ADHD is crazy! I remember the first time I took my medication (10 years ago). A friend called me and showed me a song. When the song ended I was impressed. I had heard every word of the song.
Medication helps me a lot with everyday tasks and with boring tasks, which I would normally give up doing. But sometimes it blocks my creative side a little, and this, I've seen other people saying they feel the same thing.
Being an ADHD is a challenge for me and my family; But, the point is, never give up... even if we forget what we wanted to give up.... lol

I was diagnosed with ADHD at like 37, although I knew I had it for years. Just didn't ever want to talk about it. Was VERY embarrassed with it as it also comes with OCD for me too.
An then... 41 I was also diagnosed with having ASD too. So I have ADHD brain 🧠 that also has an ASD brain 🧠 that sometimes decides to both start arguing with each other and the results are me being stuck in the middle. I have my ADHD medication, an it's a BIG help. I'm on ELVANS, which is lisdexanphetamine I think it's spelt as. It is a huge help.

I started watching your channel just as I got diagnosed for ADHD last year (at 24) and I was like “Gene almost definitely has ADHD as well 😅” just from how often your interests and train of thought changed. Starting medication changed my life for the better (not just with daily focus, but my sleep and anxiety improved so much with meds as well). The only thing that got harder after medication is I really notice when they wear off and how much harder it is to do certain things off them - like not zoning out in conversations
Also since you said this at the end of the video, I like to say any shortcomings caused by my ADHD is an explanation, not an excuse because we really can’t do anything about it

There are so many aspects of ADHD that you talk about it where my wife will turn toward me and just smile, like, "Yup, I've definitely seen that." Please do not feel that your ADHD talk is detrimental to the channel. It's very interesting and helpful.
Also, when you mentioned the conversation you had with Kari about not doing long term committed relationships a thought struck me. I could sincerely not care less about celebrity relationships and who is dating who amongst actors and athletes and famous personalities, but if you and Kari broke up I would honestly cry. I mean, obviously I am not saying you two need to stay together "for the sake of the channel." You two just complement each other so well. ADHD ''medication'' = 9/10 just medical grade Meth or common name Ritalin here in the UK (could be worse) and if your over 20+ go for it a developed brain is pretty sturdy and you allow your chemical state to re-set here and there its fine to pop em like candy! But...
On the other hand, if your a kid growing up age 8-15 etc that's not so good on the brain chemistry personally, It gave me a permanent uneasy calm but without the cold focus effect it had while I was on it (also great for weight loss because you forget eating is needed) after years on it as a kid now even in the most stressful mess today can't really feel anything but a board ''mental meh'' I guess unless something kicks off my adrenalin like pain etc medical meth is a funny thing, but the distrubing drug first policy in the west is not.

You literally have control over whether you choose to use walk away lock or not and also have control over in which locations your car will auto lock. I personally lock it manually and unlock it manually in the app, it's a lot safer, a lot quicker, less convenient but I don't see an issue here. The car can't determine your proximity quick enough and also prevents you from locking your phone in your car as it won't lock. If you're worried about it lol, just disable it. I also park away from other cars and if you're not checking the inside of your car when you get to it, idk what to tell you ha. Your location in correlation with the vehicle is not an absolute, it's an estimate, the same way your location on a gps map may not always be exact, it's within a particular threshold.

    "It's only a problem if it's a problem".
It's okay to have mental health struggles, we ALL do. At the point where it's actively interfering or hampering something important in your life like relationships, work, study, family etc etc that's where you need to seek help to regain some balance.

It just feel so natural and not scripted. 2020 was the best RUclips year for me since you make daily VLOG. Now I imagine it must be hell to you since you had ADHD and had to force yourself to make that daily video for one whole year.

I had pretty bad ADHD as a kid, got meds for it, made me depressive as fuck to a point where I had to go into therapy fulltime for 3 months away from home. Now 27, I tend to talk a lot to people I like and I can kinda get annoying at times, escpecially after coffein (which I consume a lot because I usually take harder pre-workout powders before gym) and I also can't really focus on working strict for longer than 1,5-3 hours, after that I just zone out pretty bad and scroll 9gag or daydream. But apart from that, I think I have it under control pretty nice without meds. I need a lot of "me-time" for doing nothing, playing games, editing my travel videos, watching YT, so I can unwind a bit from work. So I'm not really productive after work, usually gym at 6 am, then work from 8 to 5 or 6 pm, and then just couch or running errands during the week. Usually all freetime activities happen on weekends only, because I don't really feel like doing stuff after work, because I need my calm down time. But it works without meds, not sure how productive or better of a person I'd be with meds, but I also don't really wanna try it again, because I'm already depressed without meds currently lol. Keep up the good work and pay attention that you don't catch any long term negative side effects like depression or loss of sex drive or something like that from the meds. Greetings from Germany
Edit: Should have watched to the end. I see myself in a lot of those things you mentioned. I need like 1-2 hours of rolling around to get to sleep, I'm a night owl bcause it's so calm and nobody wants/expects stuff from me at night and in the morning I never get out of bed unless it's a super important appointment. Due to homeoffice I can literally sit in bed until 11-12 with my laptop and I usually do that unless I hit the gym at 6. Also the zoning out while being talked to, I have that a bit sometimes. Maybe me being super bad at remembering things could also be improved with meds, I usually forget most little things my GF asks me to do and I'm really bad at planning and tracking things or remembering that we talked about topic X at work 2 weeks ago. It's like my brain only saves memes, camera and lens stuff and useless knowledge forever, but stuff for work or everyday life goes straight into the wastebin. Maybe I should get a check-up as well

I started watching this channel back when you lived in an 1 bedroom apartment, if I am not mistaken. Look at you. Now you own a house. Thanks to Kerry probably. Haha kidding. I remember how I always hated the color of your walls in those first videos. Also. Say Hi to Dylan. If you guys ever come to Switzerland and you lose your camera again, let me know, I got you. Have a great week.

    Gene...
Change Your Brain, Change Your Life Book by Daniel Amen
Great book to read twice frankly, I learned sooo much form this book, it should be a must read for most people
I think that you have the means to actually goto an Amen Clinic in Los Angeles and get a full Brain Spect Study done to really deeply understand what is going on in your head.

Whoa Gene stopping at a almost hidden little public access park in Benicia. I was just there taking pictures of my daughter and thought I recognized it but figured it was just some look alike on SoCal but then you showed the train and I knew exactly where you were! Hope you stopped by some of our good eats on First Street!

Oh shit. I fixate on things as well. Badly. It drives my Wife insane. I pick up hobbies fixate on them and then get bored. If I want something I will do hours and hours of research and video watching and then when I get it I’m all in. For. A. Few. Months. Hmmm I might need to talk to someone.

Ha! I'm pretty sure you can only use the "I can't remember your birthday/anniversary/whatever because I have ADHD!" once and you just used it on camera so you better be memorizing some dates now buddy! 😁

I can speak on how ADHD can be very negative regarding stress and anxiety. It also doesn't go well with insomnia. Can't medicate due to cardiovascular issues but I try to maintain as much as problem.

Oh tuning out of conversations is such a horrible thing for me; I've had meetings with professors where I'm getting feedback, and I just blank out at the start of the conversation. I've tried to make a habit of noting it down while the professor is talking, it has helped, but sometimes I still tune out unintentionally.
Same thing with calls, but all my calls are recorded, so I just go back and listen to them all over again.
