You might be into for 50 days but I would love to see it completed . Once you stop you never come back to your projects . Please complete this it has kept a lot of viewers coming back . Maybe bring in one of the other half finished projects and use it as a break from this one when needed .
To all doubters out there. This is a marketing strategy, to promote the channel and his fabrication skills, it’s more than likely it’s never gonna be on the road. This is chad’s dream, and he makes his dream come true. He’s just practicing what he preaches to all youngsters and the young at heart out there, and maybe few people in this world should take notice
Good luck gaining engineering certification and therefore on-road registration for this vehicle, the only parts that conform to the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations are the original chassis and undercarriage. Considerable automotive engineering expertise is required to connect the front chassis members to a substantial front bumper to reduce injury in the event of a frontal collision.
@@kenhargreaves1018 Valuable input, I do hope Jolene is able to find time to sit down with Chad and work through the deficiencies in his engineering. I assume the Inspection Station manual is publicly available.
Hi Chad… I sent you a message about two weeks ago pointing out the fact you’re creating a “Widow/Widower Maker”. I specified this idiom because there isn’t any structural steel reinforcement in the front end of the Bugatti Hauler. There is only one-inch square tubing and 18-gauge steel plate. Because there is not a “Crumple Zone” built in, any collision involving the front end may result in severe injury to the unfortunate occupants. If you choose not to add any structural steel, I suggest you add gussets and/or angular supports at every junction of the square tubing. All those triangles will strengthen the front end. In addition, the wood floor will not provide any protection either. In fact, that area where a bench seat or bucket seats are anchored to the wood may disintegrate during a high-speed frontal impact. The wood will collapse and splinter, causing additional, preventable, injuries. Now let’s exam the exit path from this vehicle. Only one door? And… it is located up and behind the passenger cabin. You must rethink this engineering decision. In an emergency, you must be able to egress the vehicle quickly. Please observe on the photo of the original “Doodle Bug”. There are doors on either side of the passenger compartment. If you don’t correct these design flaws, the Bugatti Hauler will not pass the Canadian Safety Inspection. Please give my suggestions your immediate consideration. Thank you. JOLENE, thank you for your MAGNIFICENT CAMERAWORK!!
I agree with this statement. This vehicle should be a static display only. If you want to drive this yourself, fine but don’t endanger anyone else. I don’t think you will follow this advice.
It will roll through car shows and into the new building. He will never take it on Sunday cruises. The Bugatti hauler thing might apply for pictures but they will never actually haul it on a trailer anywhere.
I was thinking this first day on the front overhang , the front crash area is you very little till your legs and front body momentum take it . I’m sure Chad has considered this and going the way of if an accident happens then it will be bad . The extra actuation will be in the hands of the driver and those on the road in front of you. Kinda thinking this vehicle will never see an icy road, not because of the climate ,because it just won’t leave the garage first sight winter weather .
Hes not going to reply hes in his own world but people like him some of the way he does things dangerous its going to be interesting on fuel wiring harness and a list of thins
Im so amused by everyone worried about safety!! Its a truck being built to make content for RUclips, if you think for a second he's gunna toad trip this rig 5000 miles towing a trailer you gotta be tripping on something 😂
I like to see him taking his time, not rushing the clock...Don't worry about the number of days, I would get it where you can move it in and out for other projects, etc...
Love this show recommended it to 4 people rat rod 70 year old a 13 year old teen dreaming of his first car and son trying to arc weld every thing doesn’t believe in mig I love it and my grandson getting my current 79 f100 project
This has to be one of the most weird fabricated vehicles I 've ever seen.Maybe it can be sold to Hollywood for a futurist movie..I give it two thumbs up
Doodlebug is looking great. The bumpers would be fine. Because that away and setting in your garage behind your shop then it's something bumps into the bunker it will protect your sheet metal. The sweep out the floor as a storage room
BAD CHAD YOU ARE THE MAN THAT DOES IT RIGHT; YOU ARE THE GUY WHO KNOWES WHAT HE IS DOING AND IS GREAT TO BE ABLE TO WATCH YOU BUILD ALL OF THOSE HOT ROD CARS; IT SURE IS A LEARNING EXSPERENCE FOR ME. AND THANKS FOR THAT.
Hello Chad, I'm french and leave 40 km far from the place where Bugatti(s) were produced. The town is called Molsheim and there are a lot of Bugatti in my region. I realy appreciate the way you interpret this classic Bugatti's design. I'm anticipating the result. Jolene's Bugatti is an Atlantic but your truck seems to be inspired by the Atalante model of Bugatti. You are a Master! Congrats👍
This is an awesome build. Please keep going on it myself and my friends can hardly wait till it's completed.I know sometimes these long projects can get boring but please carry on. It's OK if you try another job for a day or two ,but I would love to see this completed, it sure would be a testament to your skills. Hi Jolene and Fina.Ontario fan
EXTENSION CORDS Hi just a thought, but if you plug your grinder in and put a black line from one plug to the other, you will save time looking if they are the right way around .Watch everyday for the last 2 years keep up the great work and camera work. Pete and Vicki from New Zealand
This may sound like a dis but I don’t mean it that way. Chad is an artist that welds and has plenty of practice. He’s NOT a pro welder. RUclips has lots of welding tutorials from pro welders that I expect would give you better advise. He’s also not that great of a sheet metal fabricator. He’s just driven and has a talent for balancing his lack of skill with his artistic visions.
I wanted to add to that because although true, it sounds worse than I intend. He has more energy and drive than anyone I’ve ever seen. I enjoy watching because he inspires me to get off my butt and work On my own projects. His skill is mostly artistic and work ethic. He enjoys what he does. The lack of skill comment is because I never seen him do any panel beating, hammer forming etc. he has an English wheel but never uses it. His creations are on a budget I’m sure so time is part of it as well but don’t look at him as a skilled coach builder.
Looking really really great. Double dang, that hauler is going to b sweeet. Not as sweet looking as Jolene, but getting up there! The bumper is reallt cutting down on the shin eating capability of the hitch, sometimes a minor thing for men, but your lady will appreciate not having her legs scared and bruised.
just thinking it may be a good idea to put luvers in the front panel of the engine cover for positive air flow to help the radiator keep the engine cool
With all the troubles yesterday today should be a wee bit easier . But we will see how it goes . Sometimes things go awry when you least expect it . Thumbs-up Jolene ❤and Chad and team Hiltz let's get this thing started ! You'll have to pick out the mirrors for this bug I wonder which style he goes for ? I got to belive he'll use what he's got lol !
Suggestion. Cut your sheet metal on a piece of plywood. You can work right on top of your piece and you don’t have to hold the sheet up off the ground. Works great.
I'm kinda liking the face of the bumper open like that. But it will be awesome no matter if you it open or sheathed in. I know this build is getting monotonous for you and would probably like to get on to something else but stick with until finished please. You guys are doing amazing work!! But if you happen to take a break from it do aome work on elvis and get him finished. I really love that one. The colors are freaking awesome.
The top of the hitch, there is black plastic inserts in variety of sizes that fit and work for this application perfectly . We use them for our millwork all the time .
Like i keep tellin you for weeks now ! you have no extended front frame rails to absorb front impact tied to a strong steel bumper will save your life without certain death !
Try as much as i can to watch full video. Entertains me. Plus your need for youtube counts. I feel lile im helping in my own small way. Keep on Chad and Jolene. Your channel is a great dyi show. Apréciation
Hi there. I’ve been following this build from the very beginning. I’m a big fan of the channel from NB Canada on the richibucto river. Not a big fan of the wing. But that’s just my 2 cents. Love the look of the doodle bug/bugatti hauler. Hope all is well and you have a great day.
You made comment on the set of roller wearing a grove in the rollers. You might try staggering the rollers putting grooves on opposite sides of each other and see if that will take the twist out of the tubing when you roll them.
G'day Chad, I like what I see man. The rear bumper ties in well. You mentioned that the build is getting a bit monotonous this is dig deep time. Keep the videos coming. ✌️ Peace
It now needs a window or two on the sides I think it would look cool plus it's going to be really dark in side it would help when you work on engine and something else across the top put a 1 1/2' wide flat plate from front to back like a train using square stock like you did with bumpers maybe have it where it has air flow because the engine will make it super hot in side You know how hot the metal containers get in the summer time. The fumes from the engine are going to be very bad without having some type of air flow out of the in side
I enjoy his work but I also don't think there is enough egress out of it in case of accident. 1 in. tubing and wood floor is not enough protection. Sorry 😢
I'm 91. I would like to see it finished.

