That's what I was thinking, it looks more like Bruce's/Batman's Shadow that you encounter and fight halfway through the game, just more from a distance. Why the Shadow shows up here when Malone doesn't have the early version of Fear Toxin in his system is beyond me, but it's a great hint and detail nonetheless. We'll find out when someone looks at the files/does a boundary break video!
@@trevorclaus726the reason I think it shows up is cause earlier in the game you go down an alley and your fighting thugs and while fighting the thugs you hear them terrified cause batman is not holding back as much and you even hear Alfred in the cowl yelling at batman telling him to calm down. I may be wrong but I believed batman had murderous intent thus projecting his shadow self into the gargoyle showing he’s fighting with more force.
Agreed, if you look closely at the shadow, it looks like batman is looking down, just showing that even in his disguise, batman is always watching from above
My theory is that Crane has spread the Shadow Toxin using the vents in Black Gate. This is why clouds of steam are found everywhere. It would explain why Irving Malone sees his ‘shadow’ upon entering the prison and why everyone in Blackgate is wrestling with the same issue.
As far as Dick Grayson, the fact they used the same Nightwing voice actor is confirmation imo. He also is clearly supposed to be a memorable encounter - one of the few enemies that actually dodges your attacks. Also grabs 2 sticks and does the exact Nightwing pose.
If you visit Leslie while playing as matches, he asks her to find "The Kid" so he can talk to him. She tells him to take it easy on the kid because he has been through a lot. That's also why she says it wasn't hard to find him in the end credits. Also, if you go into Shrike's apartment, you can find Dick Grayson's room, where there is an article about his parents' deaths.
With that Court of Owls theory, I remember in Arkham City that when finding Azrael at the church, he said "Just what I need, another secret society" Maybe the Court was the 1st secret society he encountered, and somewhere along the timeline of Arkham, he fought the Talons and stopped them. Just imagine, Batman Arkham Court
The court of owls made their first debut about a month before arkham city released so its almost definitely a coincidence, its probably a reference to the league of shadows.
It's just Batman. If you look closely, it's the demonic Batman you fight later in the game - showing that Bruce has always been aware of his shadow, seeing it as this figure that's always watching, waiting for the moment he crosses the line.
Its also possible The Oder Of Saint Dumas and The Owls were rival groups back in the day of the Arkham-Verse way before Bruce or any of the rouges gallery were even born yet.
It also makes sense if Grayson is a little older. It's 12-13 years between Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight, Batman had Grayson, lost Jason and has Tim, who himself seems to be at least mid-twenties in a relationship with Barbara. So in Arkhamverse, rather than adopting kids, he saved teens before they went too far over the edge.

The shadowy figure is clearly Batman's shadow. It's an Easter egg. Azreal has no presence in the game. Also, he throws smoke bombs down when he vanishes. The shadow clearly stands then turns into a puff of smoke. Later in the game, you fight Batman's shadow when he's hallucinating from Crane's gas. A gas meant to help bring out a person's shadow. Batman's Shadow disappears in the same way in the fight as that shadowy figure on the gargoyle

The figure you see while entering black gate at 0:31, I believe its the shadow of batman which we see in the boss fight and the same shadow from Arkham Origins.
Yo, let's go! We need another Arkham game with Batman vs the Court of Owls, STAT!!! That'd be an INCREDIBLE end to an Origins trilogy! (I still see you, Blackgate, don't worry.) I also really love the callbacks to Azrael and the Order's part in the Arkham-verse. Despite the lackluster conclusion, the runes definitely add more weight to it all, retroactively. Considering how masterfully the team behind Arkham Shadow weaved character relationships together, while also paying closer attention to established Arkham canon than Rocksteady EVER did themselves, perhaps they could do even more with it in the future? After all, they actually gave depth to Crane and Dent: something that was sorely lacking in the other games--especially Knight! Perhaps there's even a connection to be made between the Court and the Order, hmm?
