Wow, barely more expensive than my Timex that isn't even all steel. Escapement Time continues to provide amazing value.
Probably best $50 watch on sale. A lot of people are going to buy this watch. Although I’ll still pay $150 for sapphire, automatic movement, and a bracelet. Great review as usual.
ET is the best value in watches. I have a few and they are amazing. This field watch looks great. I have no problem with mineral glass.

I was looking at buying the Hamilton but struggled convincing myself to part with a fair bundle of cash for it. I came across the escapement time version as per video and made the purchase. What a fantastic watch ( I am usually bit of a watch snob with cheaper watches ) and well chuffed with it. I don’t feel embarrassed wearing it, it looks great and feels comfortable to wear all day. The quality is bang on and don’t even mind the “ CHINA MADE “ at bottom of dial. The only thing I have swapped out is the strap for a better quality Zulu Khaki strap. I may still buy a Hamilton at a later date but to be honest I don’t feel the need to anymore.
That's great. I love my Hamilton, but I probably wouldn't have it had this watch come out a year earlier. Enjoy it!

They clearly did the good choice with the movement. And can't complain about the mineral glass for a 50$ watch.
It's a shame about the branding on the dial, but not a deal breaker imo.

kind of crazy how close they got. i can see a difference in dial quality, but it's not THAT much of a difference. hard not to recommend it for a $300 savings
I'd happily pay 10-15 more for sapphire and drilled lugs, but i love the VH31 movement. I hope Seiko releases one with a date complication
Clear vinyl lens protector....like you buy for your cell phone...is the answer. Gives you the best of both worlds....retains the shatter-resistance of mineral ( vs sapphire), and gives you the scratch resistance of sapphire ( over mineral glass). And you buy a custom-cut pack of 3 for cheap. Re-apply every few years....
Just received mine. Weights like a Hamilton. The strap is not the best but it looks nice, it feels rigid. Wears very well, size is just what it is supposed to be for a field watch. Lume is missing on numbers but there is in the hour markers. Nice domed glass. AR is for real, you won't get reflections. I noticed numbers are a little much larger than those in Hamilton and you can notice them as the dial looks more crowded. Very happy with my watch. It arrived in just 10 days to Mexico City.

For field watches and divers, mineral crystal is better for serious users. For mere mortals like most of us, sapphire is the preferred choice

Greetings from Serbia. I received it yesterday and confirm that it's killer watch for the price. Strap is good but you did not mention that the strap buckle has three micro adjustment holes for better fit. I am glad that I bought it, it seems that it is already discontinued, no more available.

That's a killer deal. Great movement choice. Needs sapphire with a small bump in price. And they need a new logo for non dress watches.
That is sooooooooo similar! I have this on Order and I also have a Hamilton Field Watch. Hamilton comes out for special treat. I think this will be my go to. Sapphire would be nice but...I'm getting it delivered all in for £50. Good review.

This watch is a winner. I always wanted a khaki, but they’re so overpriced now. Awesome movement- perfect grab and go. You’re exactly right- they put a sapphire in it, they’d sell a gazillion.
Then choose the Militado brand...almost identical but sapphire....costs maybe $65-$80.
It looks nice, but a person can buy essentially the same type of watch with an NH35 movement and sapphire crystal for about the same money from Tandorio or Addiesdive.
Nice review, as always. This one seems like another nice watch from this brand, but the one thing that keeps preventing me from buying Escapement Time watches is that logo that looks more like an old lady's parfume instead of a man's watch. I'm a graphic designer, maybe that's why I'm so picky regarding to branding.

Without a doubt a screaming deal, not put off by the crystal at all but the lug to lug seems a bit long for a watch of this size. PLEASE Seiko give us a date complication on the VH31, there's a lot of very good watches waiting to be made great.
The Hamilton looks awesome on the leather nato, great comparison and review! 👍I recently got the Escapement Time White Khaki and I love it. The only thing that annoys me though is the triangular lume pips don't have the black outline like on the original Khaki. It affects the feeling of the dial, the hands are not pointing at anything solid or substantial just a faint yellow smudge, whereas everything about the original dial feels sharp, crisp and high contrast with better legibility.
Yeah, sadly I think the black dial is the way to go...doesn't look premium when really looking at the dial, but the white just seems off without the borders.
Sold out ATM. You took the words out of my mouth. I'd happily spend an extra 20 for sapphire. that being said, I'll still have my eye on this. Great gift piece too, especially as a horological intro with that "high beat" quartz.
yup, they went really fast. ~110 sold in about 2 weeks. they'll be back, though.

