The Creepiest thing I found in DA games? Was in Inquisition, the words of Coryphius. "I have seen the throne of the gods and it was empty." Its not only what it implies, as in there is no maker there are no gods there is no one looking out for the people of Thedas, but also that the only power at play in the world is the blight and its unstoppable march, the only dam being the dwarven realms and even without an archdemon once that dam breaks the world is doomed.
one should consider that based on what we now know of the Elven Gods..that they were just REALLY powerful mages, and that the Dreadwolf is the one who built the veil in the first place, having the unintended side effect of making all elves mortal and WRECKING the world as he knew it...that Coryphius may have broken into the wrong house and ASSUMED it was the Maker's.
@@halitsoyler9832 No. Corypheus said in DA2, that said city was already black and empty when they entered. I think that if that city was ever gold, or even "maker" was truly there(there is literally no evidence that Maker was EVER in that city, nor that it was CREATED BY HIM, it is just what followers of Andraste believe) i think he would left after Fen'Harrel created Veil. But i more preffer my theory, which states that Golden City was created/changed by the banished Elven Gods. They left Blight there and hoped that some day, someone will be stupid enough to physically enter it. Hell, i would not be even surprised, if "old gods" and "elven gods" were connected and through those dragons, "elven gods" whisppered to the magisters, so that they ensure that their "gift", The Blight, is unleashed. And that would make their people(elves) desperate enough to bring their "gods" back.
It's empty because, for starters, most of the old gods have been turned into archdemons. One was saved through Kieran, another being Mythal and third being Solas/Fenarel. All of them residing on Thedas/the human world. As far as we know, there's no other spiritual beings of that caliber in the Fade, much less inside the Black City.
@@alexsolomon8127the whole Maker subject is still open to be proven true or not. A lot of Lore points to there being a Maker. The Urn of Sacred Ashes being solid, massive proof, along with the continued existence of the Guardian and the Ash Wraiths Who were once Andrauste's followers and loved ones Certain demons even acknowledged the existence of the Maker.
Broodmother one caught me off guard when I first played it. As soon as I heard they were violated I was disgusted and hated the darkspawn like I hate goblins.
Dragon Age definitely needs to up the horror atmosphere again. The first dragon age gave me that constant feeling of dread throughout the whole game. I like that kinda stuff.
Not sure if you have played Dragons Dogma, I started it a few days ago and that has a very dark atmosphere to it too. A bit of a janky game but the freedom of class system is second to none
The horror vibe was more fitting for that narrative anyway, since it was all about a tide of mindless darkness threatening to consume the world. Inquisition had some horror themes to it (seeing the future of Thedas if Corypheus succeeds), but it was meant to feel more heroic, uniting the world against the big bad. DA2 was just Hawke's story, so the atmophere fit whatever villain du jour they were dealing with. Veilguard likely won't have a horror atmosphere either, because the villain (or perhaps antagonist would be a better term) is meant to feel like a sympathetic villain, one who does terrible deeds for noble intentions. Shame Solas hasn't learned from history. Every terrible event that rocked Thedas was precipitated by someone powerful who thinks they know better than everyone.
I never realized the situation with Kitty was so difficult. But I'm the kind of person who maxes out my persuasion skill as soon as possible in DAO because of how much stuff it lets you get away with. Started a new full run of the series recently and I still miss the tone of Origins that was dimmed a bit in the next games, especially with the redesign of the Darkspawn making them look more like generic fantasy zombie monsters instead of the corrupted forms of each race Tolkien style. They never felt as intimidating as the original designs. Tevinter Nights definitely helped bring that creepiness back in full force (you can find bits of it in 2 and Inquisition but it always felt like they were holding back in comparison) and I hope Dreadwolf really dives back into the darkness Origins set up.
Oh I so agree with the Darkspawn redesign being awful, if anything I would have tried to make them even more monstrous, their blood is poison, their breath is toxic, their very being is corruption. Would strip away most of the armors since they mostly just scavenge and loot, attack in hordes, mindless like a thundering wave, no fear, no mercy, no remorse. Bleh and they gave them uniform armor and weapons bleeh.
Like most, I hate the darkspawn redesign. Totally ruins the games for me when you see them. They are laughably bad. The originals are great and truly build on the terror aspect of the game.
@@Geraduss No. It is said ingame that darkspawn do have some rudimentary craftsmanship. Often they collect some old armor pieces and make armor from it. And if i remember corecrly they are able to reshape it in their own disgusting way by some rudimentary primitive reforging
Broodmother is my favorite boss from DAO. Everything surrounding that fights is top tier dark fantasy creepy stuff. Wish that Dragon Age took some of those elements back.