Talking about the mysterious spying figure, the theory looks like overcomplicating to me. It's most likely Bruce's shadow, which we fight at the end. Maybe it's just Bruce's subconscious, or there was just a little of Crane's gas in the air.
I think the shadowy figure stalking you when you enter black gate could be ra’s al gaul or one of his ninjas cause they we’re watching him and testing him in Arkham origins so maybe they could be stalking him to see if he’s worthy of being ra’s heir but I still love the court of owls idea I really want them in a game other than Gotham nights
For the Cyrus Pinkney date stuff, the Arkham timeline at this point is subjective. There are so many conflicting dates in backstory stuff and the main games themselves that you could really make an argument for these games taking place anywhere from the nineties to the present.
I think the next game should direct on when Jason gets taken by joker, then tim a high school kid finds out Batman is Bruce Wayne but it should go like Batman has a flashback or reminiscing of when dick became a robin for a few years(4-7)being robin then becomes night wing and then Batman remembering Jason too when he found him and took him in then started training him as robin then he becomes robin for 3-4 years before joker gets him kidnapped by some of his goons Then Batman starts his search for Jason after a month and few weeks of looking, a kid name Tim seen a headline on newspaper with Batman in it and seen a magazine with Bruce Wayne felt like something was off about them both but couldn’t put his finger on it few days later Tim finds himself in a alleyway where he sees a couple of bad people were he sees a woman getting into trouble with a man, Tim trys to intervene but couldn’t Batman shows up and stops it so quick Tim only got a good small glare from him before he left into the darkness and then it snapped in his head He puts everything together and realizes that Bruce Wayne is Batman goes to Wayne manor annoys tf out them till they eventually give in
Then Tim becomes robin for a few years or months while Barbara is still batgirl then that episode from Arkham knight where you play as batgirl plays in then after that the killing joke will happen Tim will then blame himself for awhile take some time off as robin, then Barbara will help you get joker cause he’s been escaped for awhile and hasn’t made appearance since then he does a plot where he try’s to get himself back into Arkham therefore starting asylum
Just my theory or thoughts for a next game but use Roger craig smith again but try make him sound a lil more similar to Kevin if there able too not tryna say that his performance isn’t already good but hearing his voice going from a young angrier Batman to a more experienced older Batman with confidence, that’s kinda how I seen Kevin’s performance
Cyrus Pinkney is a date retcon. They slid the timeline forward for some reason. In the audio logs in Shadow Cyrus goes to blackgate island for inspiration, in order to work with Solomon Wayne which he would have already done half a century prior. Also, Cyrus’ blackgate expedition wasn’t a secret, it was public, it is mentioned by an exhibit in the library, while in Origins we’re told that Cyrus really was believed to have died in 1855, so it doesn’t make sense.
There’s a very good reason Court of Owls wasn’t referenced much in the rocksteady trilogy only one of the games was out when the court of owls was created in the comics. They were fairly new when Arkham origins came out and was a popular comic run so that’s probably how they managed to get couple of Easter eggs into the games development
The court of owls should be the next main villian maybe ties with hush. And with their background in the comics. It should be called Batman: Arkham Sins
For the first theory - it's clear that's just a vision of Batman. If you look closely, it's literally just the demonic Batman you fight later in the game. Plus, it just poofs into a puff of smoke in a supernatural manner rather than using a tool. Thematically, it works as Bruce seeing his shadow watching him in the distance, always present. Since we're seeing the game literally through Bruce's eyes, it shows that he's always been aware of his more violent tendencies.
Couldn't the game take place in the middle of the long Halloween? Like a related case the three are solving because there isnt an upcoming holiday and Falcone is a suspect. Then Harvey gets his acid trip, which leads to him really pissed at Falcone and with the busted out of Prison Joker, Harley Quinn, Ivy, cobblepott and the scarecrow tries to attack him. Luckily theres a robin on the scene
I think something else to consider is a lot of stuff are just fun references or Easter eggs, and not always cemented in canon 100%. And retcons are very common for things like Easter eggs and such. So, it's entirely possible Shadow could retroactively "de-canonize" some of what is shown in the other main games.
