I need to say one thing. 16 years ago I was starting with my DJ carrier and your videos helped me a lot with technical DJ stuff and BPM counting and how to listen and play songs. After all these years I'm still DJing. Loving it still. And I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do ❤️
I've owned mine since April and it's worth every penny. Build quality is top notch. The software integration is unbelievable and smooth. I run a 1tb ssd and everything loads instantly. 60 weddings done and zero issues. I've used a laptop controller for many years and thought I'd struggle to transition but it's been really easy. The laptop stays at home these days. I juat look forward to every wedding so I can play on it. Every club Dj thats tried it can't believe how good it is.
great review, I still cant get over how much the the design and material construction make it look more in line with an entry level controller, but at a 5k price tag. yeesh
I got one yesterday. Had the rx3 for 3 years I was impressed but it did freez. But this thing is something else 👌 been watching your videos for years the best and most honest reviews on all the djay kit will allways be a fan keep up the awesome work
I get the idea behind the concept. But I feel its aimed at a more relaxed type of DJ (weddings, corporate Xmas doos or school disco) , I'm not sure how good it would be to use in a high entensity type of mixing, having more buttons kinda makes me feel in control especially when I need to do things fast. With the Opus I feel I'd be spending too much time scrolling through menus trying to find settings and looking at the screen when all I need is a button or fader that's easy to find with muscle memory.. I think pioneer have created it to show what could be done at the other end of the spectrum... Its a concept. I'm still holding out to see what happens... If it happens... With an XZ mk2 But I'm also very interested to see more videos on this unit from you ellaskins... Will be interesting to see how you get on with it. 😊
Bingo..That was my first impression too..The thing is too busy and packed with features which need your attention when you need to focus elsewhere..Still love it but if I buy a new piece of kit..I'd buy something simplier.. an XDJ XZ or RX3 would do..
@@DjEliasL I was considering for months whether to get Opus Quad or not, till I finally did few weeks ago. All my fears of being reliable mainly on the screen vanished. Yes, they removed performance buttons and kept cues only, also removed buttons for things u usually set once for a gig and then don´t touch much... made it way simplier actually. Also this step allows them to come with updates and new features based on software, when it´s not hardware buttons reliable. I like this. Else the overall experience, and that I mix mostly edm (trance, techno, house), actively with 3-4 decks, I have not a single thing to complain about. The software works so smooth and everything is pretty much intuitive. I guess I will just get a separate performance pad and it will be abslutely perfect then :) But for me this purchase was worth every penny.
Brilliant video Jonathan. I got my unit a few weeks ago. For a mobile, wedding Dj, this unit has gone a long way, Pioneer have hit the nail on the head yet again. Super easy to use, sounds brilliant and is extremely fast. Would never use a laptop again. Practice and enjoy!
Totally agree with you on mot removing any more buttons and just relying on the screen. DJing is about being in control, and turning dials and pressing buttons makes us feel cool 😎
Like the idea to work without laptop , I'm always hated controllers and prefer and fan of vinyl or players ... Btw now I'm using a set of Denon 5000m and Denon 1800 what has the same price like this one . Cons of this i think is more easy to carry on because it's not heavy like player and a mixer , but I think Denon set has more future .
I've been following your content for years but haven't been able to afford getting into mixing yet. I finish nursing school next year and think I'm going to treat myself to this mixer and a couple of plx 1000's
it looks really nice i love the big screen in the middle. if i had the money i would certainly buy one of them. you will have to give us a live set with it.
I can understand why Pioneer DJ has moved the effects to the Screen, they can now add effects and features in future firmware updates. Streaming audio via Bluetooth is a nice new feature. I really dislike the shape unfortunately. 👍🏼
Hi great and true review as usual... Yeah no need to carry your laptop that's the real experience of a real standalone unit and no need to rely on laptop... me on my denon prime 4 i have a 1tb ssd in it with all my collection ready and frequently updated with new tracks via the software and it's fantastic... and in a case one day their is a failure of my ssd i carry also a thumb drive with a copy of all my collection on it so if this occurs i just have to insert it in and the party goes on 😁🤩😏...
That looks absolutely amazing for sure & has some very lush & luxe features as well as having a price tag to go with those things - I just don’t think I could ever reasonably buy that over other options - I’d love to play some dnb on it for a set though 😻
Please provide a video showing a four way mix using the beat sync & key sync working together without the tracks drifting. Long deep house blends. and leave the low mid and hi at unity. Great tech if it works.Thank you.
5:04 "You do not need a laptop" 6:10 "I want to explain something that should be pure logic: You buy a player like this you download on your PC..." So in the end you need a computer... The question is if you want to bring it or rather spend time fiddle with USB-drives. Anyways, I'm a big fan and I appreciate all your hard work you put into making these videos.
