can't you guys understand? a gpu with low power consumption 70w no 6 pin no -8 pin rtx 3060 6gb can run every game at 60fps medium -high settings guys this gpu is now the most powerful gpu with no pin cable
Controversial take but the 6500 XT is also an underappreciated GPU, if found for the right price. I was playing Fortnite at 4K high settings with over 90 FPS AVG FPS with 1% lows only dipping down below 80 FPS. Way better than I was expecting. I imagine the 3050 6GB will be similar in that you’ll get solid 1080p High settings gaming with low power consumption for less than $200 USD. I wouldn’t buy these GPUs new but on the used markets, at a significant discount, they’re going to be great for budget gamers.
the only thing that make these gpus bad is the price, the 3050 6gb shouldve been atleast $99 and the 6500xt shouldve been $59 the maximum you should pay for a 3050 6gb should be $120 but they arent, buying a used 6600 is better
Ebay is a bit more, but 1660/1660S/1660ti which are all almost the same card can easily be found 50-60$ pretty regularly on marketplace here. I feel like it's one of the best value cards out there, if not the best, because everyone either forgets it existed entirely or thinks it's part of 10 series. When it's essentially a 2060 without the RTX features. It's significantly cheaper than even a GT 710...
Like many other RUclipsrs , no one is comparing rtx 3050 6gb with the gtx 1650 since both do not need additional power. Why compare it to a gpu that requires additional power? It doesn’t make sense
I think these other GPUs are fair comparisons. Comparing against the GTX 1660 Super argues that saving $100 for a used product isn't worth the lack of DLSS and higher power consumption. Since they trade blows, it is easy to imagine how badly it beats the GFX 1650. Comparing against the RX 6600 argues that spending $20 is probably if you are strictly looking for gaming performance.
Not really here for recommendations (my current build is more than satisfying for my needs right now), only to see how the market evolves and what kind of moves the biggest GPU manufacturer is making these days. Thanks for covering these topics in such a detailed yet condensed way! You're one of the few content creators whose shorts are as interesting to watch as the long form videos.
I’ve only brought this card to fit into a sleeper build/to run as a stream rig. If that’s all you’re going to use it for then might as well go for it. + no power connector needed.
Really appreciate giving the RTX 3050 6GB a fair shake. I think though something you missed out on is comparing the power consumption when gaming. According to TechPowerUp and in at least one game, the RTX 3050 consumes about 50% less power than the 6600 XT. Still very much a corner case but for folks living in areas where electricity is expensive, this NVIDIA option is simply unbeatable.
Where I live I got the rtx 3050 for 180$ taxes and import duty, The rx 6600 was 250$ which was way over budget for me plus I wanted a GPU with no power connector.
What I like about this card is that it's a decent budget performer while only sipping 70 watts. There may be cards that are cheaper to purchase, but a card like this can let you game without inflating your electric bill. The Rx 6400 uses even less at 53 watts, albeit with less RAM and performance.
Just ordered the 3050 low profile for my HP Elite 8300, upgrading my GTX 1650 (D6). Ill resell my 1650 and won't be out to much money for the upgrade. Until I can afford a whole new rig.
you also should mention that a rx6600 has double the watts and that some people that live in a small city probably wont be able to get a used one and that they could have been mined and that the rtx3050 has dlss2 that helps the perfomnance and ik its a skill issue but in my country the rx6600 costs like 25% more but appriciate that you made a video about this gpu
I'm in Canada, and to see these prices in USD is insane. My local computer shop chain store has a new GTX 1650 "NON SUPER" For $309 CAD A year ago, it was $200 for the Super An RX6650XT $330 And forget about getting latest gen anything RX 7600 XT $380 RTX 4060 $430 And the RXT 3050 Starts at $250 Your budget build for $400 would be around $700 in Canada

i mean those prices seem pretty reasonable to me besides the 1650, graphics cards that are discontinued are usually upcharged alot or discounted alot based on how scummy the store is.
Fun fact: Some RTX 3050 cards actually have the new "GeForce RTX" branding used in RTX 4xxx series GPUs instead of the old one used by other RTX 3xxx series GPUs.
Why didn’t nvidia make a 4050. I have one in my laptop and it would probably be similar if not better performance just with dlss and the other better features.
The 3050 6GB has to be one of the saddest GPU I've ever seen, really all 0050 series weren't the best anyways. For $170, it's a total robbery IMO. Thanks for being honest Zach.
