      Yeah, I almost exclusively do audible due to my dyslexia but I'm grateful for what I have. Not much of a gamer anymore. That might change if I can start supporting myself with a passive income but not likely as a passive income still has to be managed. I'll consider prime reading though.

    I really don't know how Amazon treats their employees because I have never worked for Amazon. But, as a prime customer, i personally want to thank every Amazon employee. Every warehouse worker, every driver, and even every corporate employee. Thanks for getting my orders to me.

    Disclaimer: Skipping the Prime Shipping for the Extra $ does NOT stack. You can only use $5 at a time. Over a month I was skipping quick shipping to use on Prime Pantry only to realize I couldn't use all like $40 I had saved up. Not too worth it in my opinion since you need X amount for free shipping anyway.

    • @BrettInTech

      Yes. this works great for us-my mother is the primary on the account, 🌱 and we added me so I get Prime shipping, video, and a bunch of other things mentioned in the vid.
      There's a lot of apps for the Fire stick 🔥 and i was able to add Kodi to it (i had to unlock it myself which voids warranty)👻 AND... I'm so glad I can access 🔓 Prime channels subscriptions, which are streaming video add-ons like Starz, Comic-Con, HBO NOW etc.. Each add-on offers a free trial for a week or a month sometimes, then they charge a monthly fee for each a la carte service❕ It's still so much less than paying for cable! Amazon lets us CUT the CABLE 🔑 🌎

    • @BrettInTech
      @BrettInTech  7 лет назад +1

      In my area for a few months at the end of 2016 my 2-day orders were taking about 4 days. They seemed to have fixed their issues here. The last several orders have actually arrived on time. I think it depends on the area whether your orders gets to you on time. Hopefully they fix it for you. 65% is not good enough. :)

    • @1Howdy1
      @1Howdy1 7 лет назад +5

      Yeah, me too. I hate when they use UPS. They say they don't ship on weekends, (but they do), and will sit on your package if early. Also seems like the 2 day shipping only counts after they get around to shipping it - that might take a few days. This could mean 4 or 5 days, unless I order on a Monday. Like, I order Monday and it takes a day or two to ship, say so late Tuesday that it Wednesday morning. It might be in town on Friday, but misses the truck. I'd love to drive the couple miles and pick it up, but they don't let me, so I have to wait until Monday night for UPS to show up - over 7 days for two day shipping.

      I hear ya. I've been using Amazon going on 11 years now. When I first started some stuff would come next day if I ordered in the morning. I noticed the change last year, too. They don't tend to pull the order the same day. I suspect something fishy with the time from printing the shipping label to the time the item gets to the shipper. Wish I could call them direct and tell them not to print the shipping label until they actually pull the item. (Sometimes the computer is wrong and they don't have the item.)

    It is also very easy to add tax exempt status to your Amazon account if you are a reseller on non profit which will apply to all future purchases automatically. You can also selectively exclude certain purchases from this if for example you are a non-profit but want to order stuff for yourself.

    In the UK, it's free next day delivery no matter the cost of the item purchased. I've also had things delivered in under 12 hours, bearing in mind I don't live in a city, just a town, I would say the delivery thing is by far the best perk.

    I spread the word on the 5% store card account credit every time I have an Amazon Prime conversation with someone. It's surprising how many users aren't aware of this amazing perk! By the way, Amazon now includes their Visa card for the 5% credit. Through May of this year we have received $210 in credits! Gotta love Amazon Prime.

    No joke about the amazon prime credit card. We place all our food, gas, and our daycare expenses on it and everything on amazon to include the pantry. We account for those expenses any way and pay off the card every month. We have to pay for those things any way, mines as well get some cash back with it. In the three months since getting the card we have with our cash back have been able to buy a echo dot and a hue lighting system. It has payed off very well. 5% on amazon orders, 2% on gas and food. It adds up quick.

    • @BrettInTech
      @BrettInTech  7 лет назад +2

      Sounds like you are using the card correctly so it benefits you. Not really a benefit for those that carry balances.

    The one-day delivery is crap. My area qualifies and I select items with the free one-day delivery and it either arrives in two days or I get excuses in my shopping cart that x item no longer qualifies or stock is low or charge $5.99 even if the cost is over $35. I'm okay with the two-day delivery, but I hate when they advertise something and specifically shove in my face that HEY THIS ITEM QUALIFIES FOR ONE-DAY DELIVERY ACT NOW!!! and it really doesn't. The thing I hate is it will say "Guaranteed Delivery of 03/27/2017" for example, but when I submit the order and go to orders it says "Estimated Delivery: No later than 03/28/2017 at 8:00 PM".

    • @BrettInTech

    • @jeaniebird999
      @jeaniebird999 7 лет назад

      I've also had some odd delivery issues. I've had items marked delivered but arrived the next day. And I ordered a dozen storage containers with lids. They were 5 days late (7 total) and missing one container. Also, I don't understand why they had to put that box in a much larger box, when it all it needed was a shipping label. My review wouldn't post and I'm having trouble figuring out how to contact anyone.