Agree, I loved the dark elements of Origins. Broodmother really creeped me out, Hespeth's poem then finally realizing what Branka had done to her own clan was horrific.
its crazy how mandatory and important it is to play the DLC, I played through all the games earlier this year, skipping the dlc thinking it wouldnt be an issue and I could no longer get it, all of a sudden this coryphyous guy is the big bad and everyone but me knows who he is and how he got there
you can ignore amgarack though, it's never mentioned in any capacity that your warden did anything at least that i could find. awakening and the DA2 legacy dlc are something you should do though.
Should also do Witch Hunt if you had a male character romance Morrigan. It ties up the story arc and pays off a bit in Inquisition. My recommended order: Leliana's Song* >>> DA:O >>> Return to Ostagar*# >>> Awakening >>> Golems of Amgarrak* >>> Witch Hunt >>> DA2 >>> Mark of the Assassin*# >>> Legacy# >>> DAI >>> Jaws of Hakkon*# >>> The Descent% >>> Trespasser * can be skipped # play during main game % I have a feeling that the revelations in the Descent will pay off heavily in the future. Plus, The Descent is a fun dungeon crawl.
@@alexandrasharp317 I'm not sure that I'll play through the games again honestly, super fun but not enough for me to feel like I didn't have enough of it
The very first time that I heard Hespeth's poem was perfectly recited from the time that I walked through the corridors of the those deep roads and by the time she had finally finished, I just so happened to hit the in game cinematic that introduced the Broodmother just as Hespeth had just said the closing line, "Broodmother" and it screams at me to kick off the fight. I had never been able to replicate that feeling again or since but that moment truly terrified me, and had I not defeated it, with my Grey Warden getting the final coup de grace stroke, I probably would have had nightmares. (My warden in that play through was a mage and before that battle had never gotten the final cinematic strike because all of the other members in my party such as Allister or Oghren always did)
The Broodmother section in DA:O literally give me chills from how horrific it was. Being dragged off by the Darkspawn into their tunnels alone must be terrifying, only for things to get even worse...
Some of the other creepy things to me in Dragon Age are...what happened to Hawk's mom. Major creepy. The Deep roads DLC in DAI. The deeper you go the darker it gets and you cannot adjust the settings to make it brighter so there is always this feeling you may fall off and accidentally kill yourself. Also don't you think the joining itself in DAO is a bit creepy? I know I did the first time I saw it.
Wow... Hespeth really did creep me out. I just met her for the first time a few days ago. That poem she recites is soo brutal. Can't wait to see what other haunting nightmares await me in the rest of the games!
Origins is by far the creepiest Dragon Age ever. I hope you continue your endeavors in that game, with some scaryness along the way, ty for watching! ❤️
Fun fact: If you talk to Kitty and then return to Amelia's father to inform him of the situation before solving the puzzle, he'll charge off and get possessed instead. You have the option to either kill him or let him go.
I loved Dragon Age 1 for that reason. You ask Morrigan what happened after that first battle, and she warns you it'll be graphic and you don't want to know but she'll tell you if you insist
To fight Solas and the other original Dark Spawn including the first brood mother could be awesome. I wanted to be the Inquisitor again with a prosthetic made by Dagna that did different things depending on what class you are and specialization you chose.
It is kinda implied the Inquisitor does get some kind of prosthetic if you join the Friends of Red Jenny in Trespasser, which you can do if you have high approval with Sera.
Any scary scenes involving child characters always made me squirm. The "Sir Willam" poem in the Alienage orphanage and the "Bonnie Lynne" poem in Haven are pretty creepy too. They are no match however to Hespeth's.
I've played the game at least 40 times by now since 2010. You'd like to think I've seen and heard it all, but Tamlen returning to my camp and scaring the living shit out of me was a first yesterday. Seriously, the scariest thing for me to date.
I replayed DAO a few months ago and that part really made me pause!! I’ve played many times and didn’t recall that happening (it has been a while though). It was very well done and subtle.
two creepy things from dragon age origins that have stuck with me over the years: finding the real weylon's body in genitivi's house in denerim, especially if you insist on going into the room when the fake weylon tries to stop you. the abandoned campsite in brecilian forest. when the magic lifts and all you see are skeletons... super creepy! plus the shade fight itself where all your party members are dead except for your mage. these things totally spooked me on my first playthrough.
The "broodmother poetry" gotta be the creepyest of all... tbh the whole search for Branka turns into dark horror story real quick as we find that she sacrificed all her people
Given a piece of concept art that was teased back when DA4 was still referred to as Dreadwolf, my theory is that the first broodmother was Ghilan’nain herself. Seems the perfect form for a self-proclaimed deity known as the ‘mother of monsters’.
