Yeah, she's a voice actress/impressionist.
It's like her voice is a distinctive character, too. But I've noticed that she actually has a more nondescript voice that she can switch into when she's being more serious. If you watch her America's Got Talent, she dials it way down.
Its kinda strange that both melissa and bill hader are great impressionists but have a weird natural voices

the Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig impressions are amazing!
She's an amazing impressionist and voice actor. If/when Melissa leaves SNL, now that she's famous she can have a tremendous career as a voice artist, doing voiceovers, commercials and animated films. That's a wonderful thing: you never age out of it, and you can work from anywhere.
She did a few impressions in the sketch where she's in bed with Aziz Ansari and he tries to "spice things up" with role-playing. It was really funny. And these days, you never know if an snl cast member will be on the show for a decade (or more) or for just one season.
@Lifted Sailboat I agree. I just saw her do solo stand-up in NYC now that SNL has a few weeks off. She had some pretty good material, but the dude who opened for her (who is not famous but has been grinding out a career as a stand-up for 15 years) blew her away in terms of confidence... and laughs. Melissa is clearly *not* on the writing team @ SNL; unlike, say, Tina Fey (who was hired as a writer and worked her way off the writing desk to be on on-camera star) Melissa is relying on other folks to write her SNL material. If she were a writer, too, she'd get more time on the show.
The Wiig one made me want to choke her with a dead cat.

Melissa Villasenor has become one of the best impressionists ever. Her ability to absolutely NAIL such niche and specific people is unprecedented. Everyone can do a lazy Christopher Walken or whatever, but being able to do a 100% accurate Kristen Wiig or Dolly Parton is unbelievable. Anyone can do an impression of over the top people, but Melissa can do impressions of such specificity and accuracy for extremely hard to do people.
Yeah her dolly parton is AMAZING! One sketch i seriously thought she was lip syncing to a recording but it was really Melissa's voice , incredible!

This skit is hilarious and impressive! Octavia Spencer is such an underrated comedienne! She has a great sense of humor and is incredibly talented in impressions and comedic mannerisms.
Her impressions were spot on, especially her Jodie Foster one.

The Kristen and Kate impressions were not just excellent voice matches, but she got the mannerisms dead on too. Kristen with her nonchalant almost flippant style and Kate with her perpetual over-the-top-ness. It's like they were right there all along.
Melissa has probably the best range of impressions on the show! I hope they keep putting her in more sketches!

All three are SNL cast members (JLD was in the cast in the 1980s. She got overshadowed by Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo).

It's one thing to imitate voices with very distinct, unique, or exaggerated characteristics or accents.
But what Melissa Villaseñor does, mimicking the subtle vocal nuances of people like Kristin Wiig and Kate McKinnon, is a completely different ballgame. And to be able to nail that in only four or five words is incredible!
Her McKinnon was absolutely incredible!!!!!! Kristen impression was also amazing, and so was Owen Wilson

Yeah the 50th anniversary show should just be the best impressionist in the shows history (villaseñor, wiig, hader, pharao, Carvey, fallon, Hammond, killam), hell throw in a few wild cards in there like Adam Sandler, Andy samberg, rob schneider (Elvis), Jim Breuer (Joe Pesci etc), Fred armisen (Tarantino, prince etc) Abby Elliott (zooey deschanel, Anna faris etc), will Ferrell, will forte, Jay mohr, mike Myers, Vanessa Bayer (for her Aniston), Amy poehler (her Sharon Osbourne), Maya Rudolph, Jason sudeikis, doing an impression marathon (yes I'm an impression fanatic)
