Every time I seem to get burnt out from making the same things, you always give me new ideas that open up tons of opportunities. I appreciate your creativity
One of the best bowls of yours I’ve seen, I’m binge watching your videos today, looking for inspiration and your rim detail has me and a few others thinking of embellishments for our turnings 😅
Tomislav you have a superb eye for design and style and your turning technique is excellent. Thanks for producing these outstanding educational videos.
Very well done Tomislav. I really like your technique of carving the band. It adds a unique look to the piece. Going to have to try that. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely beautiful Tomislav. And I love the grain of the pair, don't think it is unremarkable at all. I turn Beach which is very plain, warps a lot and high tendency to crack but it turns very nicely and easy to get smooth cuts.
Many different skills used to produce a beautiful finished product. I generally do not like attempts to add post turning features but your technique is just a wonderful result....it's perfect. I suggest you find a way to burn those turning chips to heat your shop. I am cold just watching your video.
Well done tommi, I like the effect a lot. It doesn’t look too difficult to do, but it would still take me hours to do the first time. Great video welll described.thanks.
Nice. I've used milk paint in various ways on bowl and platter work for years, especially for enhancing carved textures and the like. A topcoat sanded back to reveal undercoat(s) of different colors can be very effective. I often use a Scotchbrite pad, or the equivalent abrasive non-woven pad, at various stages in the process of rubbing back to reveal the undercoat. Sometimes sandpaper is a little too aggressive and the pads also can nicely burnish the milk paint, especially in crevices where sanding cannot reach. Milk paint is great stuff. Tough as nails when fully cured, and because it comes as a powder you can mix just what you need and the shelf life is pretty much unlimited.
Thank you sir for advice on scotch bride pad, I'll try that method as well.... Indeed its great stuff,I have several bowls in everyday use with milk paint and its as it was the day 1... Thank you for watching
Wonderful work. You and Mr. Richard are my favorite turners to watch. I’m learning much from ya’ll. What chuck and jaws are you using? Thanks you so much for the time and effort. It is appreciated.
Thank you, so glad you enjoy our work.... I use vicmark chucks and jaws, one is 40mm shark jaws I believe and bigger ones are 100mm.... Also have one jaws 50mm...hope that helpes
The embellishment looks great. What do you think about doing the same thing but recessed so the carved surface stays within the bowl curve instead of proud? I learn so much from your videos. Heartfelt thanks!
Thank you for watching and comment, well I think whenever you make something like this it will be ok, the key is to know when to stop, to me almost every carving looks awsome
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have searched the Crown site but only find it available in theirM2 HSS (261xw)range and it seems only in American stockists. I am in France.
@@geofftidy8745 I would go with m2, there is little differents between the two... There is ks schulte in Germany and type vicmark dealers in Europe and you'll find a woodturning store in France that sell I believe crown tools.... But most other like KS or neurother in Austria sell to France... Most of scrapers and good enough for our work are M2 so you are ok with that 😉
I like how the carved band stands proud. Very nice!

That is a very nice looking bowl. A bit more figure in that pear than I'm used to. Thanks for a demonstration of yet more technique.
Thank you ☺️ I wasn't expecting a lovely grain like this as well , but turns out to be quite nice

Interesting technique, thank you for another great video. A crackling finish would work well maybe, will give that a go.
Go for it 😀 thank you for watching

Beautifully done, Tomislav! I think you will have fun doing these going forward. Thanks!
Thank you sir...I do too😀
Very nice work. I suggest instead of bright cool colors like blue and yellow, try using warmer tones like burgundy, dark oranges and dark greens.
Will do... thank you for suggestion
very nise
Thank you
The boss says she really likes this so I will be copying you!!
I really enjoy your channel!!
Glad to hear that, let me know how it goes 🤗
What grit sandpaper did you use to do the distressing part? Your videos are great!!
Thank you very much 🤗 it was 240grit but you can use scotch bride pad, or pretty much anything....all those can sometimes leave different finish...
Great bowl. Could you please tell me the make of your spear point scraper. Many thanks.
Thank you, its from crown tools, I believe its there cryogenic line

Hello, what is the difference of the result of sanding with a power sander versus the inertia sander?
Usually inertia sander will remove most of sanding marks as it spins with direction
@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Thank you.