There is an additional cost, yes, but what you can do with mineral crystal is give it a cheap car ceramic coating onto it, helps with scratches

Personally I like the branding on this escapement time a lot. It's somewhat out of the box for this kind of watch. A nice contrast with the 'field' denomination.
Chinese watch prices show just how inflated western watch prices are.

Totally agree with what you've said about the colors, I know they prefer to do mass production to cut costs, but I think they should do another colors, especially red

The difference I can see is the space between the spring bar and case which makes wearing a two piece strap way better than the hamilton so you don't get that huge gap from the strap and case 😊 but other than that its a gorgeous no nonsense watch i would pay more for a sapphire crystal and a smaller crown... but seeing that its paying homage to the hammy ill take it as is 😂
completely agree...I was excited to throw straps at the Hamilton...but then I noticed the GAP. pass-through it is...lol.
the ET is much nicer in that area.

crown is not centered in middle, but on khaki it is.
Is the horse shoe shape of the reflection maybe caused by the upper and lower surfaces of the crystal not being perfectly parallel? Or maybe better put, the thickness of the crystal isn't consistent from the middle to the edges?
I think ET did a good job on this watch. I'd prefer no logo, but that's really my only gripe. I'm looking forward to the review on that Baltany, too. Thanks for the review!
Definitely possible. It's just very odd. I've had so many watches over the years and never saw something like this before

Recall too ( as to movement)...that the VH31"specs" out to be +/- 15 seconds a month....a lot like most other quartz movements that "spec" out to about the same , or even +/- 20 seconds a month.....when in "reality" most do much better like +/- , 4-6 secs / month. This assures less "complaints" from people if for some reason it gets to be a little worse than 4-6 seconds. The Hamilton at 8x the price specs out to +/- 60 sec/month...... like most good mechanical watches....certainly Rolex Superior Chronometer is spec'd to +/- 60 secs / month.

Its very hard to compare any field watch to the hamilton in my honest opinion. Its the godfather of field watches but i think escapement time have done a fantastic job on making a similar homage piece for the money theyre selling them for.... fraction of the hamilton....

There is a new H0301 and H0302 model on the field watch line. They actually looks way much better, the specifications are the same (size, glass, movement, water resistant, etc), but having better dial, with lumed numbers. Would you review them too, when you have time or opportunity?
For clarity.... please describe where you see models H0301 / H0302. Can't find these models anywhere.
It's SO good to see a nice looking field watch with a DECENT movement and not a crappy nh35.

Agreed. It's an ugly font - a bit like the old San Martin logo. The 'China Made' writing at the bottom of the dial is also a bit unfortunate; obviously all these cheap watches are made in China, but it's not something I'd really want emblazoned on the dial almost as if it's a badge of honour like Swiss or Japanese made.

My arrived today. Im very impressed with this watch. Looks like 250$ watch. Quality is very good. Colors on dial and case are stunning. Dimensions are perfect. I don't like strap but this is not problem because you can change easly on whatever you want. This watch have some cons but for money is very nice. I'm in shock how fast this watch sold out.

The only thing wrong is the logo in the old english font. Does not go with the rest of the dial. Sholuld have left it withouth a logo !

Eh, maybe a little long. You could look into the Militado. It's 36mm and a few mm's shorter. Should be of similar quality
@@EscapeWheel I've looked at it, but in the country where I live, there is a 92% tax rate for goods over 50 dollars, and the militado unfortunately surpasses it, but this one does not. I guess I will need to hit the gym more often to be able to wear this watch. lol

How do the two compare for accuracy?
I mean, the quartz will always be more accurate. However my Hamilton is running amazingly well. Close to 0 seconds dial up

"Escapement", just get rid of time. And it will already be better without designing a logo or anything.
There is a better option. The tandorio 39mm automatic 200m sapphire
I had that one. It's also good. I prefer the thinness of this one. Also automatic vs quarts will sway some buyers.