BTW we are in the middle of the long halloween story during arkham shadow. Remember the story takes place over a year and it's just half way through the year
I think the long Halloween could still work since a lot of the main villains have or are slowly rising like Joker -arkham origins Penguin - arkham origins Mad hatter - arkham origins Catwoman - arkham origins blackgate Twoface - arkham shadow Scarecrow - arkham shadow (kinda) Poison Ivy (mention In arkham shadow) The riddler arkham origins (kinda) Bane - arkham origins (could substitute Solomon grundy) Harley quinn (I know she wasn't in it but if they want to add her I'm sure they could make it work) Killer croc - arkham origins Clay face (just references for now) And in a way we could get all the main heavy hitters kinda like their other team up with hush (the comic)
How do you mispronounce ivy and Isley, especially when they say it numerous times: Edit: good video btw but cmon brother I heard you get it right once😂
Something about Robin, Josh Keaton plays him here but doesn’t play dick in Knight, that’s Scott Porter (Flash from SSKTJL). Josh Keaton plays Robin in the Arkham origins online mode which now is confirmed to take place after Arkham shadow.
Wasn't it Calender Man at the beginning of Origins, who was called the "Holiday Killer"? What if they just simplified The Long Halloween story to just be Calander Man's origin?
I say it would be the court because there’s such a time jump from shadow and asylum. I think rock steady will release a new game between this time skip focused on the court mainly but with origins for other villains, like the first appearance of Harley as Harley Quinn, ivy, clay face, and Robin. Having it be the court being the main villain introducing Dick as Robin with his family connection to it. You can’t have the court as this hidden group that only Batman knows about everything is done under the shadows and not public. That would explain why no one else knows of it.
I’m pretty sure that the figure that watches Batman at the beginning is his shadow. When he zoomed in you can see that it’s the same model that is used when he’s under the fear toxin.
Dude gave me a good idea for what could be a good sequel game. Court of Owls plot as another Origins Era plot, but use it as a way to introduce Dick Grayson as Robin. They already hinted at Robin's potential debut throughout the game as is. Though maybe Dick isn't Robin throughout the game, maybe he becomes Robin half-way or towards the end but otherwise is trained while Batman's investigating a mystery maybe even Dick's parents deaths to help him get closure or something all while stumbling upon hints of the court, the court will have some of their comic inspired plans of wanting to recruit Dick to be another Talon but Batman/Bruce Wayne is in their way.
i read long halloween recently and i remember the book stating gilda was holiday up until or after the alberto falcone killing then harvey took over for the remainder with alberto taking the fall in the end
I believe the devs behind Arkham Shadow have confirmed DLC for the game, my top two picks for a post-game DLC campaign are Gilda Dent as the Holiday Killer in a homage to the Long Halloween or Pamala Isely becoming Poison Ivy. Dick Grayson would make his debut as Robin. Personally, I'd like to see a console made sequel that allows you to play as Batman, Robin or Batgirl in a fully explorable Gotham City and Arkham Asylum.
You're altered Long Halloween totally works. You can see why they didn't go with it though, the spaced out nature of that story wouldn't really work with an Arkham game, not impossible but it would be a bit disjointed.
Small thing but I believe in Gordon's office you can find some newspapers of what is called "the copy bat" at first I thought that this guy could have been the lock-up aka Bolton, but given someone watching you it may be some other vigilante
Keep it up on your work and this video and channel I love this video and channel Thanks you for your video and channel I love Batman Arkham all franchise Happy Halloween
The Court of Owls watching Batman is so interesting but I would see why some people would be thinking Azreal watching Batman but this is really cool in a way, Poison Ivy arrival is really intriguing to think about especially during this timeline it can really be interesting to see, The Long Halloween is basically canon but The Arkhamverse does it’s own thing like it does which makes sense for the continuity, Dick Grayson in this game was pretty cool was always canon in my opinion but hey this is really cool Easter eggs and references. Can’t wait for more Arkhamverse videos!