Purchased one last week. Generally happy and loving 4 channels, no PC. Missing search button on Decks tho to quickly search through track. yes I know there knob to 'go to middle' listening has been included, but I do miss scanning while track is in deck. if this is available and I haven't found out yet, please let me know :). Always loved your vid's Ella, keep them up :)
Would love one but it would never leave my flat at that cost lol. Sticking with my flx4 and its horrible tempo faders for now. Wonder if the xz2 is coming in a year or so also?
Had been pining for and XZ but only just realised since this got released it doesnt play the 3rd and 4th channels out the box. Opus Quad is on the wish list now!
The most liberating thing is not using the laptop. The machine forces you to organize yourself better instead of relying on the laptop and you can engage with with your audience better
Does this compare to the cdjs? Been out the game a minute last cdjs I owned were the 1000MK2s and a DJM800 also have technics as well but what makes this better than some of the nicer controllers like the ddj flx 10 that looks more like cdjs overall layout wise and I don’t care if it’s a standalone or not just want as close to a club setup without spending 10k lmfao
This is gonna be a love or hate situation. It’s near on £3000 I’m looking at buying a secondhand unit, DDJ-RX-2 in mint condition for £1000 Should I buy this or spend another £700 for the RX3 brand new
I would get the RX3 if you can afford it, or wait for the ZX2 (fingers crossed 🤞). I have the DDJ-FLX10 and I think I'm going to return it and wait for the ZX2.
Hell Yeeeeah Sir i love your honest opinions on the mixers and it's knobs i feel the same way too :) it's nice but too much new features doesn't feel the same as it was growing up and my bro dj with good ol' turntables he owned before he retired from the djing mood and gave his equipment and vinyl records to his good friends. i own the first XDJ-RX1 and also own the Numark Mixdeck Quad 4 Channel System, hope to upgrade in the future but for now they both do the trick
@ellaskins Instead of connecting MIC to the microphone input you can definitely plug in the Drum Machine device to this and control the volume as well, the tracks has already drum in it but instead I use imported Stems from Computer to play without drums just to add own drums :D
Cool video, cheers Jonathan. What would you say is the best value standalone pioneer controller? I'm considering getting one down the line though would really prefer ones with cd players as well. Not interested in having to connect a laptop, thanks 👍👍
Hey, I just wanted to reply on your tattoo. I have just had my first one (at age 40, woohoo) a couple of weeks ago and I had the F-key tattooed as well. I've never seen anyone with an F-key tattoo and you're the first one I see having it. I could've gone with the G-key, but I like to be unique. Props to you mate, props to you ! As for the video. I have had the Opus Quad for roughly three weeks, before returning the device. I just don't like it. It had hickups, the screen was not well (for my eyes) to look at and there was a sort of resonance coming from the outputs of the device. I know I had one of the first batch and I was given the opportunity (by Pioneer DJ) to wait for the second one, but I didn't have the time to wait. I wonder if the second batch (that started shipping three months ago) had it fixed.
It's wood color but it's not actually wood. I picked mine up last Friday finally, it took 3 months to get it in. It makes the xdj-rx2 I traded in feel like a toy. It's way faster and being able to preview songs without having to load them to the deck is a game changer. It is very different though. I'm still getting used to it.
@@erikstagg6347 im definately gonna go for that one when i can afford it the only downside for me is that its massive id have to get a proper setup for it and id not just be able to have a sit down mix on my bed anymore 😁 unless i make it so i can have a chair
To me personally that’s the best looking product ever produced by Pioneer. I wish they produce CDJ’s that looks exactly the same. The fact that it looks so good , it doest have wierd screens on the jogs and it has play and cue lights. Come on pioneer don’t be like fkin apple. Maybe Just make a 2 channel controller exactly like this one (without the big screen in the middle) the other two screens are completely enough to navigate and I guarantee you it will be a best seller.
Better and better equipment, but shittier songs at the same time. Now it is harder to construct a solid mix due to the scarcity of good tracks, not due to lack of mixing skills . Anyway, big respect for all your videos throughout all these years, you must have really educated many djs.
I really like the look of it, hate the copper colour of the knobs… BUT standing back at the moment because I know alotta folks have had major build issues where the platters have moved out of central position and the casting around the edge has come apart. I think pioneer rushed this system out to quickly. Serato can now be used with it…what really is stupid is that there is no where to put a hard drive directly in apart from an SSD which you gotta plug in. A very bad thing that is super annoying as the price of this system it should have had somewhere it could be permanently installed. Removing the Pads was also stupid. Everyone I know who uses controllers rely on those to use cue points. The screen is super cool and has so much info and….. this unit is gonna be future proof due to the fact it can be updated as pioneer makes new features. The sound system inside is prolly the best on the market. There is so much more to this system once you go much deeper. It’s basically a super cool computer under that lid.

Does this usb cable reacts to the speed of data information being played or processed?