I agree as well. I do enjoy watching the work being done, but from what I've seen advice in this vein is never heeded.

I don’t know anything about truck safety standards but I’m confident Chad would never compromise Jolene’s safety and health while driving the hauler.
Agreed!

Always a blast watching this metal master at work
He's as much of a master as I am an aeroplane 😂😂

It is looking more and more amazing everyday !!!
The bumper really finishes it off and I like that it hides the receiver.
Glad you two are back on your game 👍
Jolene ❤️ Hey Fina❣️
The rear bumper brings the beauty of the doodle bug.
I like the way both the front and back bumpers are the same.
That blue marking die would have been ideal for when you scribed the height of the bumper onto the body.
Bummer looks Exalt stands out good from the body of the Bugatti hauler enjoy watching chad and Jolene great camera work.
The bumper...compliments the fin i think...looks good together....the whole hauler looks good and thank ya jolene for filming it all..cya tomorrow

when rolling square stock, put the weld seam on th inside of the curve,,, the roll will go less wonky that way

I’m relly likeing the rear bumper chad,,great addition to the bild,,hi to Jolene an fina too,,luv ya’s,,👍👍😀
Chad is from a different mold. That's why I love his work.

Hi Jolene , I stopped by the other Sunday and no one was around. i left Chad something on the old car by the front door of the shop.

Clear the steel and spraying the color to matching the steel where it need too look air stream
Just right looking good
It will look a lot better with the back bumper on.
That thing will be fun. You'll get tons of heads turning as you drive down the streets.
That bumper and that wing really set it off and I thought that the Texaco tanker was missing something and it was that wing, keep killing it.
Chad! Put port holes through the Finn! Like cafe racer style
Looking AWESOME!
Can you guys buy another roller
Awesome, Thanks
The small bottles on the migs how quickly do you use them up and change out
You made comment on the set of roller wearing a grove in the rollers. You might try staggering the rollers putting grooves on opposite sides of each other and see if that will take the twist out of the tubing when you roll them.
have you ever tryed a couple hose reels in the center on the ceiling the middle of the garage
Hey Chad. Why wouldn’t you use a set of power shears to cut the metal? They leave a clean cut.
Hey Mate. When you refer to the "Eastwood Machine", I reckon you should call him "Clint"
G'day Chad,
I like what I see man. The rear bumper ties in well.

It may be a big undertaking and it may be monotonous at times, but it’ll be well worth it when you get to see the final result!
The bumper looks good nice touch
It's gonna be great, Chad!