Detail 1 the figure is the shadow of Batman. Nothing to complicated it’s just his shadow. If you look carefully its the same looking model as the one you fight later on
i believe The reason The court of owls was never mentioned in arkham city because they didnt exist yet. The game pre dates the comic. Arkham city started development in 2009 at the same time they were finishing up development for arkham asylum and then batman Ac was released in 2011. Batman the court of owls vol. 1 was released 2012
Yeah there is 1 problem with that shadow thing watching you being a Talon. it's literally the shadow batman. It has the same build it looks the same eyes same everything it's literally the shadow batman Bruce is seeing fighting those thoughts. It's not azeral, it's not the court of owls it's just shadow batman
@@mattthegoat606 If I remember correctly I was close to the entry of Blackgate and I looked up and had a clear view of the model above me. Im on the Meta 3S and have no clue if its replicable or if they “patched” but I doubt they did. I’ll have to try it again whenever I replay the game.
The figure watching you at the prison entrance is the shadow Batman we fight later. It's supposed to be the way Bruce's more violent side is looming over him
I was kinda surprised Ivy didnt make a physical appearance at Blackgate. Pamela is probably on the verge of becoming Ivy at this point in the timeline.
I have a theory of how Batman meets Ivy & how she plays a role in The Long Halloween: Ivy becomes Poison Ivy in November and tries to poison everyone in Gotham (most likely with her spores) which causes Batman & Robin to put their investigation on the Holiday Killer on hold to go and stop her. After they beat her, Ivy takes advantage of Robin still being knew at this and poisons him with a massive dose of her toxins which causes Batman to let her go to get Robin back to the Batcave to save him. Batman doesn’t meet Ivy again until Falcone has her control Bruce Wayne to gain control of his company a few months later, which then Catwoman goes to save them
I find it hilarious that if that rat was Grayson what a way to meet your future adopted father. Like in AK, Batman was like "I'm proud of you, Dick" and in AS "WHERE'S SHRIKE, WHAT'S THE TARGET?!?!?" not only that but Batman absolutely put the hurt on the kid, going as far as to launch him through a concrete wall. That's how he became the first Robin? No wonder Jason turned out the way he did. Edit: Imagine being adopted by some rich millionaire, fresh off of the beating taken by The Batman only to find out later that the guy who adopted you is THE BATMAN, nah I'd be scared shitless constantly in the manor. I'd be on hands and knees waiting for instructions from this man. He is my GOD now.
I think the Mysteries Warrior is Batman shadow who we see in the Crane boss fight. I think that Batmans Shadow is stalkimg him like a shadow who waits when he snaps and then to take over and start killing criminals and be finally free but its just what i think
14:26 - Camouflaj screwed-up the timeline regarding the Cyrus Pinkney/Arkham family/Blackgate stuff, and it's really annoying. Origins established that Cyrus faked his death, killed Henry Cobblepot and went into hiding in 1855, not to be seen ever again. In Shadow, however, we learn that Pinkney led an expedition into Blackgate Island in 1910 and that Henry Cobblepot is still alive. That obviously doesn't make sense. In those "1910" tapes Pinkney also mentions that Blackgate used to be a prison, but we know from the Arkham lore that Blackgate Prison was created in the 1940s, so that doesn't make sense either. Also, if you explore the Arkham Ward, you can find some biographies (narrated by Crane) for the Arkhams, Solomon Wayne and Cyrus Pinkney. Those recordings say that Pinkney was born in 1882, but that doesn't make any sense because in Origins we find out that his faked death occurred in 1855. When you scan the first plaque, Alfred says that he was murdered on the eve of his 40th birthday, which would put his birth 40 years before, in 1815. That's almost 70 years before when Shadow says he was born. The entire Arkham family birthdates are all wrong too, the more outrageous one being Elizabeth Arkham (Amadeus' mother) who was born in 1858 according to Shadow, which can't be possible considering Amadeus was already a "young man" in 1855, according to Origins. GothamPaladin, since you're in contact with the folks over a Camouflaj can you ask them if they can fix those dates in an upcoming patch?

