I watched this when you posted it, and it really resonated with me and gave me the kick I needed. I’ve since tried to switch my mindset from consumption and treating myself constantly to saving and investing, it frightens me how much I spent on perfume last year. (First year of getting into fragrance ) I’ve been trying to watch less perfume content and more financial content, I’ve started recording what I spend for accountability. It’s really helped…so thank you!
The first year can take you on a rabbit hole!! The same thing happened to me! I'm also getting into finance and want to get into investing! I'm kind of intimidated so far 😬 I'm glad we are on the journey together! Please feel free to share any advice, tips or things that have worked for you!
Beautiful makeup, you are gorgeous!!! Love the new focus of the channel, not "drastic, 100%, now i am an extreme minimalist". Instead, "let be conscious about the amount of perfumes we buy, but still talk about our pashion, which is perfumes and beauty". Thank you
I’m taking Jan and Feb-regroup/buying nothing. Paying bills, paying down debt, small home improvements March and May - I can buy one perfume each of these months-birthday and Mother’s Day and enjoy any celebration activities Then the fall is my weakness because I like warm and spicy scents but still limiting this as well to 3 or 4. Handbags- will get a a new one on my Europe trip in the fall. Beauty is easy- I stopped hoarding makeup years ago. Rarely use it. I just replace skincare during the Sephora sales.
That's an excellent plan!! Best of luck with all of your goals! I recently started dabbling into makeup again and it quickly got expensive so I need to set some limitations before it gets out of hand.
I share so many of the spending tendencies you’ve brought to light! I haven’t added-up what I spent on perfumes over the past couple years I’ve been collecting, and I’m not sure I really want/need to see what that number is. However, that said, moving forward I’d like to take the time to learn of the perfumes I’ve collected which ones I want to keep & use, v declutter & sell. And, not that I really want to go thru the hassle of selling them (a how-to video would sure help - hint, hint😉!) but, I’d potentially like to use the $ from selling them as my budget to buy more. Because, at this point, I have collected quite a few & the idea of adding more gives me anxiety.
I have a video on selling perfumes coming up soon! I have definitely funded my perfume purchases with same money from selling some. I think all of 2023 that's how I funded my purchases and lately I spend that money on makeup and other things for myself. Definitely getting into selling them is motivating to get rid of what you don't want. It's money sitting on our shelves.
I wish to refocus my standing away from parfum: need to add a Merit eyeshadow, a Victoria Beckham Kajal, a new sofa, awnings for the house and new sheets. Argh!!!!
You may have saved me from pulling the trigger on my shopping cart. I feel a little like you do when it comes to spending. It’s a constant struggle. I was doing so well until the holiday sales.
Those Holiday sales just mess with my head too! 😫 I get into shopping mode and keep going and going. Try No Spend January with me! To Detox from that. I'll be talking about avoiding shopping more soon.
Happy New years ❤ you set the goals and that’s the start! I’m glad you are sharing the journey with us, this will definitely encourage others who struggle to follow 🤗
I’m doing this too. I have to buy some things for our bathrooms (we totally redid one over the last few weeks ourselves and have been doing a bit to update our second one while we’re at it) and that’s it. Only stuff for finishing those up. No personal items for myself at all in January is my goal. Then for the rest of the year I am planning to only buy something personal after I talk to my husband and bounce it off him. That will provide accountability and I told him how awful I’m feeling about my perfume purchasing. I don’t care much for clothes, shoes, or bags and rarely buy cosmetics anymore (used to buy tons of makeup then switched that addiction to perfume like so many people). I totally get the “switch” of the addiction. We are working on updating our house so I plan to spend some money on that but only after talking to my husband and having a plan etc.
That's great to ask your husband for help to help you stay on track! I was a addicted to beauty products years ago too and recently while trying to distract myself from perfumes, I started buying beauty products. Since I got rid of my old stuff I started to research and buy a little too much. It's not a problem but I can see it becoming one if I don't put a stop to it. I'm getting back into eyeshadows and palettes and you know how that be! 🤪 I need all the colors!