I might be wrong but as I understand it when the old tevinter magisters entered the veil to find the golden city, the evanuras were already trapped there by the dreadwolf so the blight and the city are 100% elven made unless I'm missin something.
so far the golden city is assumed to be Arlathan, but nothing is confirmed as of yet- but yeah the DreadWolf is definitely doing something with the Blight. Ty for watching!
The Black City is indeed likely part of the prison of the Evanuris, the Veil being the other part. I don't think Fen'harel has anything to do with the blight as he was in hibernation at that time but i'm pretty sure the other Evanuris do.
In Elvehnan magickal and material world were inseparate. Creation of the Veil, like explosion in the Haven possibly demanded big magical discharge. In the intro quest in DAI, Solas states that the magic required to cause the breach might have corrupted the lyrium beneath, turning it red. My theory is that creation of the Veil did similar thing and blight spreaded across the Golden City, which is the only material object in the fade or so i believe. Funny thing is that if i follow this path of thinking, Chantry verson of the origins of the blight are correct but Tevinters one also holds the truth because Mythal killed a titan (most likely with magic) thus in doing so, she corrupted lyrium inside it. So blight also predates the Golden City breach but it was contained (seald by the ancient elves) thus not that big of a trouble. So yeah, it is elven made in my opinion.
The Broodmothers are no doubt the most creepy. The poem followed by the encounter (which is a really tough fight too the first time around) left me pretty disgusted at the time.
I was first introduced to dragon age quite young and I remember my sister (she introduced the game to me) didn't allow me to play the broodmother part since I was still young so she always used to play that part of the deeproads for me
i love your videos! ty for this one! another creepy thing in dragon age inquisition is chateau d'onterre, the torn diary found there and everything that's implied to have happened there is spooky!!
I've an extra theory on Mythal and the Calling. If she does in fact control it, and leads the darkspawn, and eventually Wardens, to travel to the Old God prisons, could it be she has done the ritual Morrigan does with the Wardens to save them in the past? Could Urthemiel not be the only old god whose soul was rescued and separated from the Blight by her? Its nice food for thought
The Broodmother is for me the most disturbing one. Just imagining that someone has to eat disgusting Darkspawn flesh, be rape constantly by Darkspawn, and then become so corrupted that the victim becomes a making factory of their own aggressors is the reason I go in a killing spree of every Darkspawn I encounter in the game. Then it is the cat-demon, and demons in general. The twist of an once innocent spirit to a demonic beast is one that had to happen since the first living sentient that came in contact with them.
I love the scene when Envy appears in the forms of Josephine, Leliana, Cullen and the Herald. It lives up to the standards of a good quality demonic possession themed horror movie
The worst part to me after the knowledge of what a Broodmother was and that they exist was seeing the poor woman who had been given her freedom from the collective mind back, so that she could remember what had been done to her and live without the music and connection as a Broodmother in "Awakening". I killed her out of sheer mercy. As horrific as that is, to still be trapped as a broodmother, but remember everything... that is far too much. Broodmothers were where The Architect's plan fell completely apart.
I hope dragon age goes back to its dark themed roots, it says a lot about how the series has changed when most of the "creepy" stories are all from DAO...
Assuming we hear the same Morrigan hears when she's the one who drinks from the Well, then "she" is 100% referring to Mythal since Flemeth asks Morrigan to listen to the voices and Morrigan mentions that the voices say she's been telling the truth.
Mythal could be the first broodmother. If the well is correct in her creating the calling. This could be why she was killed as well, and the magisters brought it out of the fade. Maybe when the one elf God went mad that's when Mythal started expiramenting??
About the Well of Sorrows “Mythal speaks the calling” that’s very telling…. We still don’t know who created red lyrium or this “dark spawn” corruption. Could it have been the Mythal or the forgotten ones? In DAO she’s able to avoid it and hide HOF & Alistair from being sensed by the dark spawn in the Korcari Wilds. How’s did she know how to do that?
I think the "Maker" is a form of brood mother. As crispy fish said the city was already black and the throne was empty. And we know the dread wolf spit the fade from the world. Maybe there is a conection or mabye i just like the idea of the chantry worshiping there greatest fear
More interestingly is where did the gray wardens learn the ritual for them to become gray wardens, maybe mythal had something to do with that as well since she Morgan and her both knew of the ritual to protect them. The broodmother thing is by far the most heartbreaking and I wonder where the first one is, are they still alive if they are a Magister it would be almost impossible to kill right.
lmao, the cat-demon creeped me out hard core when i played this back in the day. My cat(her name was Luna, i called her luna tuna.) would stare at me and i wondered if she was trying to do deceitful things. Shes gone now, I miss her. She lived a full life though, so no worries. She was a good cat i promise... on another note.. cool video. Subbed.
honestly, I'd love to wear the flesh armor! too bad you can't change your winter palace attire, because if the armor showed up in the golden nug, you could show up in flesh armor. pretty cool if you ask me
The broodmother and the poem is always creepy AF. one thing that is creepy as well that wasn’t on the list is Sandal in DA2 when he says an old woman stands by his bed and watches him (paraphrasing i forget it word for word) it’s believed to maybe be Flemeth/Mythal but it’s never confirmed. What the fuck lol what does it mean!!
