6:20 Also you can set how many seconds are skipped when you double tap, in the app settings. Maybe on the website too. I can't remember.

More PC tips:
J = goes back 10 seconds
K = pause
L = goes forward 10 seconds
, = goes back frame by frame
. = goes forward frame by frame
(when paused)
You can replace the "www" in the url with "gaming" and it will change the layout to gaming mode, regardless if you're watching a gaming video or not.
Excellent keyboard shortcuts. I did not know that changing "www" to "gaming" would change the layout. Very cool!

Also use m to (un-)mute a video and use 0 to 9 to go to the according 10th of the video (don't know how to describe it)

Nobody ever talks about how you can tap the screen and keep it holding untill you access to the time selector instead of trying to select the red button over the buffering line which is harder to accomplish. *Try it!*

Loved it! I took notes on paper. I believe that writing down, pen to paper, the tips, tricks, and hacks for RUclips is the fastest way to own it so you will be able to apply it. That's an old school trick. LOL

On the mobile tips, each aditional "tap" forwards another 10s, so three taps advance 20s, four taps advance 30s, nine taps will advance 80s, etc...
C = Captions
T = Theatre
F = Full screen
i = Miniplayer
J = 10 secs backward
k = pause
L = 10 secs fwd
M = mute
Right arrow key = 5 secs fwd
Left arrow key = 5 secs backward
Up Arrow = Increase Volume
Down Arrow = Decrease volume
Any number key = 1 sec back
End key = next video
How can I stop suggested videos from popping up and blocking the screen before the video I'm watching is done?
I don't think think you can do anything about that.

When I finally got a YT channel they automatically gave me a Sub Homepage. Then I cleaned out my computer with CC Cleaner who took it away and I went nuts trying to figure out how to get it back. Now I don't have to worry. Thanks.

I did a video earlier in the year. Right now the only ones I would consider buying are the Roku devices and the Nvidia Shield.
This was so clear, to the point and comprehensible. Because of that I will ask for your suggestion before I give up completely. Bear in mind I am a Senior, and most of this stuff is unfamiliar territory. I wanted to start a channel. I began making clips. Putting together art or memes with music on pixgram. Then dressing it up on other apps... cutting, logos, etc. etc. Other clips I took the silent clips I made, used an app to attach my audio of me talking, sometimes throwing some music in, sometimes moving to a different app for fading etc. Now I have all these clips saved in photos on my Samsung Galaxy s7. I tried to merge 3 clips so I can download the one as my first post on RUclips. No app will connect them. So I taped them all on apowersoft screen recorder thinking I could just crop and merge, but the audio is distorted and has horrible echo effect. I realize now, I used too many different apps that won't work together. I am doing this on my phone. I am intimidated by all of this and constantly cry. I know I have to learn a better way for future taping, but how can I save these clips and merge... or can I just download them separately onto RUclips for the one solid post. I don't speak technical language either lol. I didn't even try to download to RUclips yet for fear they would all post separately. I know this will make some people laugh... it's ok... I am sure I will laugh next year, but now I am crying. Thank if you can help me make a "save".😢😨

On the mobile app: the double-tap forward/rewind feature's increments can actually be changed in settings, 10secs / 20secs / 40secs /1min etc ;)
I've been yearning to change the playback speed on mobile like I often do on desktop, but until now I didn't think the app would let you. Thanks a million!

Fun Fact: if you Type "awesome" You're Proggress Bar turns Rainbow & if you wan't to go Back to the Normal Proggress Bar the Just Type "awesome" Again

On a Mac device, keep the video playing and type the word awesome . This will change the red slider flashing into multiple colours at the same time.

...this probably isn't useful, but if you pause a video, put it in full screen, type "awesome", then play the video...........something awesome will happen.......
..............the best time to do this is when you are listening to "Hopes and Dreams"............just saying....

Very helpful. Thanks. The one thing missing that I was really hoping to see was how to mark a clip or segment of a RUclips video (i.e., not just the start point, but also the end point). Have you perhaps discussed that elsewhere? If not, would you consider showing that in a future tutorial?
Good stuff here. Very useful. It'd be nice if we could find the most recent videos on a subject search. It seems that at one time this could be done.
It can be done by going into filters now. Not as easy as it used to be.

I have something very very cool for this video.
This can only be done on PC.
If you type the word awesome on your keyboard, your video will have an RGB play bar which normally is red. This will turn off when you type the word awesome again. This may cause seizures to epileptic people, so be careful with that setting, because it changes colours very quickly. Also there's no way to change it to a slower setting unfortunately. But it's still very cool.

So here's a PC tips not sure if anyone covered yet...during playback of youtube video,
press V (shows the playback speed in upper-left corner). Click on the speed box indicator to reveal options to increase (+) or decrease (-) playback speed. The arrows are to move 10 seconds forwards (>>) or 10 seconds backwards (

how do you get rid of the small videos that pop up near the end of the video now you're watching and clogs up the screen. Lots of times it covers important summary information on videos. these can be 3 or 4 videos that pop up within the screen of the video. thanks.
Pause the video-K or Spacebar;
Mouseover the offending popups;
Sometimes they'll have a small 'x' top-right, click that.
click on the little gear marker and turn off annotations before you start watching it.

To move forward or backward in the video using the tap method as you have shown has another feature - so you tap twice (on the left for back and on the right for forward) - you can tap THREE times to move forward or back THIRTY SECONDS, TAP FOUR times for FOURTY seconds, so on and so forth!

There is a trick on pc where you type awesome and it starts to show very fast changing colors on the original color red ( timeline+quality )

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but keep tapping on right/left side of screen, will just keep adding 10 seconds forever i.e. 5 taps = 50 seconds (6 taps really since you have to account for the initial double tap).

If you have the video paused, click the , or . key they bring you back 1 frame or forward 1 frame, the , goes back, and the . goes forward!

Since I started using RUclips, my screen has ALWAYS been smaller on the left side & either a chatroom on the right of that or images of other videos. Today I was responding to someone in chat & suddenly my entire screen went to full video & the chat box below. I didn't do anything to cause this...just typing. I hit ESC which did nothing. I rebooted which did not change it back to where it has been for a few yrs. I was hoping to find a solution here, but no luck. Any ideas? Thank you.

Double tap to skip forward 10 sec is not limited to 10secs.
U can change it in settings > general > double tap to seek> and select how many seconds u want....
RUclips trick
On pc when you’re watching a video press j at go 10sec back and press l to go 10sec forward. Also you can pause and play your video my pressing k

If not in fullscreen you can scroll down the comment section. (spacebar)
I previously used the spacebar. The "K" key is better IMO, becuase the video will still pause and play at all times unless you are "clicked" in a text box/field.
another way to do the bookmark subscriptions one is to go at the top were your RUclips search box is and underneeth the search box there will be 3 things to click home trending and subscriptions and when you click subscriptions you will also get the bookmark subscriptions
If u want to mention a specific moment in the video u want to comment about :
Just right in the comments the time , lets say i want to mention something at 2 min and 10 sec ,i will right

Then post the comment , it will be shown as a time stamp , if someone click on it , it will take him to that specific time.