@@christar1ful301 It's so bizarre they did that.
@b.u.l.1734 Maybe there's a deeper meaning, maybe the devs intentionally made it like this to make ups look into it further
4:31 not "poison ev'vy" 😂 A.I. you will pay for your crimes
Poison what?? Bro is just doing it on purpose now.
While Ivy is transferred wrong, I love how this Game Adds New Lore to this Universe than SSKTJL.
The shadowy figure just looks like the bat creature Joker sees Batman as in Origins.
poison "ivvy" did the trick for me, super triggery pronounciation
It’s so cool to finally see a proper Batman game after all this time
Couldn't the game take place in the middle of the long Halloween? Like a related case the three are solving because there isnt an upcoming holiday and Falcone is a suspect. Then Harvey gets his acid trip, which leads to him really pissed at Falcone and with the busted out of Prison Joker, Harley Quinn, Ivy, cobblepott and the scarecrow tries to attack him. Luckily theres a robin on the scene
I love Grayson being a reformed criminal. Adds to Batman's pride in him.
I think something else to consider is a lot of stuff are just fun references or Easter eggs, and not always cemented in canon 100%. And retcons are very common for things like Easter eggs and such. So, it's entirely possible Shadow could retroactively "de-canonize" some of what is shown in the other main games.
I saw someone compare Cyrus Pinkney to Ivo Shandor from Ghostbusters. That would explain so much about Gotham City.
BTW we are in the middle of the long halloween story during arkham shadow. Remember the story takes place over a year and it's just half way through the year
Long Halloween probably takes place in Oct of year one and ends somewhere of year 2
I would love a batman arkham game with the court of owls
Bro knew what he was doing with that pause between Dick and Grayson
The best gaming of Easter Eggs. So much details in the Arkham verse.
I think the long Halloween could still work since a lot of the main villains have or are slowly rising like
Joker -arkham origins
Penguin - arkham origins
Mad hatter - arkham origins
Catwoman - arkham origins blackgate
Twoface - arkham shadow
Scarecrow - arkham shadow (kinda)
Poison Ivy (mention In arkham shadow)
The riddler arkham origins (kinda)
Bane - arkham origins (could substitute Solomon grundy)
Harley quinn (I know she wasn't in it but if they want to add her I'm sure they could make it work)
Killer croc - arkham origins
Clay face (just references for now)
And in a way we could get all the main heavy hitters kinda like their other team up with hush (the comic)
How do you mispronounce ivy and Isley, especially when they say it numerous times: Edit: good video btw but cmon brother I heard you get it right once😂
he's doing it on purpose to mess with people like youu
So that you give him engagement, nice work playing right into his trap 🤡
@ I mean I don’t really care it’s just kinda wierd and loser behavior 😂
@@raymondpleasant he’s a weirdo than probably not gonna watch him I hate that and clickbait stuff it’s just dumb lol
Poison eve?
Something about Robin, Josh Keaton plays him here but doesn’t play dick in Knight, that’s Scott Porter (Flash from SSKTJL). Josh Keaton plays Robin in the Arkham origins online mode which now is confirmed to take place after Arkham shadow.
Ahh, my mistake!
@@GothamPaladin all good man!
Wasn't it Calender Man at the beginning of Origins, who was called the "Holiday Killer"? What if they just simplified The Long Halloween story to just be Calander Man's origin?
14:58 It's also nice that it gives us a canon choice with Azreal. Now we know that he chose to spare Batman and chase after the Order.
bro saying ivie and izy but not ivy
I say it would be the court because there’s such a time jump from shadow and asylum. I think rock steady will release a new game between this time skip focused on the court mainly but with origins for other villains, like the first appearance of Harley as Harley Quinn, ivy, clay face, and Robin. Having it be the court being the main villain introducing Dick as Robin with his family connection to it. You can’t have the court as this hidden group that only Batman knows about everything is done under the shadows and not public. That would explain why no one else knows of it.