The first brood mother is disturbing, though perhaps they could have just caught a woman. Where would they have gotten the darkspawn flesh to spew into her initially? Perhaps one of the first darkspawn was sacrificed.
the calling is probably the dreams that bring the elves to help out Solas. Guessing the archdemons have similar powers (the grey wardens hear the archdemon in their sleep) cause they're the same as Mythal. Sorry Solas, gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet.
Okay, let's analyze it. 1. The Calling in this case may refer to Mythal calling to those, who drank from the well. I sincerely doubt that Mythal has anything to do with Blights. At least directly. I have a theory about it, it would be a long time to write it whole, but basics are that after her "fellow gods" attempted to kill her and Fen'Harrel banished them beyond the Veil into the Fade, they managed to get to the Golden City(maybe even created it, since we do not know whether Golden City was there before Dread Wolf created Veil. Or at least i do not remember that being mentioned) and they left a "gift there". The magical disease, which would later be known as THE BLIGHT. My guess is, that these banished elven "gods" tried to force elves to bring them back, by sending Blight. When people would be most desperate, they would welcome their gods back in their realm and after they come back, they would just "cure" disease they themselves created. This plan could work for exactly 2 reasons., First being that Elves lost their magic abilities and later nearly all of their knowledge. Second being that Fen'Harrel was asleep, so even if he wanted to help those SOBs get back, he could not cause he was not able to even keep himself conscious. This was something even Elven "gods" could not predict, that their civilization literally crumbles to dust and what remains is going to be taken away by humans. But there may be a grain of "truth" after all... Grey Wardens had to come from somewhere. I know that first blight lasted centuries before Dumat was slain, or rather he was slain multiple times but he always come back. What if it was Mythal/Flemeth who originally created the first Grey Warden ritual? What if it was she, who could not watch how the world is, literally, being poisoned and killed. And the reason why something like that was even possible was, that Mythal was one of those "gods", so she was familiar with their magical research and she could easily recognized Blight as handiwork 2. Uff, hate that cat. 3. I don't think that Caridin's work is that bad. Yes, yes, he took people and recreated them into stone soldiers. But when it comes to creepines, i think that there are faaaar worse parts then this. Like selling child's soul to demon for sex. OR pretty much everything that happened in the Mage Tower in DA:O. From Desire demon tricking templar, through seeing Cullen locked in that cage and heavily tortured, to seeing how Uldred was turning other mages into abominations. 4. With this one i agree, 5. This one gave me a lot of sleepless nights when i played DA:O for the first time... And that poem? God damn it, i am hearing it in my head even now...
The darkest experience ive had is my evil play in dragon age origin, you literally have the choice to commit genocide, convinced a mother to "knife" her child or do it yourself and even wiping a clan of elves with cursed beings. That game is dark, fun but dark asf
Honestly, coercion is the most essential skill throughout Origins. It makes the game SO much nicer in regards to logical choice and manipulating demons.
Hespith was right about Branka's sins; it was terrible not because it happened, but because it was allowed. Branka is up there in the top tier list of detestable characters. Only ones worse imo are Vaughn*spits* and Howe. Edit: Video idea; top 5 most detestable DA characters? My picks would be: 1. Vaughn 2. Howe 3. Branka 4. Quentin 5. Meredith
Even though I've played Dragon age since I was in 4th grade I never really thought about a 1st ever broodmother.. I guess I kinda assumed it was the mother from Awakening because she's the only human broodmother we've ever seen
I think I may have been the first to really put that theory out there that one of the Magisters Sidereal was female, and I surmised it was Razikale's priestess due to a carving of a female being linked to Razikale in the Western Approach, as well as numerous references to Razikale possibly being female, which might actually be due to Razikale's Magister being female and speaking on Razikale's behalf. Unfortunately, Mark Darrah has said a few times during his Origins streams that BioWare is likely to never revisit the broodmother concept ever again due to how traumatic their process of creation is to some fans. Even the appearance of the broodmother is not something current year BioWare wants to show anymore.
@@darthportus Welcome to wokism, where pandering to tiny fractions of the "fan"base is the new normal. Same reason they'll likely never have feminine desire demons either.
