- "He was one of very, very few people on earth whom I would have missed just as much had I never had the pleasure and fortune of knowing him. He lit fires in people's minds. He was an educator...
Goodbye, Christopher Hitchens. You were envied, feared, adored, reviled and loved. Never ignored. Never bested. A great and marvellous man." Stephen Fry
I really believe that Hitch passionately wanted to make a great statement for humanity for sticking to his guns, but being totally in control of his opinion and fighting the good fight. CH had a great sense of humor.
This is outstanding. He is dead but the impact of his life is immortal. Great video!
The more I watch tributes of him, the harder it is to shake off the wish of extending of my time to him, even though it'd be a great slight to him, just so he can live on a bit longer to finish another piece of his work.
great tribute to a great man, thank you for making this.
Im a christian and a fellow Brit but I Liked Chris and admired his Honesty! Rip Chris
...topher.
Fantastic tribute, well done. "You should have me on more often and tell me what you think".
This was a beatiful tribute, thank you!
the tranquil consciousness of an effortless superiority
It’s from Hitchens debates that we’re able to get an idea of what an intellectual he was. He was wonderful and I only wish he had lived to be 95yrs old! Had I ever had the chance to meet him I would have told him I was born not that far from Florida Missouri.
Wonderful!!
Thanks. The song is 4Hero - Conceptions and the photo is from Collision, a film Hitch made with Douglas Wilson.
That last guy got owned.... so hard.
@VivaHitch Hahaha no tinnitus here. I swear there is a weird vocal echo around the speakers, but it sounds better today for some reason. Great tribute! I had to watch it again for a second time just to be sure ;)
As a rule, I don't mind music in a tribute video, just not when it makes it difficult to hear the spoken word. This music drowns out certain speakers, especially SF
Another tribute to Hitchens has part of the soundtrack to “Little Miss Sunshine” and I thought it was perfect.
@pottbank I'm glad you liked the tribute and shall make a hardcore trance remix forthwith..
“You must have me on more often so you can tell me what you think!”
this video made me cry, something am not familiar with..
What a shame - i can't listen to it - the "music' in the background ruins it.
Great tribute, but I would love it if you could cut out that audio distortion. Loved the music!
Great tribute to a great man. But may I trouble you for the name of the song that starts at 1:28, and the context of the picture at 0:42? Thanks in advance.
@VivaHitch
I can hardly hear whats being said because of the music as some of the clips don't have a clear audioquality
did i miss something youre a fan enjoy
Chris had deep remorse over his lies and hate groups he created. That's why he converted to Christianity before he died. Good for him!
I thank you for this also except the music was way too loud. I did like the soft piano at the beginning. It felt appropriate. But let there be silence while this brilliant man is talking.
"he was pretty smart, but he changed his mind about many things."
Swap the word 'but' for 'because,' surely.
It Never Entered My Mind by Miles Davis
My problem with this was that the music was too loud in comparison to the rest. Otherwise great job.
get rid of that damn music in the background - what a ridiculous idea - otherwise - thanks.
Actually, I really believe this is a terrific question. I am sure you agree that not all that Hitch debated were cranks (most, yes!). I sincerely believe it was always a subconcious need to be utterly stripped of the nonsence that they held too (I am thinking of Hitch's debates with Al Sharpton). It is almost a reversion to a child like state:"Beat the shit out of me, please!" He was an alpha figure on many levels. Intellectual thought was of the greatest aspect of his character.
Don’t just take the words of our leading intellectuals about Hitch find out for yourselves by listening to his debates. Only in this way do you get an idea to the depth of his knowledge.
Why not just the beautiful words of Hitch instead of any music at all?
I must go write.
im guessing youre a real fan i diagree but to each their own
It was with Stephen Fry. The Blasphemy Debate.
good but music is too loud and distracting. The winged words of Hitch are enough.
Which god?
I must be honest and say the video would have a better effect without the interfering music track.
God is Light, if you understand what the bible is saying, you'll realize that it is all true. we are rebels ,lost. We (mankind) are now in the dark, unable to see evidence for the existence of God. God sent a Light, Jesus, to save us and show us the way. Call upon Jesus and He will give you Light to see God. If you are depressed or sad or feel lost, you can call on Jesus and be saved.
Do fuck off
wow did he cure cancer broker peace in the middle east or was he an amusing writer of articles books who died too soon condolences to his family and friends but this eulogy is a bit much
Amis was his lover.
IconsOfTeleplay no he wasn't, they both talked about it but carry on
Why does Hitchens attract cranks?
This would be a fine tribute without the bloody irritating music!
LOL
....yes...I say Saddam's regime should still be in power too.
Chris led some down the wrong path. His hatred toward the Lord of Glory is sad.
Randy Pacchioli You are what is sad. Trying using your mind.
Randy Pacchioli Where did you get the idea that something that does not exist should be hated? Think about it. Hitch hates stupidity and ignorance - that's it. Everyone should. You believe because you were brought up to not ask questions.
Airbloom Amplifiers Four decades of asking questions, researching, and critical analysis has led me to the same spot. I see the truthfulness of the Christian faith even more so today. God bless in the journey.
Randy Pacchioli Your need to believe is all that is true for you. Therefore you live a lie without knowing it; maybe. Maybe Jesus will return and send me to hell. But no, that won't happen.
Randy Pacchioli His name is Christopher Hitchens and he will never be forgotten.
awful writer awful appearance awful attitude awful person
Great Tribute, music is terrible.