    • @BlaizC
      @BlaizC 7 лет назад +1

      There own delivery service, AMZL_US, is the worst! I would only get my items about 50% of the time when that service was used. When they did come, they'd sometime leave the package in the lobby of my very large apartment building, and not leave me any kind of notice that it was there, so it was often gone once I found out it had been delivered. I finally complained to executive customer service at their corporate headquarters, and they noted on my account not to use AMZL_US. That means I can't get anything that's offered for next day delivery, but I never need that anyway.
      By the way, their delivery is one or two business-day delivery AFTER the item is ready to ship. Not everything is shipped the same day you order it.

    One thing about the Prime Credit Card, even though it is Visa Signature, it does not offer price protection. So yes, you get 5% back off any purchase, but you lose the ability to price match as Price Matching is no longer Amazon's policy.

    if you are a Prime member you can also get the paid version for $7.99 a month. I switched from Spotify to save $2 a month and Im very happy with the service/app.

    4:33 Yeah I'm skeptical about that. You know with audible it gives you a "free audio book", but if you actually do choose your "free audio book" they'll charge you a subscription fee for that "free" audio book.

    I only use Amazon Prime for 2-day shipping. Period. $99/year is not worth it. Why can't they have different tier pricing for shipping, videos, etc.?

    Prime Video was just released to Prime Canada in Dec 2016. But it's very limited like NetFlix Canada compared to the US version. It's funny because The Man in the High Castle has been filmed in Vancouver for the past two years. And we could not see it in Canada until Dec. We also get same day shipping in Vancouver and Toronto. But not so much elsewhere in Canada.

    Got this e-mail yesterday morning.
    Amazon Music is retiring the Music Storage service, which allows customers to upload and store up to 250 songs in a personal cloud library. Our records indicate you have uploaded one or more songs through your Amazon account in the past.
    To keep, download, and play your uploaded songs at no extra cost, simply open a web browser, go to your Music Settings, and click the "Keep my songs" button to direct us to save them to the cloud. Otherwise, your uploaded songs will be removed from your library on April 30, 2018.
    Your Amazon Music digital purchases will continue to remain securely stored for playback and download -- no further action is required to retain those. These changes will not impact your ability to stream Prime Music or Amazon Music Unlimited.
    It's becoming an every day change of some kind. Very dissatisfied with the changes, Amazon is making.
    Sorry if I don't reply to any comments, Kindle Fire HD Tablet 10.1" 5th Generation sucks. Will buy a Android or iPad, when this piece of crap dies.

      Their Silk browser sucks & Opera Mini browser is the only alternative. Their Google app's, are a joke. 98% of the time I never get notifications. Best Regards if you have a Kindle Tablet.
      Only good thing is if you're a senior citizen or have low income assistance, you can get Prime for $5.00 a month.

    You stated that Kindle First allows you to rent 1 book per month from a selected list (there are usually six KF books offered each month). KF books are not rented, they are purchased (for $0.00) and you are allowed to keep them as with any free book you "buy" from Amazon. Only one KF book per month is free -- if you want one of the other books offered by KF, you do have to pay for it.

    • @BrettInTech
      @BrettInTech  7 лет назад

      Oops! Rent was the incorrect verbiage. They are purchased and can be kept forever. You are correct. Thanks!

    This video was very useful, I use prime for deliveries and have the firestick so I get all the prime movies and shows. I read 4-5 kindle stories per month, so the kindle read feature mentioned in the vid is going to save me 20/25% per month on books. Incidentally, I pay £7.99 per month for movies, deliveries, music and kindle read. Well done techgumbo you are saving me money! thanks.

    Thanks for the video and list. But to be honest, I wouldn't use most of that stuff. I joined Prime during the free trial to get free two day shipping always. Things were good for a while there but no longer. In the past 2 months Amazon has botched five of my orders and almost always delays my package beyond the two day shipping window. Since this is the only reason why I use it I am now seriously considering cancelling.

    i first got it when amazon bought out lovefilm which i was a member of it was a postal DVD rental service as i had an account with amazon when they took over lovefilm they just upgraded me to to amazon prime. which is great as i can also still rent blu rays and DVD by post as well as streaming which is good as i can never get good quality when streaming as my internet connection not that good, so discs are still the better option when it comes to HD. i do like the shipping options as well

  • @3vino1

    I'm not sure if I'm going to keep amazon prime. A lot of their movies that sound that they are good movies, are not in HD. That's a big disappointment since I don't watch non HD movies or movies in the old 4 x 3 TV format. Movies was the main reason I wanted Amazon prime. I will admit that I have gotten a couple of good deals and I do like the two day free shipping. Comes in handy when buying cables, DVD's, accessories for my iphone and so forth.
    Another downside is if there is a price drop in an item, Amazon will not give credit. You have to cancel the purchase ship it back, and buy it again. Sounds like a waste because that adds to their open box items which they sell at a lower price.
    With Best buy, who matches prices, you take it to the store, and they'll cancel the purchase and you buy the same item again without having to take it to the store.