Creepiest by far (for me) was the orphanage in the alienage in DA:O. Left me with nightmares for months. Like children do not have a good time on Dragon Age Origins. Or Dragon Age II. Also wasn’t the Process used in the Golems of Amgarrek, (The Harvester) used by Orsino as well? I mean maybe different processes but the same end result
Omg, what a twist it would be if the Grey Wardens started the Blights by accident and have been trying to fix it ever since. What if the Wardens have always twisted the truth 😵
The most disturbing part is that someone created all this, like from their brain and stuff, somebody’s brain conjured up that broodmother sh¡t out of thin air. You may have sat next to this person in a dark movie theater at some point and not even known it.
Yeah, the broodmother and the creepy poem were probably the most terrifying thing in a game. I was just trying to be a cool arcane warrior fuckboy and then there's the Deep Roads which was a nightmare and then this? Uncalled for, absolutely uncalled for.
I keep wondering Is Sandal a developers" joke" like m-aiq the liar in elder scrolls games (where it's sort of implied that m aiq is immortal and powerful) or is there more behind Sandal story to be told in future games
There is more to Sandal than meets the eye. I really like him because I think ...in my opinion that maybe his character was made to bring awareness to those who are on the autism spectrum. In the game they did mention he was a Savant though I just wonder if that is just a cover for some reason. In some ways he puts me in mind of Tom in The Stand who always spells out moon for everything.
Keep it up, Saria. You're almost at 1k and monetization achievement unlocked. I wish bioware gave us more to go on. 400 years working on this game and we have so little. There's other bioware titles. I play SWTOR which is an MMORPG set in the Star Wars universe. It costs me 15 dollars a month. But I could play for free with just less perks. They have lots of ways to suck you in and make you spend money on cosmetics like armor and weapons. But I don't buy any of that stuff and I'm just paying the monthly membership. IDK how popular it is compared to other mmorpgs. But it's not bad. I'm on Satele Shan if you get on there.

And you'd get exposed to new fandoms which would probably bring new subs and maybe even introduce new people to our lord and savior, Solas.
The brood mother one is probably one of the most horrifying things I've seen in a game, it's right up there with the green ending for ME3. Just a quick explanation on the green ending (that somehow the devs thing is the best/good ending) so all the things that were turned into reapers get their minds back yay that's good right..... think about what's happened to then to make then a reaper soldier, best case you have husks, banshees and I forget what the Turians name was they are just horrible mutilated (and may also remember all the horrible things they did under reaper control), worst case you are a cannibal which is a baterian (sorry if I'm misspelling the names I'm on my phone) with a human grafted onto then as there left arm/gun that's the human as a living gun that's now got its mind back (probably for about 3 seconds before you are driven insane by your new life) we also have the Brutes that is a krogan and turian merged together (badly) I believe it says in the codex that if not for the reaper tech and will holding them together they would die, we also have the predatorian which is a few dozen human husks mushed together to make this boss monster that now all have there minds back and share 1 messed up body, lastly we have the reapers themselves this is a tricky one as no one mind is used to make a reaper it's more a case of they melt down the whole race to build a new reaper then probably use a scan of one person from that race (for humans it would probably have been shepherd's mind used as a template) to make the new reaper mind so the new being is only one mind despite been millions of people in the same body, this was what the ME devs thought was the good ending ..... and we thing EA are evil.
I never had a problem with the kitty (since I was a newbie, I valued coercion skills), also I always felt the kid was a bit of moron :) sorry if that is too harsh, I mean the kitty's voice shouldnt be attractive to children, it is a bit too creepy. But the warden is not gonna look very trustworthy either. If I were her, I would probably leave the chamber screaming after seeing all this weird sh*t. I wonder what varric would say. He would probably sympathize with her, which I try to do by saving her usually ( I am one of those people who asks themselves WWVD what would Varric do, before making choices in DA games)
I always wondered. If the elven gods are still alive and trapped in the fade. Are they the ones that created the blight and cursed the tevinters like architect and corypheus into becoming darkapawn
not scary but heartwrenching moments: seeing a Tranquil mage as an assistant of Templar knight in DA: origins...! also hearing the poet about broodmothers and how dwarf female (was it brena?) intentionally let dwarwen females to be abused...these are few of saddest moments...video ideas maybe?
Broodmothers were the one thing to truly horrify me in the Dragon Age series, and ever since then, I would do whatever I could not to take women with me fighting in the Deep Roads. Had I the option, I'd be rounding up every female in Thedas and locking them in the most secure fortresses that could be devised. It really bothers me that the dwarves Legion of the Dead, who will take anyone, regardless of gender, has probably inadvertently contributed more broodmothers than any other organization. Might go to explain why genlocks are the most common of darkspawn. *shudder*
I'am almost 100% positive that Evanuris and the Old Gods are the same people. Solas imprisoned their minds in the fade, while locking the bodies underground. Then, if Evanuris created the blight as some sort of biological weapon before their imprisonment, it would explain the calling. We already know that at least Mythal can turn into a dragon, no reason to say that others can't. Number of the old gods and the imprisoned Evanruis also checks out.
