Drawing the head is simple with the Loomis method. This simple structure helps you draw the head from ANY angle. See more examples in the full video, below the title of this Short!
I know this isn't exactly groundbreaking but, your instruction, speaking voice, cadence, and imagery are all easy to follow and quite pleasant. I do appreciate your vidoes.
@Jiggyanimates We have a playlist of lesson about drawing facial features on our channel. We can't share clickable links in Shorts but check out our playlists and you'll see one called "How to Draw Facial Features"
This makes it so much easier, too! I've been practicing drawing faces this past week, and already I'm pretty proud of them so far. Having more ways to simplify and ease the process is great! Thank you for what you do!
Love this method. I've always had trouble with drawing faces in different angles, even when using references, and always ended up with the same face syndrome. this method helps sooooo much, I'm very proud of my recent drawings using this method ❤️ thank you Proko
So, how do you know how big to make the circle on the side of the head? Also, speaking of the Loomis method, how can one best study the book? Some of the "plates" have more complex images than later ones. Also, your name is Stan Prokopenko, right? Is the "Stan" short for Stanislav? 😅
The oval will always be 2/3 the height of the sphere that is the cranium. I recommend picking up one of his books if you want to study from one. There are digital and physical versions available from several publishers. And yep! Stanislav.
@@ProkoTV Regarding the second question, I already own his book. I was asking how to use his Head and Hands book. Some of the "plates" in it are more advanced then others. Do I not study them in order?
... This is so useful tho, now that i understand shapes and such... IF I SAW THIS A YEAR AGO I WILL ONLY LEARN HOW TO DO THE THING HE DID NOW I WILL USE IT FOR MY OWN GOOD YAHAHAHAHA
The absolute best head drawing guide! I haven't drawn in many years. But seeing this made me tempted to try. Felix (pewdiepies) 100 day drawing challenge is also great motivation. In the end, i just need to draw what i like. And not stress about making progress. That was my main mistake from back then
This is some draw the owl bs 😂 love your tutorials man, it always points out something that makes me go "OF COURSE!" and want to draw, though I have yet to do so. Maybe you could do a tutorial to get past my fear of failure
This is a great practice! The only question I have is... How would this work on an anime style? It may sound weird to think of it differently, but anime is usually very different from most styles. Would the guidelines differ? Just thought I might throw this question out there. 🙂
This is a common question! The Loomis head is an average. You use it as a baseline to modify and change as needed. There may be some proportional changes, depending on the type of character but the core principles of how you indicate placement of the features, define the angle of the head and more will remain the same.
Yep! I use it for a lot, personally. Figure drawing, portraiture, gesture drawing and tons more. You can find a bunch of videos on how I use it and what for all over our channel.
If you try this dont be disappointed if it looks doodle thats the beuty of it making mistakes cause it is you're first time the more you learn the more this sketch will be easy
For this exercise, we are going to give our portrait delightfully kissable lips.

Be wary not to let the power sway you towards evil, it is a dangerous path, be careful.
I’ll do that right now and I’ll try to do what they tell me to do as well

You lost me at "start with a circle"

The absolute best head drawing guide!

In the end, i just need to draw what i like. And not stress about making progress. That was my main mistake from back then
i tried to do the even space thing with my face and my face is uneven (i have a giant ass forehead)
Them focusing on how he did it:
Me focusing on his pencil:
My dumbass brain gonna draw this face only towards the left side now 😭😭
I have Art training material.. pencil drawing
Why did the structure look like iron man face without the details
This is some draw the owl bs 😂 love your tutorials man, it always points out something that makes me go "OF COURSE!" and want to draw, though I have yet to do so. Maybe you could do a tutorial to get past my fear of failure
We have a whole Draftsmen podcast about that! We can drop links in Shorts comments but it's season 3, episode 21
After I drew the structure and he drew the whole face I was like
✏️😡
Am i wierd for not making guidelines when drawing something?
This is a great practice! The only question I have is... How would this work on an anime style? It may sound weird to think of it differently, but anime is usually very different from most styles. Would the guidelines differ? Just thought I might throw this question out there. 🙂

Reminds me of that time Squidward ask SpongeBob to draw a circle
This remind me of the way Spongebob draw a circle in Squidward's art class
Why does mine look like the new world order.. it’s crazy haha

Holy... a few days ago my art teacher showed this video (long form) to my class. AND NOW ITS ON MY FYP 😭😭
The pencils you have are so unique
the pencil he's using seems to look like just a pencil that's been shaved and sharpened longer
