I find myself remembering Mass Effect Andromeda, and how much I hated Cora for constantly telling me about how she used to be an Asari Commando. I dislike Taash for the same reason. It isn't what they are, it's the fact that they go out of their way at every possible turn to make sure you don't forget. We had maybe a total of 1 in depth convo with Cremisius in DA Inquisition about them being trans, and they were literally my favorite of Bull's Chargers because they had an actual personality. It's best summed up from a conversation between Carver and Anders in DA2: Anders: You don't like me, Carver? Carver: I don't like you. Anders: That's unfortunate, hating someone just because they're a mage is a shameful thing. Carver: I don't hate you because you're a mage, I hate you because you won't shut up about it.
"Guys, have you heard? Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain have escaped Fen'Harel's Prison, they must be stopped." You'll hear a variation of this line so many damn times.
Dragon Age Veilguard is a Dragon Age game in name only. Do you remember that part in the beginning of the game where you unpack your bag, and Rook literally stands there spouting exposition to himself? The story telling in this game is so bad. They broke the first rule of storytelling, show don't tell. Instead of showing us ANYTHING interesting about Rook, everything is dumped through exposition. The way everyone talks to each other is like they are all walking on egg shells to not offend each other. Everyone is so nice, everything is sanitized. I do recommend beating the game though, and I recommend you get the bad ending because it's literally the best one.
I played it...they screwed the lore. My fave characters were neve and lucanis but they really screwed their character stories. Pathetic writing. Party banter was all "gey" or non existent.
I started dreading (like actually dreading) convos in DAV. When I realized I was just getting frustrated and somewhat offended while playing a game (!), I went back to playing DAO w a curated modlist - and DAV truly got me excited to do it lol
This game only makes me angry. Origins represents some of my core youth memories and is what got me into RPGs. This shite? It is just insulting how it USURPS the name of Dragon Age. The gameplay is mid at best, tedious at worst if you've been through the FromSoftware bootcamp.
Convinced myself to go Jack Sparrow on it, downloaded it, and when I went to double click the setup.exe I paused... then deleted the entire thing. :)))

Quit at the tutorial because I didn't like the combat. You can't adopt a passive snipe enemies from afar style. They won't take any damage till you get up close and your companions won't aggro either
I also played all the dragon age games, although many had issues with DA 2 ( its true it was a different style game) theres one key difference between that and Veilguard...the writing in DA 2 was still Superb. Its really a shame to see Neware butcher this series like that. Also, im non buyanary.
Next dragon age... no more party members and you have 9 skills in your action bar. for me the combat system is made for smartphone. Oh you need search on youtube Dragon Age :Failguard (oops i mean Veilguard) secret ending...
The dialogues in this game were created for a 5 year old child. This game is an insult to Dragon Age, the characters' conversations make you sleepy, it looks like a Discovery Kids cartoon, regardless of your choice there are no serious consequences in the conversations, the graphics are from cell phones, the combat is boring and scripted, number of skills are reduced and you cannot control your companions during combat. Now there's an icon that shows where you should go because they made this game for 5 year olds, not to mention the puzzles in this game which involve putting relics in place of another relic. The map designs are horrible, because everything is in the sky??? and the damn colors of this game, the menus in various places are all purple and brilliant, this is not dark fantasy neither here nor in the Andromeda Galaxy!!!!

I've only got a short way into the game but I've found that it's actually the exploring the ruins and looting that feels unsatisfying. I guess I miss the open world more than I thought. This is very simplified. The thing is I'm a big lover of the Inquisition Trespasser and Solas storyline and I just need to get to the end of this to feel I concluded that. Truthfully I think I've played Elden Ring quite a lot the last couple of years and it's hard to switch into a more shallow pop style of fantasy play. This is much less dark feeling. I think it's OK but there isn't the humour of Hawke's sarcastic comments or Fenris v Anders arguing. There's no dying mothers or choosing whether to kill a child because of demons. No killing your friend that planted a bomb in a church. It's more Saturday family movie vibes. Not even blood on your clothes. I think I will just keep slowly going through to the end. Enjoy your playing
Saying the combat is close to perfect is one of the more insane things I've ever heard. Movement and attacking, with a mage at least, feels lethargic, hand held in terms of detonation and attack indicators, zero depth with damage sponges for enemies, low enemy variation and useless npc party members that exist solely to make big explosions on combo
When you realize that a 3 hit combo with NPCS is your strongest detonator the other 18 skills are useless. Not to mention bosses have the same boring HP wall to get through. It'd have been better if some enemies had weaknesses to specific damage types so you'd have reason to bring a specific companion.