Things that scarred me in DAO *Spolier Warning* 1: Seeing the slaughter of in the human origin 2: Connor's worst path, the moment his mother ending his... 3: BroodMother, uh, uh i hate that thing and the info on how they were created is fckin terrifying
It's taken me forever to get to this because I moved and was without internet for a time BUT I finally did! Great video, not enough people talk about about just how much creepiness there is in these games!
The Creepiest thing I found in DA games? Was in Inquisition, the words of Coryphius. "I have seen the throne of the gods and it was empty." Dragon Age definitely needs to up the horror atmosphere again. The first dragon age gave me that constant feeling of dread throughout the whole game. I like that kinda stuff.

Honestly I didn't realize I was actually fighting Darkspawn when I encountered the redesigned ones.
Like most, I hate the darkspawn redesign. Totally ruins the games for me when you see them. They are laughably bad. The originals are great and truly build on the terror aspect of the game.
@@williambeck8966 agreed! They look silly in 2. The darkspawn were far scarier than orcs or “similar” fantasy mooks are.
Wish that Dragon Age took some of those elements back.
no thank you. I have enough nightmares. maybe separate DLC or something
Agree, I loved the dark elements of Origins. Broodmother really creeped me out, Hespeth's poem then finally realizing what Branka had done to her own clan was horrific.
Agreed. DAO is absurdly good
its crazy how mandatory and important it is to play the DLC, I played through all the games earlier this year, skipping the dlc thinking it wouldnt be an issue and I could no longer get it, all of a sudden this coryphyous guy is the big bad and everyone but me knows who he is and how he got there
yep- the DLC’s are super important, and some believe it really redeemed the games (like Trespasser)
you can ignore amgarack though, it's never mentioned in any capacity that your warden did anything at least that i could find. awakening and the DA2 legacy dlc are something you should do though.
Should also do Witch Hunt if you had a male character romance Morrigan. It ties up the story arc and pays off a bit in Inquisition.
My recommended order: Leliana's Song* >>> DA:O >>> Return to Ostagar*# >>> Awakening >>> Golems of Amgarrak* >>> Witch Hunt >>> DA2 >>> Mark of the Assassin*# >>> Legacy# >>> DAI >>> Jaws of Hakkon*# >>> The Descent% >>> Trespasser
* can be skipped
# play during main game
% I have a feeling that the revelations in the Descent will pay off heavily in the future.
(My warden in that play through was a mage and before that battle had never gotten the final cinematic strike because all of the other members in my party such as Allister or Oghren always did)
ahhh that’s so creepy!
Same except my character was a rogue* and I still had dreams about it for a couple days, and to this day I put it off for as long as possible
@@VolfKami rogue*
@@enjoythestruggle thank you
It's designed that way. The poem's lines are said based on your progression to the broodmother.
Hawke’s mom creeped me out too!
Trust me... there are some more dark secrets. However most of them are hidden in codexes and side quests so not many people pay attention
@@Vesp3r1987 lol.. check out my channel. I am doing a first time playthrough of the game reading every codex entry along the way.
'First day they come and catch everyone'
Second to broodmothers, Haven freaked me right out. Using creepy kids always does that, tho.
It was very well done and subtle.
two creepy things from dragon age origins that have stuck with me over the years:
finding the real weylon's body in genitivi's house in denerim, especially if you insist on going into the room when the fake weylon tries to stop you.
the abandoned campsite in brecilian forest. when the magic lifts and all you see are skeletons... super creepy! plus the shade fight itself where all your party members are dead except for your mage.
these things totally spooked me on my first playthrough.
The "broodmother poetry" gotta be the creepyest of all... tbh the whole search for Branka turns into dark horror story real quick as we find that she sacrificed all her people
I had NO idea about the backwards voices and I don’t know why that scares me more than the broodmothers. Eep.
Fr!! Listening to that like deadass made me feel nauseous
Sandal is the scariest thing in the entire series.
Given a piece of concept art that was teased back when DA4 was still referred to as Dreadwolf, my theory is that the first broodmother was Ghilan’nain herself. Seems the perfect form for a self-proclaimed deity known as the ‘mother of monsters’.
I still don't get how people find the Kitty nearly impossible. In every playthrough I always managed to save her
I might be wrong but as I understand it when the old tevinter magisters entered the veil to find the golden city, the evanuras were already trapped there by the dreadwolf so the blight and the city are 100% elven made unless I'm missin something.
so far the golden city is assumed to be Arlathan, but nothing is confirmed as of yet- but yeah the DreadWolf is definitely doing something with the Blight.
Ty for watching!
