I really liked Truckee when I stayed a night there. There were white water kayakers playing by a bridge right downtown. At least that's where I remember it being 🤔
I love Grocery Outlet! ❤️ I make my own creamer: 2c. H&H, 1 can sweetened condensed milk and 1/4c Torani flavored syrup. It's really good, cheaper than buying flavored "creamers" and I know what all the ingredients are.
Truckee is beautiful. Lived there for 5 years when I was a teenager. It's like paradise. Rafting the Truckee river, skiing, hiking..great memories growing up there. Enjoy!! Love all your videos! Peace ✌🏼️
Scott, As ever another great video, your storage dilemma reminded me of the historical documentaries of the submarines from especially ww2 , where they were stashing fresh food in all possible places…. glad you cottoned on about the oatley, it really is easy to make your own for a fraction of the price and probably still healthier than dairy for you Scott. my husband keeps saying we must make some Sauerkraut - he tells me it's easy! I understand fermented is very good for you but i need convincing as its not my taste! I like the intro shot of you sitting in the back of the van - apart from goodlooking I'd say it's a picture of contentment!
Truckee is my favorite little town when I want to get out of Reno. It’s close, friendly and usually 10 degrees or more cooler in the summer. All the little stores around the train station are fun to duck in and out of too.

Having lived in reno/sparks for 40 years I have seen it snow every month of the year at Tahoe/truckee. However that altitude is perfect in the summer, when it's 90 to 100 down here it's 10 to 15 degrees cooler up there. If you have extra gas take a drive up north on 89 to grayeagle, it's a beautiful drive.😀
So random I just saw another video about a train traveler going to SF and they remarked how pretty Truckee was and then you’re talking about how nice it is. Hope Truckee gives you some opportunities for your jobs
Truckee is a nice little town with the train and all the unique shops and cafe's. I lived in Reno for many years and it was always nice to go for a meal and window shop in Truckee. I've kayaked on Donner Lake too. 🐢🚐

Oh man you should go to mountain hardware and sports!! It's full of everything 😆. Also when your in the area you should check out Auburn Ca, go to the Foresthill Bridge, visit the local waters and Absolutely beautiful town. Plus lots of beautiful hiking.
Careful where you park in S Lake Tahoe especially at the trailheads. Was hiking Eagle Falls and my van window was smashed and my camera bag was stolen.
So pretty. when i have gone to Tahoe, I've never explored the area and clearly Truckee is worthy of that. I hope you can find some work there. Sounds like good news regarding the altitude sickness - that's wonderful. hooray for summer rains! Wow.
I spent about a month in the Truckee area back in 2014. I camped in the National Forest up past Stampede Reservoir. I used that laundromat a couple of times, the library, and showered at the recreation centre on the east end of town. Made a couple of jaunts down to Lake Tahoe. It's a great area. I really need to get back there again. I hope you find work and can stay there as long as you like.
Head back east on 80 to USA Pkwy. There are a ton of warehouses out there. Maybe check with temp services in Reno and they can get you a job out there. That’s where Tesla built that gigafactory. Downieville CA is a great place to visit.
ALTRAS…best darn shoe ever!!!! I use to read water meters and averaged 50 miles a week..NO other shoe comes close to the durability & comfort became super important . Yes, they look like hobbit shoes but other shoes for the same cost that look “ cool “ got tossed quick when practicality and comfort. Believe me when I say, I have tried NUMEROUS shoes and these are hands down badass! SOCKS are equally important and I always wear SmartWool PhD’s…pricey but cheap socks suck & don’t last. We appreciate you taking the time and putting in the effort to make your vids!
I really like Darn Tough Socks. I used to only wear smart wool, but they were wearing out quickly on the heels. They are very similar to the PhDs, but last longer and made in Vermont!
Your praises of Truckee have really made an impression upon me and I hope to go there one day! I forget if it was this video or another one (I listened to several today that I had watched before, and in segments) where you were talking about Carson City. That got me waxing sentimental because I was there... Oh heck.. can it really be 50 years ago, eeks!! At that time my family and grandparents did annual road trips from Vancouver BC to Reno. We often did a side trip to Virginia City, too. A couple of times we went to Carson City, and certainly as kids our only knowledge of these places prior, was through Bonanza 😁 My dad loved to read about the history of "The Wild West" so these names are evocative and have become special to me. I was in fifth grade and was going to be doing a school project about Nevada so my mom who was also a school teacher decided we should look at the government buildings and managed to get us into meet the governor, who was very gracious. For us kids that was a big deal - probably our first "celeb" lol Anyway, watching these I was getting all sentimental about our trips (AND Bonanza!), and I thought it would be fun to see if I could find a poster of that iconic map from the credits of the show. Instead I found a small map printed on tin and have it mounted now in my hallway. After I got it up, what jumped out at me... but "Truckee"! The Truckee River to be exact! And the Truckee Road. I never heard of Truckee before, but I'm really fascinated since your video. Every time I walk past that now, I think of the town! Thank you for this little moment! 💖
I passed through Truckee enroute to Sacramento and found the town to be gorgeous. However, while driving through there were several fires in the surrounding forests. While living at my sister's my plan is to explore all of northern California and find an acre or so of land for a small off grid structure. With a base to return to I can explore the Northwest, Idaho and Montana. Love your videos, Scott. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful I have a friend that lives in Susanville, CA about two hours from Truckee. There’s 3 or 4 prisons in Susanville. Prisoners have escaped, doesn’t hurt to be mindful. Have you ever done a video explaining how you came to do van life? I started watching your videos when you were about to leave Amazon in Seattle. I have a tendency to take a break from technology then come back and start watching again. I’m trying to catch up on all your videos.

I like Oatly in coffee as well as half and half , the only issue with h&h is it has casein in it which negates the antioxidant effect of coffee. . Dammed if you do dammed if you dont
I love my Oatly but if it cost what it does in the US, I would get of it faster than you can say oats. You guys pay 70-170% more for your Oatly, plus sales tax on top, than we do in Sweden. Have no idea of who in the food-supply-chain is ripping you off but you are def getting ripped off. Outrageous!!! Loved your content btw, as always. Stay happy 😊😊😊

It does get extremely cold with a HUGE amount of snow in winer. Often people have doors into their houses on the SECOND floor. Not kidding.
Opposite street side parking is usually for snow removal, so MAYBE not relevant in summer (?)
Ah, maybe. I did notice a lot of people ignored the signs. But there’s no dates listed either. There are signs with parking restrictions for snow removal with dates around town.

I love my Oatly but if it cost what it does in the US, I would get of it faster than you can say oats. You guys pay 70-170% more for your Oatly, plus sales tax on top, than we do in Sweden.
