  • In this video, we are going to talk about the current issues with Toyota some say it's not even the same brand as it used to be the quality has gone down and prices have gone up and issues are all over the place with new Toyotas and some say, greed has just completely taken over the company. They use more plastic than ever and to be honest, the build quality it's probably the lowest it's ever been yet the prices are the highest they're gonna have a really rough time selling these overprice Tacoma and tundras.

I was just at a Toyota dealership yesterday for only the second time for my 25 year old Tacoma (original owner). Anyway, I went there for them to replace my spare tire lift mechanism. The part was $101. The final bill was $607! But while I was there I noticed the dealership had scores upon scores of employees milling about in the parts/service area. I mean ALOT. But when I went to the sales area, there were literally no customers. NONE. The sales staff were texting on cell phones and just chatting with each other. I went outside to see the new Tacomas and the prices are outrageous. $55,000-$62,000 for a Tacoma? And it is ugly to boot. After paying my ransom to get my truck back, I figured that's how the dealership is paying its bills, by soaking repair customers with excessive pricing and making all they can from the one or two trucks they sell in a day or week. How do you afford a car payment for what can be used to add an extension to your home? I cant speak for the quality of today's Toyotas but my 99 Taco is a keeper but I would never buy a new Tacoma today

If you option to a normally option SR5 your over 45K without power seats too. I paid 36K for my 2021 SR5 4X4 predator edition. That`s a 9k jump. Normally it`s around 1k increase per year. So, in reality a SR5 previous optioned version should be around 39k with the predator edition. Their doing a Dodge thing (greed) and look what happened to the Ram. I`ll go get a loaded Colorado and get a better optioned vehicle for cheaper. Every Tacoma owner I know says heck on them, their overpriced now with a 4 cylinder. Also look at resale on them now. They don`t have it anymore. Now, I know why they waited so long to put out the price out on them. I believe this is all in the time frame when they got a new CEO like dodge. Maybe they need to take a good look at dodge and how they are trying to get out of situation? Their also doing the add on thing too big time. Yeah, just buy used single owner Toyotas from the passed 15 years and you will be good. Just bought a 2009 Highlander (made in Japan) with one owner and 100,000 miles, 3.5L V6 4WD. It will probably last me 10+ years. New vehicles are garbage.

Your best bet if you want a Tundra, Taco or 4Runner, go out West and buy a used one that is rust free. In 2022 I drove from Pa to Denver and bought a 07 high mileage 213,000 Tundra 4x4 Limited for 16,000. I drove it home, 1250 miles without a hitch. I had a FULL maintenance done and now sit at 252,000 miles. Thing runs like a top. The 3UR-FE is one of the best engines ever made, and my all in investment was right around 20K when you include the maintenance. I will have this truck until they plant me in the ground.

I would not underestimate the Nissan frontier with the naturally aspirated V6. It’s a very good truck very reliable. I have an older model Nissan frontier that I have been driving for 11 years and 160,000 miles and no issues whatsoever none. The prices on the Nissans are a little high, but they’re a lot more bearable. You can even get a pro 4X with a electronic locking differential if that’s your thing. If you’re strict with the maintenance on these trucks, there’s absolutely no reason that the truck can’t last 200,000 300,000 miles.

If the Tacoma is gonna be made in Mexico, then it should be a lot cheaper especially with the turbo 4 banger. For its price point it should be made in Japan or in America where both countries build their products with quality and it should also have a V6.

Whether you can afford it or not, the price for the new version is a complete rip off - you could buy two of them 5 years ago for the price of just one today!

I think it's interesting that the only thing that matters to auto manufacturers today is "MPG" and "Emissions", not longevity. Sure, MPG might be improved, but how much waste and pollution goes into making more vehicles because the new ones don't last? When you see an old Toyota Tundra from the early 2000's that is still on the road with 300,000 miles and counting, just think about how much pollution and waste from manufacturing was saved because someone is still able to own and drive that truck today. I think a huge source of pollution are these EV's and I don't believe that an EV made today will be on the road in 10-15 years.