The Black City is indeed likely part of the prison of the Evanuris, the Veil being the other part. I don't think Fen'harel has anything to do with the blight as he was in hibernation at that time but i'm pretty sure the other Evanuris do.
I really hope not
It would be so boring if every big mystery came back to "the elves did it"
In Elvehnan magickal and material world were inseparate.
I was first introduced to dragon age quite young and I remember my sister (she introduced the game to me) didn't allow me to play the broodmother part since I was still young so she always used to play that part of the deeproads for me
The thumbnail implied a Sandal fact, but we only received a cameo at the very start .
"The calling" concerning Mythal could also just mean that shes calling to you because you are now bound to her by the well
holy crap I just realized Orsino's monstrous form looked almost exactly like the one from 3:43
yep!! good catch!
I managed to free both the little girl and her father from the demon kitty but my goodness, that puzzle was a pain in the butt lol.
i love your videos! ty for this one! another creepy thing in dragon age inquisition is chateau d'onterre, the torn diary found there and everything that's implied to have happened there is spooky!!
Oh I remember that!! That was pretty creepy too
Ty for enjoying my content 😭❤️
Broodmother one is for sure, the most gruesome.
Great thought! I personally believe she’s recovered most of them
The Broodmother is for me the most disturbing one.
Mine would be when you find that cabin in Inquisition with all those skulls that are used to find those shards are made from tranquil mages..
I hope dragon age goes back to its dark themed roots, it says a lot about how the series has changed when most of the "creepy" stories are all from DAO...
well, catering to casual gamers are way more profitable so, that's not likely to happen.
Creepy "secrets" you may have "missed", like events from the main questline that are impossible to miss
I remember the first time hearing the Broodmother poem, it was one of the creepiest things I'd ever heard in a game. It still is to be honest.
I muted it.
Ander's would have fallen years earlier if he had met Kitty. 😂
I'm torn, "Kitty" was a fantastic quest/moment, one of my all-time favorites ... but Hespeth's poem was creepy as hell.
The short Story of Horrors of Hormak from Tevinter Nights...makes me hope that we never have to see in game...
I just started on the Dragon Age series !! Wow !! Creepy stuff !😮
welcome! yeah, Dragon Age gets pretty creepy!
lmao, the cat-demon creeped me out hard core when i played this back in the day. My cat(her name was Luna, i called her luna tuna.) would stare at me and i wondered if she was trying to do deceitful things. Shes gone now, I miss her. She lived a full life though, so no worries. She was a good cat i promise...
on another note.. cool video. Subbed.
honestly, I'd love to wear the flesh armor! too bad you can't change your winter palace attire, because if the armor showed up in the golden nug, you could show up in flesh armor. pretty cool if you ask me
Amazing job on this channel and I have been binging it! Thanks so much for posting DA content please keep it coming!⚔️⚔️
Ahhh tysm , more coming soon on Thursday
The broodmother and the poem is always creepy AF. one thing that is creepy as well that wasn’t on the list is Sandal in DA2 when he says an old woman stands by his bed and watches him (paraphrasing i forget it word for word) it’s believed to maybe be Flemeth/Mythal but it’s never confirmed. What the fuck lol what does it mean!!
I heard him tell this after hawke's mother death, could be her the ghost
@@dg2401-x8b ooh good shout! that’s so freaky to me though lol
The first brood mother is disturbing, though perhaps they could have just caught a woman. Where would they have gotten the darkspawn flesh to spew into her initially? Perhaps one of the first darkspawn was sacrificed.
The brood mother was the creepiest to me. The Deep Roads in DA:Origins is the height of fear till this day. Such great storytelling.
I always free kitty because I refuse to kill her in cat form. >n> I will never.
the calling is probably the dreams that bring the elves to help out Solas. Guessing the archdemons have similar powers (the grey wardens hear the archdemon in their sleep) cause they're the same as Mythal. Sorry Solas, gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet.
The well of sorrows is my fav. That shit was creepy as hell
This plan could work for exactly 2 reasons.,
First being that Elves lost their magic abilities and later nearly all of their knowledge.
And the reason why something like that was even possible was, that Mythal was one of those "gods", so she was familiar with their magical research and she could easily recognized Blight as handiwork
4. With this one i agree,
5. This one gave me a lot of sleepless nights when i played DA:O for the first time... And that poem? God damn it, i am hearing it in my head even now...
you forget that in inquisition you can find the kitty's necklace and its description is creepier then anything on your list
Every time I hear Sandel talk about his prophecy for inquisition....gives me the creeps
My picks would be:
1. Vaughn
2. Howe
3. Branka
4. Quentin
Because the desgin was traumatic for few idividuals they will never revisit ? What kind of stupid reason is this ?
@@darthportus Welcome to wokism, where pandering to tiny fractions of the "fan"base is the new normal. Same reason they'll likely never have feminine desire demons either.
