At present I would recommend this inexpensive Chinese watch over the Hamilton. I owned two Hamilton Khaki watches. The one that was quartz had a sapphire crystal that broke on its own (believe or not). The one with the Swiss ETA mechanical movement stopped working after two years of gentle wear. Thank for your review.

I was just researching the Hamilton khaki 38mm today, and this video popped up in my recommendations.
I just want to say "Thanks!" for doing what many watch channels don't do, and that's stating your wrist size. I also have a 6 1/2 inch wrist, so seeing this watch modeled on the same size wrist makes this video very useful to me.
I didn't know about this homage, but it seems too good to pass up for the price. I'm pretty sure that I'll be going for the Hamilton though.

I bought this watch to see if I would like the Hamilton enough to pay the price for it. I actually love this little cheap Chinese watch. I will most definitely be getting the Hamilton, but this one will sure be on the wrist a lot till then. Thanks again for watching.

@@beardedwatchman1384 ..lets be clear... "Chinese watch" with Japanese Seiko "guts"....nice sweeping quartz movement. Recall....even what used to be "fully Japanese" watches, today, may have final assembly of "their" watches done in Philippines or China....so don't just say "Chinese watch".... implying "cheap". This watch is super and punches well above it's price point.

Amazing....let's pay 10x the price of this and get maybe 60 sec accuracy per month with the "proper" Hamilton, instead of maybe 6 sec/month with a good quartz movement. All for "history" and "homage". That's ok, but I don't get it........

Just got one yesterday. The best I could come up with on the clasp is that it holds spare spring bars 🤷‍♂

I just bought one of those from Ali...I've been looking at the Hamilton Khaki Field mechanical for a while but cant justify the price tag (650 euro for the 38mm,750 for the 41mm). For a wind only movement in such a simple watch is too much, plus i havent heard good things about it, i've encounter folks that had them fail and service was expensive. I much prefer abusing a 55 euro watch that looks the same than a finicky expensive one.Maybe i buy a Hamilton in the end or maybe i like this cheap one so much and call it a day. Thanks for the video.

VH31 is a great movement, happy to see more watches using it, but I wish, wish _wish_ it had a date function. IMO, no watch should be without a date function. If this is supposed to be some everyday, muh rugged, tOoL wAtCh, a constant companion, then it really needs to have a date. It's a fundamental function right up there with being a time telling tool watch.

Did originals have the date function? I always wondered about this.

@@bigriceburner Field watches? No. Those were also smaller than 38mm, too, so I don't see a reason why that functionality aspect of the watch cannot also be modernized.

My only criticism is the logo. It looks a little frilly for a field watch to me. I wish they offered a sterile version like Tandorio does.

Nice, but personally, I would rather buy this particular military design from a brand that actually has a history of issuing this watch to soldiers, I.e. Bulova, Benrus, Hamilton, or Timex. And if I am pressed for cash, then I’m going with the Bulova or Timex.

Understood. I have multiple watches and use to be the same way. The reason I like this guy is the movement and not being worried about messing it up.
