@@thelion2087 I used to admire actors/celebrities when I was young - a long time ago. The last decade or two - I've realized that they're a bunch of "needy, insecure, loners, who, mostly, survived bad childhoods.". All the adoration and attention - Money & Power - that they've received - destroyed their sense of who they are. He must have a lot of anger and hatred to do what he did. Chris Rock handled a difficult and unexpected situation with class, maturity and professionalism. He was assaulted in front of millions of people on live television. Smith should have been escorted from the venue by police, not “asked” to leave. That Smith also later received a standing ovation and an award is utterly absurd. The Academy failed in not vigorously supporting Chris Rock. Immense respect to Chris Rock for how he handled the incident and de-escalated it as well. Character matters and Rock demonstrated that he has it tenfold. Also, props to those who have publicly spoken out in support of Chis Rock. It’s unclear to me as to why there is even a poll at all asking which person was in the wrong in this circumstance. It’s obvious. Smith committed a crime. Thus far, there appear to be no consequences, at least not the consequences that would befall any other American citizen who resorted to violence. Smith’s actions were appalling. Chris Rock did nothing wrong.

      Thats what comedians do.
However he had no idea how this might piss Will Smith off bad enough he acted like a child. Sticks and stones might hurt me, ecpt that sissy slap will gave Chris Rock but names will never hurt me
Well not true becuse they can cut deeper then the welts of a hit. I do not think Chris Rock thought his joke was out of line as he's done thiscinnthe past many many times to aclot of different people and hasn't gotten this kind of response.
We might see his act change a little bit.
I know id be looking out for signs of going too far.

    • @simplekindabb
      @simplekindabb 2 года назад

That's exactly why there is a poll. Not everyone, myself included, thinks "Chris Rock did NOTHING wrong".
      Words have tremendous impact.
And being a comedian who was "just doing his job" does not negate the fact that this joke was done in poor taste. Will Smith, clearly, should have handled the situation in a different way. But this isn't even as lopsided as "the polls" make it out to be.
There is a history of Rock making comments about the man's wife and not just in 2016.
Smith had had enough. But he went too far in his retaliation.
      What was he responding to?
      A bully.
That's what we call it when our kids overeat, cut on themselves, act out at home, do drugs, or, in some cases, kill themselves behind "just words" at school, on social media, etc.
Everyone is talking about how long we will remember the slap.
Well, how long will Jada remember being the tail end of a joke that, specifically, targeted her physical appearance, in front of the entire world?
That old saying, "sticks and stones . . ." is not true.
The fact is that words, not only will hurt you, they can and will scar. They can even kill.

Applause to Jim Carrey and everyone else who speaks out against what Will Smith did. They better ban him from all future award shows. He was violent against someone. The Academy says they told Smith to leave but he refused to leave…..that is unacceptable….when a violent person is told to leave then you should leave. We have freedom of speech….not freedom to assault. I don’t care if he keeps the Oscar because the Oscar had nothing to do with what he did….he wasn’t getting an award for “citizen of the year” or something. Celebrities ought to know that to be a famous person in Hollywood one must have ' Thick skin ' to be able to tolerate all kind of roasting and nagging, most celebrities including the President of the United States takes heavy roasting. Rock just cracked a joke where we all saw Will Smith laughing. Then all suddenly Smith is on stage taking a swing at Rock. Smith is a well known actor who is at least was respected for his work in the field of cinema and was the favorite to win the Oscar. But, he crossed the line, this is not even close to a naked man running on stage behind David Niven, neither Littlefeather speech about the supposed treatment the academy gave Native American. This is an assault witnessed by millions that at it first appeared that is was staged. Rock wasn't making fun of Jada, neither he was making threats to Will's children or to his mother. The ocassion damaged what it seems to be a perfect night at the Oscars it turned out to be a smack to the world. Unless this is a complete hoax to generate millions to publishing entities. Besides, Hollywood is getting bored, every year we have the exact same people attending the Oscars, the same nominees over and over, by the way they forgot to nominee Meryl Streep. There are alot more talent out there, people with great talent and big dreams living under bridges in Los Angeles. And every year we dealing with the same same same.