I was hoping it came with its own power supply both I guess I was wrong. I don't know anything about PCs that's how I got here... I just needed something better for editing 4k drone and 4k GoPro videos in Filmora so time will tell. All I know is lawn mowers, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
This sounds like an OEM-only card that ended up getting a wider general release due to a void in the pre-200 dollar card in the Nvidia lineup. EDIT: I expect this to flood the low end pre-built market soon enough from vendors like Dell
You'd wish that was true. An RTX 3050 would be perfect in a SFF OEM PC. But the truth is they have a lot of 3050 silicon that isn't up to par and are selling as a lower clock version.
Some OEMs sell "gaming" PCs and use *50 series GPUs in them... if they didn't already put in a Ryzen or Intel APU. Anyway the *50 series has been around a long time.
@@travis1240 Very true, the *50 series has been a staple of higher end OEM "desk PCs" for a long time. But this particular 3050 is just bad silicon that's being sold at a discount. The card per se isn't necessarily bad, the nomenclature and marketing is sketchy.
This might catch a fire, but the fact 3050 consumes less power than 1660 super and can still run good games close to 1660 super performance, is just hard for me to ignore. I'm the type of guy who prefers efficiency over graphics so, as long as I can play 1080p medium or high, 60 fps in some none competitive games is enough. Edit: I think people pays more attention to the performance and doesn't really pay attention to the power consumption. Just imagine how much money you can save with non-power hungry gpu. Might be more worth it than to pay twice amount on your electricity bill on 130w gpu.
It's the best card with no required power. It's only for a used optiplex. I think a better comparison would be to compare an optiplex+3050 6gb to a from scratch budget build of the same price
I used to run a power supply from around 2004 on my PC build - and I got the 1050 as a graphics card to complement it. It was OK. Then I decided I wanted more performance and so I swapped the power supply and put a used 1070 in there. Huge huge difference. I'm still using that 1070 but going to upgrade to the 4070 Super. Anyway the point is, if there is an opportunity to swap the power supply and stick in an older card from a higher series, that's usually better than constraining yourself to the *50 series. A 1070 still beats the pants off a 3050 and for cheaper (including the new power supply).
Hey Zach, i am a new viewer and i am loving your content. I am the tech guy in my friend group so i am always helping them with their problems and i found you through that. Now i have a small question here you can just give me a yes or no answer. My friend is saving up for a new gaming system, he is going into civil engineering and need a powerful pc or laptop. He still wants to be able to game so he wont go apple. Now should he get a really high end gaming pc (which we are planning to have a Ryzen 7000 series CPU so we have an upgrade path) and running everything off of that or get a really good gaming laptop that can do everything and take it with him to class. His budget is around 1,300 dollars. you don't have to find us a laptop or what goes best with that Ryzen CPU i just want do what is best for him. Don't have to make a video just one or the other. Thanks for everything have a good one.
I have been using the Thermalright SI-100 as my cooler of choice and since I have heat sinks on my VRMs. The over-hanged portion the have is over my low-profile ram. Can't verify myself but, I am hoping there is some extra airflow over my ram.
This makes me hate modern PC's. I soo miss the days when it was just Voodoo 2 that dominated everything, instead of being confused and unsure of what GPU is actually worth a damn.
That's all well and good, but the power draw numbers? Yeah, other cards are double the fps and will cost $100 in more electric. Rarely does the power cost get mentioned.
Power draw is half and no need for a psu. It helps in developing countries but for usa 30 dollars for a psu is a few hours wage but in India is it's 1/2 or 1/4 th of salary for people.
i really dont care what people say about rtx 3050 i know its a bad card but when you go from a gt 710 to rtx 3050 you know its a big diff and i am in love with this card and also here in india gpu pricese are wired i started watching tech after getting the gpu and now i watch along with some other crator daily and i love your video but still dont care what people say about rtx 3050 cause from gt 710 to rtx 3050 is a gods gift.

Really enjoy your content Zach. Just a friendly note - your mic audio is quite muffled compared to most other yt'ers. Hard to get intelligibility with noisy backgrounds.
