Not just playing guitar (although doing that with awesomeness) but producing a soundscape that , like a picture, evokes mood and feeling way beyond what simple notes can achieve. With every shade of touch and feel colour this is virtuoso musicianship of the highest order.

perfect solid state pedal platform.. when all 3 of my valve amps were being serviced, and my hybrid (koch jupiter) started acting up, i had no new pre-amp tubes on hand (my bad).. jumped onto reverb (and other retailers) to grab a few 12ax7 (about a year ago).. holy sh!t !!! $30 dollars for a pre-amp tube !! i was used to buying them for $10 (and stupidly did not build a stash at those prices).. so, screw that nonsense, i will wait for prices to come back down, and in the meantime, went out and bought 2 of the champion 100s (one new.. one used).. i only use the clean channel and my pedals, at low volume.. takes pedals beautifully, and also responds very well to speaker swaps.. jump in.. the solid state water is fine indeed.. rock on dave.. one of the truly great spirits wandering on the "tube"..

Even in Dave's pain he faithfully transforms it to our Gain. Thank You so very much Sir David! I come back every once in awhile to this demo. I think cause of the emotional place you were in at that time it just came through your playing so beautifully. Still love this jam it’s one of my favorites you’ve ever done. I’m so excited you got the new tonemaster deluxe, Cause it’s great to get to hear you play through a Fender amp like that all the time now. That amp is absolutely brilliant, and I’m thinking about getting the Twin or the Deluxe myself now. I haven’t wanted a new amp in along time, but those are the Fender amps I’ve always wanted. All the tone without the fuss of tubes. Anyhow, take care. Can’t wait to hear more of that new amp.

thanks for such a great amp review Dave, I have this amp. I'm surprised other youtubers like ola, andertins, or Spector sound studios haven't made a review of this amp yet as its a very affordable gem of an amp, so thank you Dave . it is a beast, I'm a metal/industrial/blues player, and this amp can do it all. it has great metal tones you can dial in and with the pedals of your choice your sounds only limits depend on what you can do, it is a fender after all, lol. for a 2x12 amp it was biggest bang for the buck I could afford. (here in Canada it's $499.00 and change) most 2x12 amps here start in the $600.00 range. you can gig with it live and studio, but she is VERY loud so if your in an apartment like I am, its a good idea to get a good set of headphones. the aux input is perfect for jamming along with demos or any mp3 player/phone, etc. Dave your an amazing guitarist are you gonna release any music ? please do sir ! in closing I'll say its not the hardships that pass through our lives that define us, its how we overcome and persevere the hardships that defines us. keep rocking Dave, we love ya dude !

cool story about this amp. i walk into guitar center with my buddy and i was immediately drawn to it. i always loved fender amps, and it looked like a twin at first to me.
so my buddy and i walked over to it and looked at the price tag. $89! in the used section. the only “problem” was that someone put really high quality wheels on the bottom of it! so we asked an employee and they said it was mislabeled but we could have it for the price that was listed...
now we always run it alongside my $800 blues deluxe for gigs and that beast of a $89 amp sure keeps up... sounds great. love it

This video got me to buy the amp. I could not find another video with a good enough capture of its sound in a room. Everything else was close miked, which doesn't do this amp justice. Fender amps, when done right, absolutely fill the room with tone and sound.
I can't wait until next Friday to play mine!

    • @SpiralJucifer
      @SpiralJucifer 2 месяца назад

Reporting back! The Champ exceeded my expectations with the clean and edge of breakup sounds, and it takes pedals like a.. Champ! The reverb is very close to that of its analog counterparts, and it fills the room with big sound. All boxes checked.
The effects are decent but not great. Good enough for practice but pedals are the way to go.

Thanks for the detailed demo on the clean channel. What I’ve really been looking for is a Fender-voiced, analog, solid state amp with two 12”inch speakers, and there doesn’t seem to be any more options like that anymore now that the Frontman’s and such have been discontinued. So I’m looking at this amp, not for the digital amp section, but for its analog power amp and 2-12 format. I think the preamp might even be analog, but at the very least, it has an input for the power amp so I could just use that with an external preamp.

Sorry to hear your under the weather Dave , praying for your fast recovery!!!!
I use to own the Frontman 100watt amp and holy moly I love it very much , the volume knob if I just move it a smudge to level 1 vol
it was loudness from hell and I didn’t care for it so early in volume - besides my neighbors cussing 🤬 was really inspiring at 3am...lol.
With Fromtman 100watt , ppl would use it loudly for long playing times then amp would break down eventually & sometimes during gigs.
Hoping Champion models fix those issues.
Your review brought back many memories of my frontman 👍
I may cave in 1 day and get this champion 100watt model because I swear both amp faces are identical setting knobs ...
Does anyone out there know how to lower loud volumes maybe adding a device? , btw I like loud but not out of gate , like to make it to level 2 b4 -BAM!!! Let’s Rock .. lol

Bit late for the party …. but I’ve just recently got hold of an extremely tidy Fender Champion 100 for the princely sum of £100. I’d agree with everything you say about this amp, including the “something missing” part. I’ve just swapped the speakers out for a pair of speakers I removed from a 1973 Hiwatt 4x12 cab many years ago, and the results are very positive. Much better mids, Chrystal clear top, and nice tight lows. I’d now be happy to gig this amp anywhere.
Overnight, I’ve quadrupled the value of the amp …. and doubled it’s weight!
    Totally worth it though 😊

Did you ever change out the speakers on the champion 100... just wondering if you did... I just pulled the trigger on one and would love to upgrade speakers if it's needed... but they say the stock speakers are specially designed for the modeling it has which I won't really be using... I will probably use a clean channel with pedals with bluesy Hendrix style tones... and getting ready to put a little band project together....and currently recording some originals.... sorry for the novel.. you think I should upgrade speaker ??

Good honest talking again Dave, don't worry, there's plenty of us folks that feel shitty, down and don't feel the need to put a front on. You're an inspiration. I can't play for shit but you keep me at it 🙂

I owe you thanks for the tip to turn the bass on the gain channel all the way down. It made that side of my Champion 100 sound 1,000x better.
