    Super useful and the comments and your updates on the 3m
    Sealant still holding well -
    Got the same job to do. Thanks!

    Tip: You should have drilled the holes much smaller so the nozzle of the foam can fit much tighter.

    I am about to do this with my own shower. It has quite a bit more damage to it. Also going to make my first video and will give a shout out to you. Thanks for your instructions and advice.

      Hey Scott, how did your try of the fix go? I'm researching this in anticipation of future cracks of any acrylic installments.

    I saw your first video and had concerns that even marine epoxy won't stick well to certain plastics. Being a sailor I am well aware of 3M 5200. That should do the trick. I think I will try that.

      the 3M 5200 it holding up great. The problem is the filling material that I injected under the pan. It just collapsed after a few month. I will have to revisit this issues again soon.

    Just watched both of your videos on this shower repair. Had already placed my order for the Marineweld (I actually talked with JB-Weld and that is what they suggested). Too bad that didn't work. How long did the Marineweld actually hold? Also, is the 3M still holding almost a year later? Thank you!

    • @HeikosGarage
      @HeikosGarage  Год назад +3

      The 3m is still in place. Holding up great. The JB weld marine epoxy failed pretty quickly.

    Thank you for your video. I have this crack on my acrylic shower tray I wish to fix but I can't seem to come across a suitable glue to fill. According to what I found out is marine epoxy (PC11) doesn't stick to acrylic while 3M 5200 melts acrylic. Is there something you can suggest that I should use please? Thanks.

      My shower pan is acrylic and i used 3m 5200. It doesn't melt acrylic.
      5200 does the trick.
      5200 is a marine sealant adhesive it doesn't devolve other materials. Good luck.

    Thank you for this video! I also watched your first video and really appreciate you doing this follow-up video with another method to try.
    I have a fiberglass shower pan which has a crack from the drain about 4 in long. I'm adding reinforcement under the shower as it does not appear there was enough reinforcement under the floor to begin with. I read the 3M sealant package and it says it can be used on fiberglass also. Do you have any updated tips or information before I begin? I sure did not want to have to replace this shower right now, so your video has given me hope 🙂

      @HeikosGarage  Год назад +6

      So far the 3m marine sealant is holding up great. One thing that I would change in the procedure is the spray foam. It seems like the foam always collapses after awhile and the pan starts flexing again.
      I would instead use a sealant (cheap stuff) like this amzn.to/3eTUBuC
      To fill the void under the pan. Still works the same. Drill hole, degrease, fill void, let cure, seal the crack with 3m. Good luck.

      I was going to do a couple applications of the foam but using weight to compress it before it is cured. I hope that works and I will share my video when complete.

    I am thinkin about just replacing the PAN. will cut the old one out and then try to pry the wall from bottom enough to get the pan in . What are your thoughts about this> I basically have the same shower, but my floor pan is not acrylic.. went for a cheaper model to finish the job. Now I need to replace and want to put the stronger acrylic in... do you think it would be an impossible Job? Will have to think about how I can get liquid Nails under the walls to glue them back into place.

    • @HeikosGarage
      @HeikosGarage  6 месяцев назад

      I am not sure if you are going to be able to pry the wall away. It is usually screwed into studs. Good look.

    How come you didnt drill the hole in the side and not inside the shower? that way you dont have to use apoxy for the drilled holes?

      This shower pan is not fiberglass. It is an acrylic pan.

    • @Adoogin

      I have the same insert pan and I tried fiberglassing it to start and it just peels off. That said I didn't do the bondo over it. I'm going this route as I type... just waiting for the foam to set up. I used DAP max fill and it worked perfectly.
