung is becoming an entity which is Literally something completely different and fun... i like that aproach to competition ..
I ordered the Tab 9 Ultra and they've already charged my debit card and haven't shipped yet.
My problem with the fold is battery life. I always need to charge it at the middle of the day.
@riverjustice very true. end up relying on outer screen roughly 65% of the time. going to be a key area of improvement going forward!
Samsung's trade-ins are really nuts, true, but only in the US. In the UK we only get roughly $500 for a Flip 4.
I'm in the samsung ecosystem and it's pretty nice.
I used the Verizon trade in and student discount to get a fold 5 (switching from note 20 ultra). I also got the pro2 buds heavily discounted. I'm going to end up paying like ~$700, which is TOTALLY worth it for me
Only reason I get a new phone every year to year half. I get $1000 trade in. How can you beat that?
5:46 LMAOOOO
That outro got me wheezing 🤣
Got the flip 5 i have fold 4 and want to try the flip it looks pretty nice as for the tablet i have the big tabs8 and dont need to upgrade it anytime soon
Actually the trade in offers in samsung are sick. I bought S21FE for 32000INR ($388) and now after a year it has an exchange value of 32500INR ($394). So I can use the phone for a year and still make a profit out of it 😂
Please do a video on the samsung tab s9 ultra!
You can definitely live in Samsung world, aka Ecosystem, and you don't have to compromise like people tend to think. With their Watch, Phone, Tablet... tight Windows O365 Integration, Power of Android... Ease of use and tons of features on OneUI...
On Galaxy phones, You can have two phone numbers with e-sim and
traditional sim. You can have two profiles with Samsung Secure Folder app that not many people talk about.
You can use the same app twice on your phone... two social media apps or WhatsApp, or two bank account
logins... maintain separate Work profile and Home profiles.
Possibilities...
With an expanded cover screen Flip 5, you can have more fun indeed...
S8 Ultra Tablet is insane...
Samsung has come a long way in their Galaxy ecosystem
Just ordered the flip 5 kind of excited
No idea how people are breaking them. I think temperature places a huge roll but not a single fold ive owned since gen 2 has broken. I think my Z Fold4 has taken the most beating.l and still kicking
You guys have so much fun
You're supposed to use its ultra wide capabilities with the fold cosed 😉 thats why its shaped like that (pull the screen to the edges)
I wish the Flip5 had 25w wireless charging and 65w cord charging speed. Also 2 signal antennas instead of only 1 to get a better signal.
It's good enough...
@@lbeetech not for that price
The trade in deals are rubbish here in the UK 😢
I'm a samsungknight, and love all of it.
I have the Fold 3 hanging in there, going Fold 6 next year..
I wonder if MKBHD ever heard of the 18inch Samsung Galaxy View, or the 17inch Samsung Galaxy View 2 tablets from years back.
So true about Samsung Trade Ins, recently had to upgrade cause my S22 Ultra cracked bad and just did the S23 Ultra and they gave me $525 towards the 23Ultra
unlike boring apple events , samsung unpack was interesting
🤣🤣🤣🤣 The ending....
That outro tho 😂😂
outro is gas
I think one big positive for the Samsung ecosystem is it's charging standard. All their mobile devices including laptops charge via USB type-c. And with reverse wireless charging, it makes their system more flexible than Apple's.
Not only does the flip4 trade in for $900, if you bought a flip3 you probably traded that in for the 4 and only paid $100 out of pocket for your flip4. Which you definitely should have done, none of those screens were really going to last many years in the first place. I think Samsung needs to add thermal cycling into their durability testing for the folding screens.
Haha when he said "well, you'd have to use Bixby, so ...."