Creepiest by far (for me) was the orphanage in the alienage in DA:O. Left me with nightmares for months. Like children do not have a good time on Dragon Age Origins. Or Dragon Age II.
Also wasn’t the Process used in the Golems of Amgarrek, (The Harvester) used by Orsino as well? I mean maybe different processes but the same end result
Yep, that same process was used by Orsino, i cannot forget those... "chunks" of monstrous fles.
I’m very curious of sandal like how did he become the way he is now!?
I keep wondering Is Sandal a developers" joke" like m-aiq the liar in elder scrolls games (where it's sort of implied that m aiq is immortal and powerful) or is there more behind Sandal story to be told in future games
There is more to Sandal than meets the eye. I really like him because I think ...in my opinion that maybe his character was made to bring awareness to those who are on the autism spectrum. In the game they did mention he was a Savant though I just wonder if that is just a cover for some reason. In some ways he puts me in mind of Tom in The Stand who always spells out moon for everything.
Yes! All the same stuff I think is disgusting is on your list.
it's sooo creepy!
ty for watching!
I wish you'd make longer videos, going a little deeper, BUT I love these videos.
I'm going to try and play SWTOR while streaming so I will definitely be on the look out!
and ty for ur encouragement, baby steps lol
@@sarialue. Awesome!
I'd try the imperial stories, first. Most people tend to agree they're the best stories. Imperial Agent is the one I hear the most people like. If you want to be like a sith character, I'd go for the Sith Warrior since the story is much more interesting than Sith Inquisitor.Bounty Hunter is also good. lol Also, you can try the game for free.
I am on both Imperial and Republic sides. Whichever you choose
It's a lot of work. Only pursue this if you love it. But you have a good voice. You're own style and plenty of talent. You can be successful, here or wherever else you want. it's harder than it used to be to start from the bottom. But its far from impossible for you.
I LOVE your dragon age videos. And I'd never ever say you shouldn't do those. But I wouldn't mind if you branched out. And you'd get exposed to new fandoms which would probably bring new subs and maybe even introduce new people to our lord and savior, Solas.
does mythal speak the calling? maybe cuz she neds an old god soul
also, broodmothers really creeped me out - just eww
there are some theories that lean on the Blight being her Horcrux to regain her magical power, so it could be possible!
If mythal is behind the calling if we get a chance she is dead dead
They really ought to make a remake of DA:O for the new generation of consoles and PC:s. BioWare outdid themselves with that one.
from the way solas says the blight cant be cleverly out smarted the blight might be a ancient elven curse for there enemy's
"According to Hatspit's poem..." 😅
Enchantments? *with bloody face*
Broodmother scarred me for life.
After I finish Inquisition for the second time. IMMA RESTART AGAIN
good choice! 😏
They need to put all dragon age games on ps5. I would be playing it now. I would pay a lot for a bundle of all of them
I always wondered. If the elven gods are still alive and trapped in the fade. Are they the ones that created the blight and cursed the tevinters like architect and corypheus into becoming darkapawn
the kitty is easy if u have high persuasion at the start u just lie u will relace her finish the pazzle the girl run u fight the demon happy ending
not scary but heartwrenching moments: seeing a Tranquil mage as an assistant of Templar knight in DA: origins...! also hearing the poet about broodmothers and how dwarf female (was it brena?) intentionally let dwarwen females to be abused...these are few of saddest moments...video ideas maybe?
oh you included the second one..so sad...
*shudder*
Everyone mentions the skin armor, but no one ever mentions the clasping maw
I'am almost 100% positive that Evanuris and the Old Gods are the same people. Solas imprisoned their minds in the fade, while locking the bodies underground. Then, if Evanuris created the blight as some sort of biological weapon before their imprisonment, it would explain the calling. We already know that at least Mythal can turn into a dragon, no reason to say that others can't. Number of the old gods and the imprisoned Evanruis also checks out.
I was expecting something about Sandal.
Things that scarred me in DAO
*Spolier Warning*

3: BroodMother, uh, uh i hate that thing and the info on how they were created is fckin terrifying
It's taken me forever to get to this because I moved and was without internet for a time BUT I finally did! Great video, not enough people talk about about just how much creepiness there is in these games!
Correction; As far as we know, cats don't talk.
They could be playing the long game.
Actually, if yoh tell Mathias about the denon, Kitty will posess HIM, instead of Amalia
You forgot about the orphanage in Derenim
Well now Veilguard is out and some things are clearer
Flesh armor? Oh please. Go make the Human Flesh in BG2. It’s an abomination to make.
When the well says "She speaks the truth and to follow the calling " it's referring to the Archdemon. The Archdemon used to be the goddess of love.
Want to imagine something really scary?
