- I purchased an aftermarket riser for the Work Sharp® Elite Knife Sharpening Solution. It makes sharpening easier and helps you keep a consistent edge angle. I got the idea from @SharperByMichael . Be sure to subscribe to Michael's RUclips Channel.
I purchased it on Etsy:

I thought it was a unique upgrade and will come in handy for the workshop.

Description from Jon at PrintSharpCo
Introducing a 3-piece adapter set 3D printed to enhance your knife sharpening experience on the Worksharp knife sharpening system with the Ken Onion Blade Grinding attachment. This innovative design elevates the base reference surface closer to the sharpening area on the belt, ensuring a consistent and precise angle during the sharpening process. While its primary purpose is to optimize sharpening, some users may find it doubles as a convenient work rest while sharpening.
Included in this set are two versatile sliders that move back and forth, allowing you to get even closer to the belt's surface during use. Please do be careful not to touch the belt or it will wear away the slider. The pointed slider offers exceptional access for smaller knives and those with full bolsters.
- Improves angle consistency during sharpening and can also be used as a work rest
- Designed for the Worksharp system with the Ken Onion blade Grinding attachment
- Features two sliders for enhanced proximity to the belt.
Please note that this 3-piece set is tailored exclusively for the Worksharp system with the Ken Onion Blade Grinding attachment. It won't fit other Worksharp systems without this specific attachment. Installation is a breeze, simply slide it onto the right-hand side of the sharpener.
Our product is manufactured under license from the original authors (u/Potrnak02 & u/Timinator6) with their permission. We've made slight design modifications to enhance tolerances, resulting in a snug fit on the base of the blade grinding attachment. Moreover, we've added resistance to the top plates to secure them firmly in place. Upon arrival, the sliders may be a tad tight. If smoother gliding is desired, apply a drop or two of your preferred lubricant to the channels on the riser.
Crafted from PLA plastic filament using 3D printing technology, these adapters are rigid, though not intended for heavy downward pressure. Expect some minor blemishes on the inside (underside during use) of the sliders, a natural outcome of the manufacturing process and support removal. Elevate your knife sharpening game with this meticulously designed adapter set.

Thanks for the great video on this riser I'm making. It's been a wild ride and I'm working hard at filling your guys orders
I added your @liquidretro to the video description. I hope you get some orders and subscriptions to your channel.
@@sharpenrightservicesllc thanks,. Ore risers coming in about a week
I noticed on the Etsy site that this item will not work on the new mark ii. Will you be making a version for the new mark ii?
The riser modification is great for doing bigger knives, something I've always struggled with on the work sharp.
I have bought this add-on for my Work Sharp works and it makes my life easier well worth the few dollars. Get it you will be happier like I was. Thank you Mike
Thanks for sharing
I got it and I love it. Just adds more confidence in your angle.
Sweet!!!
I just ordered one, thanks!
Wonderful item! I purchased 4 sets of these and I love these. I use mine with both the sliding platform and without the sliding platform. It brings the knife closer to the belt and am still able
to keep the proper angle that I am using. Makes life a lot easier for using the grinder!
Do they have one for axes
That is a really cool piece for the worksharp system! I really appreciate the consistency it offers. I think one of the biggest things it would help with is doing single beveled cutting tools more especially like scissors. I was thinking of using that with the stiff belts and setting the roller wheel to the closest setting to reduce the deflection and try to match the flatter grind that is on most scissors. Thanks for putting out these videos. I especially appreciated the one you did on the paper cutters. It enabled me to help one of my friends today and restore his 20 year old paper cutter to having prime cutting action.
I found it on youtube.com/@SharperByMichael

What a great idea, thanks for the link.
You bet!
I got mine recently. Haven’t set it up yet but you’re making look effortless!
It’s a nice little addition to the work sharp and we’re supporting a small business guy at the same time
Nice mod! I'm still working on a platform solution I'm going to be happy with on my Aliexpress 1x30 (the one with the sewing machine motor styled like a 2x48). You can sharpen freehand and get great results with practice, but the flatform always seems to give a superior edge. Aesthetically I think it look much better especially if you're using more than a couple of belts. When you sharpen freehand, each belt change will add more to the subtle convex which isn't always what you're going for.
So many ways to sharpen. Lots of great machines.
the curved part is incase the scales get in the way.. this is a brilliant edition. I may buy this sharpener now that this is available.
I need to pick up this mod!!! I love my WorkSharp but… on smaller blades, I find my hand hitting the machine when I prep for sharpening off the left side. This should help that.
It's on Etsy. He's a young entrepreneur.....please support him. It works great for pocket knives.
interesting ...
Ordered my riser. then had to cancel. Was so excited that it was made that i didn't realize it didnt fit the mk2. Hopefully one day.
Don’t waste your money. It’s more of a pain to deal with then it’s worth.
Oh really why? Seems like it is so useful.
@@sharpenrightservicesllc Just got my mk2, returning it for the mk1 and getting this riser.
It's just slows sharpening down. Just my opinion. Good luck!
@sharpenrightservicesllc I think i will do without it and just practice freehand till I'm good. I get what you are saying.
I bought one of these, now that the KO Mk2 is shipping with the new BGA, I'm curious if this fits the new one as well?
I have no idea.
No unfortunately. Stated all over the description.
I can’t find that attachment anywhere. Did he stop making them?
Looks like he’s sold out

If you have access to a 3D printer you can download the file and print it yourself for free.
your worksharp videos after this don't show you using this attachment. why is that?
I do use it; mainly on pocket knives. It is useful.
👍
How does this mod cope with thumbstuds?
You can slide it back-and-forth to work around if you need to.
@@sharpenrightservicesllc Thanks ,im waiting on delivery now.
That's an excellent question & something I hadn't thought about.
The Ken onion is such a better machine and simpler .
I was skeptical until I bought it and have played with it a while. It's a perfect, light weight fast sharpener. Thanks's for watching. It is appreciated.
Seems unnecessary. I don’t even use the little table, I just freehand it. It’s not hard to hold the knife level. Even if you’re a little bit off, you still get a great edge. The only thing you really need to watch out for is rounding your tips. Soon as the tip makes contact with the belt, lift it off and don’t hesitate. To me this is like saying, “wow, I found these little plastic wheels you put on the back wheel of your bike so you don’t have to worry about balancing when you’re riding!”
I have shaky hands and this has mod has helped a lot.