How can you possibly pronounce Poison Ivy like that after playing these games for so long 😂
Is it only me that Arkham shadow gives me Arkham city vibes
This kinda explains their relationship in the arkham games rather then being father and son it's seems more like just a mentor and pupil relationship.
i have never laughed so hard watching a batman video gp's comedic timing is on POINT!😭
The Court of Owls didn't appear in Arkham City because it came out in 2011, and the Court first appeared in comics in 2011.
There is also a black mask and fire fly Easter egg when you are around the solitary confinement part
i read long halloween recently and i remember the book stating gilda was holiday up until or after the alberto falcone killing then harvey took over for the remainder with alberto taking the fall in the end
My theory for the first one is that that’s Bruce’s manifest of what Batman is before Crane has him face it.
Keep it up on your work and this video and channel
I love this video and channel
Thanks you for your video and channel
I love Batman Arkham all franchise
Happy Halloween
The Court of Owls watching Batman is so interesting but I would see why some people would be thinking Azreal watching Batman but this is really cool in a way, Poison Ivy arrival is really intriguing to think about especially during this timeline it can really be interesting to see, The Long Halloween is basically canon but The Arkhamverse does it’s own thing like it does which makes sense for the continuity, Dick Grayson in this game was pretty cool was always canon in my opinion but hey this is really cool Easter eggs and references. Can’t wait for more Arkhamverse videos!
In my opinion I feel like the long Halloween take plays in between Batman Arkham origins and Arkham shadow cuz of the claw marks on falcones face.
Detail 1 the figure is the shadow of Batman. Nothing to complicated it’s just his shadow. If you look carefully its the same looking model as the one you fight later on
we need one more batman arkham origins game with ivy babydoll robin and when joker invaded city hall
i believe The reason The court of owls was never mentioned in arkham city because they didnt exist yet.
0:51 in my playthrough it was shadow batman
and yes i did see the model
@@frenchwafer5198 where?? I want to see too
@@mattthegoat606 If I remember correctly I was close to the entry of Blackgate and I looked up and had a clear view of the model above me. Im on the Meta 3S and have no clue if its replicable or if they “patched” but I doubt they did. I’ll have to try it again whenever I replay the game.
@frenchwafer5198 If you're able please record i really wan't to see it
The figure watching you at the prison entrance is the shadow Batman we fight later. It's supposed to be the way Bruce's more violent side is looming over him
And I'm pretty sure a future DLC with the Riddler was leaked via the phone numbers in Blackgate.
I think Azreal was like off world and I think Batman was studying him maybe that's why he got a staue of him or for some reason
I was kinda surprised Ivy didnt make a physical appearance at Blackgate. Pamela is probably on the verge of becoming Ivy at this point in the timeline.
Please make a part 2!
I think that it is the talons as well and i feel like we are going to get a classic batman arkham game with the court of owls
I have a theory of how Batman meets Ivy & how she plays a role in The Long Halloween:
Ivy becomes Poison Ivy in November and tries to poison everyone in Gotham (most likely with her spores) which causes Batman & Robin to put their investigation on the Holiday Killer on hold to go and stop her.
When you meet harvey and gordon in the prologue. There are posters of an false batman in the city. I think it's him who observe malone.
Imagine... The court of owls against The Order of St. Dumas with Batman in the middle of the conflict
Killer timing ✨🎨🦅
The long Halloween happened before the game
I think the Mysteries Warrior is Batman shadow who we see in the Crane boss fight. I think that Batmans Shadow is stalkimg him like a shadow who waits when he snaps and then to take over and start killing criminals and be finally free but its just what i think
It's still possible that Cyras Pinkiny is Solomon Grundy ... Honestly i hope that theory is true & that Grundy is in future Batman games
Oh womp womp
More people need to see this
people have already complained about this and devs said they would fix it in the future. honestly though i dont see how this is such a big issue
@@duoduos9221 Have they said that?
It's not a big issue, but it's a really annoying one, specially for those of us who care about the lore.