i really dislike when people say "it can easily be had on the used market" yes for you maybe. not for everyone, if you are comparing price to performance between cards, use their new pricing or what their msrp was if you can no longer buy one new.. it's just annoying. i could say a gtx 1070 can be had "easily" on the used market for under 100$ and it beats both the gtx 1660 super and the 3050 8/6gb, so its the better buy. doesn't mean you can go get one for that price.. it actually costed 380 at launch, and was around 300 by the time it stopped being sold new. comparing a new price of a card vs a used price of a card is a dumb practice as it's not the same everywhere unlike what the "new" price is. compare new vs new/msrp or used vs used, don't mix and match as it doesn't apply to the majority of people outside the US and even some in the US, you're not the only country in the world. geeez
A Dream come true for Low Power consumption cards for the price , No need to buy a A2000 and Its Sad most tech Reviews Dont mentioned the Fact it uses 70W , 5W less than the GTX1650(GDDR6) and its small enough for small cases, require a minimum 300W PSU so even a 250W OR A 180W power supply should be fine if you dont have a demending amount of quality FANS, STORAGE, RAM + RGB and such Emulating games Is a no brainer with it
Looking foreward to use this card in my SteamLibraryPC to stream to my SteamDeck. Should have enough power for the small display and consume less enough idle to let it run 24/7 with german energy prices in mind. The AMD cards I had so far all used much more in idle then any of the nVidia cards I ever had.
can a major graphics card company finally make a card that doesnt need an external psu but is actually somewhat comparable to other options? (not counting a niche like the ones the 3050 6gb has)
@@Shatterfury1871 well thats 200 dollars more then my budget, i really dont have a budget since im selling my optiplex 990 in the future for 500 dollars which has 12 gb of DDR 3 and a gtx 970 with an aftermarket 650 WATT huntkey PSU but no SSD
Would be great for cheap very small itx from PC for like 3D moddeling and rendering. Yes, i know it is bad but watch out for the word 'cheap'. Better than laptops with integrated GPU as it would run quietly and u still get the benefitial ergonomics of PC while still keeping a lot of desk space.
Looking to slot this into a 5060SFF to upgrade my 1650 LP. I got a larger psu (200w to 460w) and have seen someone got this to work on a 180w, so I'm not worried about that, Just worried that the improvement is worth the price over the 1650.
Why tf will they release a graphic card which can get outperformed by 5 year old ones in most cases (and they were not even flagships of that year) But am confident still people are gonna buy it, one of my classmate actually bought it lol.
The one GPU that really sinks the new 3050 is the A580. Currently $165 and performance on par with an RX 6600 or RTX 2060. The only redeeming quality of the 3050 is the lack of any external power. I’m glad Nvidia is trying to come out with new gpus that don’t need external power, but obviously this should be a $120-140 card. Unfortunately it won’t drop to that range until Nvidia gives up on trying to offload the despicably prices 1630 which somehow occupies that price range.
What is very attractive about this offering is the low profile variant be it a dual slot one for $189. But I have a Dell Optiplex small form factor rocking an i7 2600 and a GTX 1050 ti as my HTPC in my living room. How much performance will I gain with just replacing the current GTX 1050 ti and still keep the i7 2600? Considering upto i7 3xxx are the only SFF having the PCI-x 16 next to the CPU to accommodate dual slot low profile cards, anything else above, they've moved the slot to the right, so you can only use single slot low profile.
Actually seems good for budget build 1080P gaming but the only issue is, as the same with 90% other Nvidia product is the price.. if only this cost 150 it would be a jazz of a deal
Pls make a vid on all the ryzen gpus with a proper elaboration on the 1440p parts and options . (I have 7500f / 7600 )(I could steal the 7600 from by sibling)
hey Zach, I have a question, I'm helping a friend to find pc parts for his pc. his main game is Fortnite, he also told me that he's planning to play on the performance mode in that game. He's on a budget and wants a cheap but good value graphics card that will work well on Fortnite. Now, I've heard that many people that play Fortnite on AMD cards expercience a lot of freezes and stutters. I don't know if this is fully true or that those people just messed up something, I also can't test it myself since i have an Nvidia system. So now I'm curious, did you ever experience crashes stutters or freezes on AMD cards while testing Fortnite?
Judging by the numbers, it seems more like 38% rather than just 28%. Seen a benchmark where it was barely besting 1650 Super. Can't explain Counter Strike , but if you had faster CPU in Valorant , RX6600 would likely win comfortably. 13600 or something. IF CS and Counterstrike lowered the averages it means that averaging is EXTREMELY missleading. Which is why I extremely dislike it where such averages are shown.
None of these will require a power connector, that's why they cut it down. Should be a "3040" but for a low profile/no external power connector at 160 ish it's okay. I picked up a full 3050 for the same 160 used as i needed a single fan size card for my case and don't need a 4060/ti atm.
The brand new 3050 low profile 6gb is looking pretty awesome though... I want to build a mini ITX 5.6 liter mini PC with a lp 3050 and a ryzen 5 5500. The LP 3050 is 180 new off amazon rn which is wild considering no other LP GPU in that price range really comes close. And it's half the price of a LP 4060.
the LP version of this card got really affordable today, I mean, cheaper than the 6600 for more than 20 bucks. If it wasn't a lp I wouldn't consider it, and the 4060 LP is too costly and may be wasted in $ and potential.
