    About the only thing that made my Mom happy in the last months of her life with Dementia was combing her hair. Now I understand why.

      That reminds me of the time years and years ago that while brushing my Moms hair as she took her nap on the couch, my sister swirked the little brush in my Mom's long, long hair and rolled it up tight as Mom fell asleep. Needless to say, it took quite a time to get Mom's hair untangled 😂

    ❤ WOW!!
    I have been brushing my hair the past few weeks, and have slept like a baby every night.
    I remember I used to brush my hair every night before bed as a child, because it was long, and always slept like a baby. Brushing my hair nightly certainly must have been a reason for that, because I didn't sleep as well when my hair was cut short, and I didn't see a need to brush it before bed.
    Now I brush my hair before bed religiously, and always end up in dreamland, waking up minutes before my alarm, rested and refreshed. 😊
    THANK YOU, Dr. Mandell!! ❤

    My beautiful grandmother used to teach us to brush our hair 100 strokes per day.
    A soft natural expensive bristle brush is good,
    And the affordable “ Wet” hairbrushes with the soft tips are so very comfortable.

  • @nancysmith6685
    @nancysmith6685 11 месяцев назад +4

    I know that it relieves stress. When we were little my poor hard working Mom would give in to a nap on the couch and paid one of us 13 kids a whole nickle if we would brush her hair for about 30 minutes. I love to have mine massaged too. Sometimes you can find the scalp massagers at the dollar store. The only trouble with it is you get so relaxed that you can't keep doing it yourself and it would cost a whole lot more than a nickel, even if you could get someone to do it.😂 Another thing that she loved and I do too, is for someone to give a really good foot massage. One where they take their thumbs and press hard on different areas. I have Fibromyalgia and have places on me that feels like stone bruises and it both hurts and feels so good to get a good massage like that on my neck, back and feet. The only trouble is I don't have a way to get to anywhere that does that and the biggest problem is that I can't afford it. 😂 I think a good medical massage would eliminate a lot of symptoms of anxiety.