At least Inquisition the party members are string in their own right and you can set their AI to do exactly what you want for the party to preform cohesively, and the have their own cooldowns so you can prime and detonate triggers constantly with multiple members of the party if you want to. Sigh im just so sad and disappointed. Waited 10 years
Yeah man, I played also all of them. My main dislike is that you dont have a full group, that you only can use one Ability and the biggest up setter is that there is no Tactical Camera...
I finished Veilguard for the first time today and from my perspective the story of Dragon Age ended with the main story of Inquisiton. I'm ignoring the existence of the Trespasser DLC because it's the only reason for Veilguard to exist. It's not even about they/them and Taash and stuff like that. There just wasn't nearly enough Dragon Age in Veilguard. That's just my impression. Maybe you'll play the game one day and like it, but i'm glad you're not forcing yourself. btw i also wanted to play Origins the whole time i was playing Veilguard.
i reinstalled BG 3 after pirating DA:V(deleted it after 3 hours because holy shit its so boring) and was instantly hooked even though i played it once already, its actually so well written and gives you the DA:O feeling like nothing else. I replayed Origins already 3 times so if you feel the same get BG3. This game made absolutley no money, has 0 replay reason, probably killed off the studio for good(lets hope) demonized an entire demographic while failing to cater to the rest in a meaningful way. WTF was this game even trying to do. No wonder they hated all BG 3 release. Its side quests have more engagement and rp fantasy feeling than this whole game.
One of the best things, that I found in BG3 (I know, not everybody likes turn based, I do), was how the companions are created. They are interesting and have character. Exactly what you describe. I also played DA:O for a while and there it was similar. I just did not like the combat there. And as I read the reviews of the other parts, I completely lost interest in this series. Though, I even planned to buy Veilguard just to try it .... but after the reviews I read and the stuff they did with the review codes, I decided not to do that.

I’ve played DA, like many, since origin dropped. And I love the Dragon Age series. I mean I enjoy DA2 😅. This game doesn’t feel like any of the previous games. Even Inquisition, with its endless side missions, still felt like Dragon Age. This…. I’m having a hard time even turning it back on and I only made it to the light house
I’ve played through it one time now and I will say after seeing how all the systems work and itemization is I truly feel like it would have been better served as an in between spin off that was just mass effect3 multiplayer. So many of their loot choices are clearly left over from when it was a live service game. Maybe then they could have made a Dragon Age from the ground up rather then trying to revert the live service that this was for many years of it’s development.
I don't even agree with the sentiment that, "The rest of the game is good, it's just the writing." The writing is by far the worst part of the game, this is true. But there's no roleplay in the game at all. You can never disagree with your companions, never have arguments, never solve companion disagreements beyond treating them all like four year olds, you can never push back on anything they say. And even when it comes to the MSQ, you're just playing through the exact curated steps that the devs want you to take, no variance allowed. You have to choose between the home cities of two of your companions, but it's 100% black and white, you save one and doom the other. Railroad, no nuance. You pick a companion to go with you, but there are THREE OTHER UNUSED COMPANIONS who don't go to the other location??? Including the self-described monster hunter I JUST recruited????????? And then there's the combat. Insanely limited upgrade options, the tree is full of filler buffs that don't feel like they do anything, and the enemy variety is just so poor. The third time I saw some big monster with an axe, and it did the two side slams followed by a sweep, despite being totally different monster models, I gave up. It feels like a mobile game. Which would go a long way to explaining the Fortnite art style, extremely dumb faction upgrade economy, and so much more. I'm glad you found things to enjoy, but in my opinion, even the "good" stuff never gets above a 5/10. There are dozens of games that do it better, including games like God of War 2018, which Veilguard is clearly desperate to copy. This game is such a tragic letdown on every level.
I can't believe I can't be evil,. Wtf where they thinking? And companions not being active characters in battle is also baffling. To me the issue isn't even whatever message they wanna put, games are art and DA was always "woke" but dumbing down everything is an alarming trend in every OG franchise from the Elderscrolls to this then Mass effect next.
I'm only playing it to get the lore and get the spoilers out of the way. I didn't buy it tho, not directly. I was simply already subbed to EA Play because I was craving a replay of the Crisys trilogy and figured a month of EA Play was cheaper than buying all 3 games even if they are bundled at 50$ for all 3 remastered(minus Warhead for some reason, why didn't they remaster that?)
The combat is only good for the first few hours. There's little variety in gameplay in between the mage/rogue/warrior aside from their weapon of choice. It gets old when you're over the flashy effects because there's no tactics involved in the fights. Use all your skills/combos > basic attack and parry/dodge until cooldowns > repeat ad infinitium. As a mage, you still have learn to engage in melee range, dodge and parry to be able to get a hit in because the companions are worthless, Davrin's taunt hardly works(I can see the taunt icon on the enemy and it still targets the player), so all aggro is on the player. The combo effect is all the same, extra AOE damage, whoop dee doo. Skill selection is extremely limited for how many potential skills you can get, not to mention the insanely long cooldowns, and the shared cooldown on companion powers is just plain stupid.
Worst, the best builds are not using much of the skills but regular attacks. So you regular attack to death. Damn fun. Let's not mention that you fight over, and over, for 50-70hours, the same 10 enemies spread with differents skins over all factions.
In the first min. I had to wonder if you and me played the same dragon age veilguard. I thought that was one of the worse combat systems I have ever played. If you want a satasifing action hack and slash combat. You got to play Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. That has like the best combat for the action hack and slash style. We also have the Middle-Earth shadow series, the Jedi Knight, Jedi Acadamey. There are way better combats out there. Hell Hogwarts Legacy Combat is better. The exact combat they rip off but failed to properly ripping off the Hogwarts Legacy. If this is a positive in your video. I cannot watch the rest. The game is a 2/10 with the combat at best a 4/10.
This isn't a Dragon Age game. A completely different team made it. It's not a terrible game, and you'll probably have a better time if you don't consider it a dragon age game.
Meyby is a DA Veilguard so bad, bad if you a play a another for. See, play with a 4 player, is a symply not a creazy skill or damage reakcion. If you a play a DA Veilguard, if a play a dual rogun or mage, it is a insane. Absolutly chaos and you see nothing. I can you are a fan for a years for, is to problematic accept is a realy different. Combat almost flawless? Well if you like things that are deep as a puddle maybe¿?.... animations are good though, but gore is lacking and that is another failed Dragon Age vibe check. I liked the combat in DA 2 and story. I didn't like the game setting and the reused locations.
The combat is amazing until you've played for a hour.