I was gonna buy an rx 6600 some days ago, planned it and kept an eye out for offers then I ran into an rtx 3060 12gb for 190 dollars... seeing the rtx 3050 6gb for 190 dollars is pretty nuts
In Aotearoa prices are really inflated with Intel and NVIDIA, and AMD is actually cheaper with everything. The 6600 is over a hundred dollars (NZD) cheaper than the 3050 6GB.

can't you guys understand?
a gpu with low power
consumption 70w no 6 pin no -8 pin
rtx 3060 6gb can run every game at 60fps medium -high settings
guys this gpu is now the most powerful gpu with no pin cable
no power connection to graphics card!!!!!! coolest thing ive seen in a while.
I wouldn’t buy these GPUs new but on the used markets, at a significant discount, they’re going to be great for budget gamers.
the only thing that make these gpus bad is the price, the 3050 6gb shouldve been atleast $99 and the 6500xt shouldve been $59
the maximum you should pay for a 3050 6gb should be $120 but they arent, buying a used 6600 is better
Honestly it may not be the "ideal Upgrade" but going from a 750 to this should be a pretty big leap right?
Oh sure. It's much more powerful than 750 or 1050 cards.
Nvidia is slowly becoming apple 📘
Slowly?
@@ZachsTechTurf maybe even worse than apple 💀
I got a great deal on the Palit 3050 StormX 6GB. My previous GPU was a 1050 2GB, and I'm really happy with the upgrade!
Don't assume we are all here because we need a gpu, I just built my pc I'm only here because I'm curious
Same
Not really here for recommendations (my current build is more than satisfying for my needs right now), only to see how the market evolves and what kind of moves the biggest GPU manufacturer is making these days.
I think it might be an ok choice for a dedicated streaming PC for people doing 2 PC set ups. Has access to NVidia Broadcast and it's features.
I just bought this card yesterday from amazon, its being delivered today to me, I am so looking forward to using the asus rtx 3050 6gb
I bought this GPU yesterday on backorder because I need the Nvenc encoders for video editing.
How's going this gpu 3050 ...i orderd this for video editing ....good or bad ?
I have i7 3770k and Gtx 1050 ti on my HP compaq pro 6300 i think the 3050 6GB will be worth for me
i bought a 3050 8gb before i even knew about the 6600 😢
Great! Enjoy Path Tracing then.
Just ordered the 3050 low profile for my HP Elite 8300, upgrading my GTX 1650 (D6). Ill resell my 1650 and won't be out to much money for the upgrade. Until I can afford a whole new rig.
Very glad to see you use my exact office pc as an example, this card may not be special to the elite, but for the niche it is very appreciated
you also should mention that a rx6600 has double the watts and that some people that live in a small city probably wont be able to get a used one and that they could have been mined and that the rtx3050 has dlss2 that helps the perfomnance and ik its a skill issue but in my country the rx6600 costs like 25% more but appriciate that you made a video about this gpu
I'm in Canada, and to see these prices in USD is insane. My local computer shop chain store has a new GTX 1650 "NON SUPER" For $309 CAD
A year ago, it was $200 for the Super
An RX6650XT $330
And forget about getting latest gen anything
RX 7600 XT $380
RTX 4060 $430
And the RXT 3050 Starts at $250
Your budget build for $400 would be around $700 in Canada
Me in Australia with my $500 3050 6gb pathetic
Seriously though rtx 4060’s are like $20 more and Rx 6600 can also be found for cheaper our market is a mess pls send help.
Me too man. No matter how much I want to upgrade the performance/looks of mine, I just can't pull the trigger... Its just too expensive
i mean those prices seem pretty reasonable to me besides the 1650, graphics cards that are discontinued are usually upcharged alot or discounted alot based on how scummy the store is.
En Argentina una rtx 3050 esta entre les 450 / 500 USD y el salario promedio es De 300 USD.

Yeah, I'm sure there's a ton of real estate agents who want to build budget custom rigs who would love to use this to show off bathroom renders.
Thanks for everything have a good one.
zach you said in a short you weren’t low profile so does that mean you’re a 4090
5090
pricing and naming is bit weird but it is the fastest GPU without external power
I have been using the Thermalright SI-100 as my cooler of choice and since I have heat sinks on my VRMs. The over-hanged portion the have is over my low-profile ram. Can't verify myself but, I am hoping there is some extra airflow over my ram.
At this point i think NVIDIA is just trolling us.
This makes me hate modern PC's.
