I'm gonna miss this guy. I'm sure Kiki will be great but this guy was a key member that helped keep the band alive and bring them back into their prime again in the last few years.
He contributed so many cool soundscapes and effects added to their songs that add so much atmosphere during live shows that really added to the thrill of them.

the first album is a JCM800 with KT88 tubes cranked to hell and back, boosted and EQ’d with an A/DA MP1 Preamp. Siamese Dream is the same JCM800, set to clean, with an Op Amp Big Muff set to destroy. Both albums have an insane amount of layering (at least 6 rhythm tracks per guitar, so 12 total, and then more for colouration), but that’s the core sound.

If the Pumpkins stuck to sounding like Gish/Siamese Dream all the time, all you’d need is a big muff, some modulation and a delay (for rhythm and clean stuff, solos are a different story).

I wish I could agree with the idea that having 1,000 different sounds is a positive thing. To me it only seems to get in the way of songwriting. If your purpose is to make the guitar sound like the wind howling on a distant planet in space then I guess this is your thing. But if your purpose is to write songs all of this extra sound is just a distraction.