The graphics is good, as long you do not watch the facial expressions of the people in the game. Those do not exist (the expressions, not the people).

DAO was Game of Thrones Season 1-4, DATV is Agatha All Along, writing tone and atmosphere wise.

As a mage, you still have learn to engage in melee range, dodge and parry to be able to get a hit in because the companions are worthless, Davrin's taunt hardly works(I can see the taunt icon on the enemy and it still targets the player), so all aggro is on the player. The combo effect is all the same, extra AOE damage, whoop dee doo. Skill selection is extremely limited for how many potential skills you can get, not to mention the insanely long cooldowns, and the shared cooldown on companion powers is just plain stupid.
Worst, the best builds are not using much of the skills but regular attacks. So you regular attack to death. Damn fun. Let's not mention that you fight over, and over, for 50-70hours, the same 10 enemies spread with differents skins over all factions.

In the first min. I had to wonder if you and me played the same dragon age veilguard. I thought that was one of the worse combat systems I have ever played. If you want a satasifing action hack and slash combat. You got to play Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. That has like the best combat for the action hack and slash style. We also have the Middle-Earth shadow series, the Jedi Knight, Jedi Acadamey. There are way better combats out there. Hell Hogwarts Legacy Combat is better. The exact combat they rip off but failed to properly ripping off the Hogwarts Legacy.
If this is a positive in your video. I cannot watch the rest. The game is a 2/10 with the combat at best a 4/10.

This isn't a Dragon Age game. A completely different team made it. It's not a terrible game, and you'll probably have a better time if you don't consider it a dragon age game.
Meyby is a DA Veilguard so bad, bad if you a play a another for. See, play with a 4 player, is a symply not a creazy skill or damage reakcion. If you a play a DA Veilguard, if a play a dual rogun or mage, it is a insane. Absolutly chaos and you see nothing. I can you are a fan for a years for, is to problematic accept is a realy different. Combat almost flawless? Well if you like things that are deep as a puddle maybe¿?.... animations are good though, but gore is lacking and that is another failed Dragon Age vibe check.
Graphics are pretty good and nice, but the aesthetics and designs ruined it, it isn't Dragon Age at all.
The writing? Well, we all already know how horrible is the writing...