I soo miss the days when it was just Voodoo 2 that dominated everything, instead of being confused and unsure of what GPU is actually worth a damn.
This is going be the 1650 of its generation. The ultimate Dell Inspiron/Vostro/Optiplex gaming PC maker for the budget baller.
Personally i love the card i saw it for sale at my local pc shop marked at 40% off and one per customer and have been using it for the last month or so and have upgraded from a gtx 1650 that was in a prebuilt ive been slowly buying and upgrading since 2019 and the upgrade is amazing it went from barely hitting 60 fps on modded asseto corsa with it scaled to 77% to somehow running it at 1920x1080p at 140fps after turning my settings up
If manufacturer brand makes a difference on the card mine is made by PNY
Really enjoy your content Zach. Just a friendly note - your mic audio is quite muffled compared to most other yt'ers. Hard to get intelligibility with noisy backgrounds.
agree
i really dislike when people say "it can easily be had on the used market"
yes for you maybe. not for everyone, if you are comparing price to performance between cards, use their new pricing or what their msrp was if you can no longer buy one new..
it's just annoying.
i could say a gtx 1070 can be had "easily" on the used market for under 100$ and it beats both the gtx 1660 super and the 3050 8/6gb, so its the better buy. doesn't mean you can go get one for that price.. it actually costed 380 at launch, and was around 300 by the time it stopped being sold new. comparing a new price of a card vs a used price of a card is a dumb practice as it's not the same everywhere unlike what the "new" price is.
compare new vs new/msrp or used vs used, don't mix and match as it doesn't apply to the majority of people outside the US and even some in the US, you're not the only country in the world.
The AMD cards I had so far all used much more in idle then any of the nVidia cards I ever had.

the 3050 is the only card in my area that's being sold almost at msrp and all the other cards are double to triple their suggested prices
Thanks for the recommendation going to pick this up as I have geforce 1030 GT and doesn't seem to cut most games I play.
Zach is it ok if you use a controller instead of keyboard and mouse on a pc?
No , it's illegal
Would be great for cheap very small itx from PC for like 3D moddeling and rendering. Yes, i know it is bad but watch out for the word 'cheap'. Better than laptops with integrated GPU as it would run quietly and u still get the benefitial ergonomics of PC while still keeping a lot of desk space.
Looking to slot this into a 5060SFF to upgrade my 1650 LP. I got a larger psu (200w to 460w) and have seen someone got this to work on a 180w, so I'm not worried about that, Just worried that the improvement is worth the price over the 1650.
Why tf will they release a graphic card which can get outperformed by 5 year old ones in most cases (and they were not even flagships of that year)
But am confident still people are gonna buy it, one of my classmate actually bought it lol.
The rtx 3050 ain’t that bad in performance is just horribly priced but I have found a few for around £150 in the uk 📘
Correct
The other cards all have a 8-pin connector. Also the RTX 3050 6gb model comes in a LP version.
I'm personally interested because Palit is releasing a passively cooled 3050 6gb which is going to be perfect for my itx 0 noise PC I'm building
This is perfect for my friend whose allergic to power connectors in gpu and prefers onboard mobo power. It's literally a plug in ready rtx 1060

hey Zach,
I have a question, I'm helping a friend to find pc parts for his pc. his main game is Fortnite, he also told me that he's planning to play on the performance mode in that game.
Have a TG01 HP Pavillion gaming PC. Power supply is 300W. The 3050 that replaced my 1650 GTX is tons better.
hey Zach what do you think about a 200$ only performance gaming pc no asthetics
Upgrade for the 6400. Really nice for low power builds in a small case
I run a GTX 1080 r7 1700 on my wall Pc.
A RTX 4070 r7 5800x on the other. Both work sexy.

Where power consumption?
And it's half the price of a LP 4060.
rtx 3050 costs 140$ rn on sale and rx 6600 xt used is 179$. also rx 6500 costs 140$ which should i get?
the LP version of this card got really affordable today, I mean, cheaper than the 6600 for more than 20 bucks. If it wasn't a lp I wouldn't consider it, and the 4060 LP is too costly and may be wasted in $ and potential.
I was gonna buy an rx 6600 some days ago, planned it and kept an eye out for offers
then I ran into an rtx 3060 12gb for 190 dollars...
seeing the rtx 3050 6gb for 190 dollars is pretty nuts
In Aotearoa prices are really inflated with Intel and NVIDIA, and AMD is actually cheaper with everything. The 6600 is over a hundred dollars (NZD) cheaper than the 3050 6GB.
I bought this Video Card for my Plex Server.. No external Power was a huge sell point.. and 0db fans.