I needed this! I’m totally with you. My niece has a birthday on the 11th but other than that, I need to cut myself off now. I can relate to everything you said. Happy New year friend🫶
Haha! Yes, we have yet to paint all the trim my husband installed (he’s a highly skilled carpenter but we aren’t painters, haha!) when we bought this house almost 6 years ago. So i definitely agree with not adding to rooms that aren’t finished.
I'm trying a low buy on all areas of spending this year, but my biggest problem is buying fragrances. I'm still allowing myself to ask for them as gifts like for christmas, b-day etc.
I walked past Fendi and DG on my way to return a pair of boots. Finally, after a million years, I realized something was absurd. How can I fall in love with a perfect pair of tennis and in 2 weeks, Fendi has yet another even more attractive pair? Absurd! I am not a sheep.
Currently I have 88 perfumes, mists, creams with a few coming for my bday. Goals; If I could finish 20 that would spark joy. I want to do a perfume try at least monthly. Do a perfume low buy? I mean if I see a treasure at Burlington. Burn my candle collection and wax melts.
Those last hurrahs are dangerous! Lol. I always over do it right before I go on a no buy. I instead got a bunch of makeup because I still felt the urge to shop. I think makeup is cheaper than perfumes but there's even more variety. Best of luck with your goals this year!
I bought two perfumes from VS SAS sale and went back yesterday to return them I felt so so good returning those perfumes im healing my addiction. Im realizing I got influenced by the youtubers who bought the perfumes and I unsubscribed from her channel. I also want to do a no buy January to detox. Want to enjoy what I already have
Awh I'm so proud of you for returning it!! I also tried to return my last purchase but they didn't let me. Lol. It was Valentino Pink PP. I didn't even open it. 😕 It was too expensive and it's not my favorite type of fragrance. I have it listed for sale instead because I'm also trying to heal the addiction! Best of luck to you on your goals this year! You inspired me to do a video about perfume addiction! Coming soon.
Super excided! 👍😊love to see your journey, it's so inspiring to me. I try to buy no full bottles only stick to my fragrance subscription for 15 euro so I can try some fragrances and for my birthday I can wish a full bottle and Christmas 2. I love your thoughts on things you love and yes even you repeat taking about them it's even more fun because then you really love them .And I will also focus to give love to the parfums and things I have and appreciate there value and beauty ❤
Absolutely, we can neglect the perfumes we have for the ones we want. I plan on making a video on how to distract ourselves within our current collection to keep from buying more. Fragrance subscription sounds like a great way to still smell something new without spending too much. I found I lost desire for a full bottle if I own the decant and not even get through it.
@CarmenScentrix yes and I shareware a promotion code from my subscription and now I have the upcoming 9 month 50% of so a subscription for 7,50 euro. I can cancel monthly. But for me a good way to keep myself from buying any perfume and stil can explore. Mostly 8ml is more than enough! Mostly the expectation are higher. The goal is to finish en really focus on what I already have and love. You are doing great 👍 🥰
I am investing in my home this year as well. We are doing the kitchen, painting and possibly the floors. So my no buy/low buy is a focus so I can save for this. And I also won’t buy any decide until it’s finished. I can deal with what I have.
I just started to go through old makeup and need to throw out a ton like you mentioned. Most I bought a few years ago and man, shows me how much I wasted in that addiction. Ok I need to stop commenting but basically ditto, we’re totally on the same page. Haha!
I love that we're basically on the same page about everything!! I started to do the math of the timelines of my makeup and oh my goodness it was old!! Things that felt newer to me were actually purchased over 5 years ago! I decided to let them all go, even powders because I don't want to get break outs or an eye infection.
My birthday is in March and I already got my BD perfume from October. Didn't get any after that until a few days ago I got Nebras in a 20ml bc it was restocked and I did intend to buy it. Done again for awhile.
@@CarmenScentrix broke my no buy March 23rd, got 2 cheapie that was already on my list. One i got last year but never received it in the mail and the company didn't resolve it, nor pay pal even though i have proof it appeared to have gone to the wrong location

A 5 new parfum goal is genius. Setting a limit that evokes self-respect (depending on each person's path) is perfect!
