This is the reason Marcus and Flower Mound are fanboying over their cousin Hebron, so freaking fantastic. To think these 3 schools are in the same district is actually mind blowing.
Hebron got 1st at BOA San Antonio with a score of 95.95 sweeping Captions and then the following Monday/Tuesday, they won 6A State with an ordinal score of 12, all judges had them in 1st except for the percussion judge who put them in 6th. Now, I would say Hebron plays arguably the most difficult and complex music book in the entire world on a high school/even college level. I do not think there is a single HS Band out there that could outplay them. I know for sure if they went to Nationals this year, we would've seen the current Music Caption holder (Avon 2010, 19.8) get broken. Hebron is not a band you would want to compete against. I can not wait to see what kind of show they have plans for next year to one-up this show.
Omg! Is this my favorite reaction video so far?? Maybe. These kids are amazing!! I loved how you were like legit speechless and inspired-of whatever drill and music I ever did in HS, I would be honored to be beat by these kids. Whoa.
The look of satisfaction that kid at the end gets from knowing they did it together and how beautiful and perfect it sounded is everything. I remember we had a really good high school band in my hometown growing up and it sent chills down your spine hearing them playing on your walk home from school and made you feel so proud.
Hi Aidyn! My son is a student at Hebron HS. He went to the BOA Grand Nats in Indy with them a couple of years ago, when they did “Among the Stars” as their show. Definitely another awesome show for you to check out - they got 3rd place finals overall, 1st in music, and received the invitation that year to the Rose Parade in Pasadena for the following year. Unfortunately, the parade was canceled because of the pandemic, and the invite was postponed to this January 1, 2022. They are 63rd position in the parade, if you watch. This is just such an honor deserved for tremendous hard work in practices in the North Texas fall heat on a concrete parking lot. Most all of the “kids” have a great deal of pride in the product, and the program is run with student leadership as well as the faculty Directors. Commitment is expected, as expressed in their motto “All In, All the Time”. There is a great deal of parent participation and volunteerism. So morale runs high. In the area of Carrollton, there are several suburbs with high schools and bands with the same level of commitment to excellence, and there is a great deal of respect for all of the area’s bands, though you sometimes catch that there is friendly and secret rivalry that encourages each band to work harder to beat the others in competitions, LOL. Music that is so complex, played with technical accuracy and expression is truly impressive, as evidenced by this performance of “Penstriped”. The brass bass section and mellophones (euphoniums) have such a full presence and dynamic range in this band, that the “wall of sound” from the field comes firmly into your belly and shakes your being as strongly as being at a rock concert - it’s very immersive!!! Music “felt” and not just heard (sonically undistorted and pleasing) can bring one to tears! Additionally, it is so touching to see young people strive like this to produce excellence and take pride in it. I think the competitions provide additional motivation - to see just “how far they can go”. Competitions are financially expensive (buses, flights, hotels, logistics, meals, uniform cleanings and prep, crates for shipping, snacks and water, drivers, etc.) and not all districts have the sponsors or financial abilities. In that case, most could still afford busses to local day-length district competitions, perhaps. As I’ve indicated, displaying a band’s skills publically motivates them to excel, I believe. It’s also good to share the spotlight - one of the reasons that Hebron doesn’t go to Nationals every year, but the opportunity is circulated among the district’s suburbs. Anyway, it’s been a privilege to give my comments here. I hope that it helps someone out there! Take good care! Keep the vids coming.
I did music warm ups that year for grand nats because of all of the great bands. I made it a point to make sure I had the time slot Hebron was warming up and all of my friends did their best to help me get that shift. Turns out they were the last band on my shift so I got to listen to all of the music warmups and run to the press box and watch them preform. Absolutely amazing show. Still have videos of me fan girling over Hebron and Vandy in their warm up rooms. So many insane music programs in Texas and I was so excited to hear everyone :)

Wow. I have heard many large bands. You said that that may have contributed to the loudness.,I would say that they are in tune which helps to sound louder. Something to do with the physics of sound., a large band that makes lays loud and nasty do not sound like this band, they are just loud. This band show is the best high school show I have ever seen. I marched in high school in the 80s/90s and drum corps in the 90s and a fan of both since. This show is the bomb…..I now have a new band to look up to see what more they have done. Thanks
Thanks so much. As a Hebron band parent, I have attended so many of their rehearsals. I've probably experienced this show 20+ times, if not more. On the end of the ballad, imagine standing 5 feet from them. They are incredibly powerful. Someone up above mentioned that loudness doesn't always mean great sound. Absolutely right. Their sound is pure, in tune and just musically perfect.
And I must said that you are well versed in the marching arts and that’s nice to see someone comment with proper terminology and appreciate and/or critic what you see. I love seeing you react when something impresses you and you smile. And about Texas bands being the best, I marched high school in Kentucky and my director and others always speak of the great Texas bands and that there are so many great ones.
Hebron is absolutely ridiculous. I just finished my last season at Keller High School, another highly decorated group from Texas, but Hebron never fails to make me lose my mind. Who the hell placed 1st ahead of this?!?!?
My guess would be either woodlands or flower mound
Hebron is a 6A school and when I was in school as apart of a 6A school we could march 130 students not including color-guard or props. Please do a review of New Braunfels High school Rogue you can do The path from the same school but the only video does not have all the visuals and sets.
Whats the video of the marching band in this video
whats the link to the video?
I’m part of a class B band in Jasper Indiana and we’ve make it to state finals 32 years in a row and i don’t think we were ever this good but yet Texas and there band it like 2-3 times bigger then ours.
Wow yeah it’s crazy to think about some other schools just have these huge programs and I’m so jealous
I'm in middle school and my band directors brought us there to watch it.
That’s an amazing way to get younger students into band, I hope you had a good time!
I go to Reagan and was in band until this year. Could you make a vid reacting to the Ronald Reagan hs show called secret world please?
do you happen to know Mr. Chavis?
Those kids are amazing
Not comparable to a DCI. But this was absolutely the best high school marching band show of 2021. Wow! Emotion and precision. I wish they went to nationals this year. They were on point
Thank you! We went to the Rose Parade instead. My 15 year old is out there and worked her tail feathers off. So proud of our kids!
Aidyn, just so you know that was a Soprano Sax doing the solo parts in the ballad. I am guessing you are a brass guy. "Kenny G." also plays a Soprano sax. You might want to look him up.
Yes I did know that! That part is very well done!
Both of the small ensembles were great. Even the flute clarinet duo at the start was wonderful. I have judged band festivals and state band festivals for over 30 years. This was the best "band sound" I have ever heard on the field.
me in a 3a school with a 20 member marching band wishing i had a sliver of dci level experience
Hi, I found it totally uninteresting to look as someone is reacting on video. However, just checked Your other vids, and You look to be quite smart and good (rare thing in this times) guy. Keep well. Will subscribe, greetings from Poland.

Isn't wgi winter guard international. That ain't band, it's guard
@@aidynknedgen can you do a reaction video of the william mason high school marching band 2021. They came in 11th at nats this year and the theme was top gun. They had these huge flyover flags that were really cool. Especially from a student/member experance
@@veggie_party115 winter indoor winds was actually just added to wgi a few years ago! wgi is just kind of all-encompassing with winter guard (of course), indoor percussion, and now indoor winds.
@@josiahmacchi4859 only if indoor winds was a thing. If it was my school would do it
