If you have not tried this recipe, I highly recommend that you do. What a fantastic recipe!!!!! Been craving this for a while now. My husband helped with this as I had foot surgery and need to be non weight bearing for 6-8 weeks. This sure hit the spot. Everything about it is A++++++++!!!!!! The house smelled amazing! Managed to get 9 dumplings out of the batter and have enough for 3 meals. Told my husband, two dumplings for him and 1 for me.
WOW! Brittany Jaroudi, you hit it out of the park on this one. This recipe is truly AMAZING!!! Comfort food all the way but it's healthy. Only thing I did different was added chopped celery. DELISH! House smells amazing as well. 😋😋😋😋😋
WOW, WOW, WOW! Talk about comfort food!!! This is such a fantastically, amazing recipe and was created by Brittany as it was one of her mom’s favorite dishes at The Cracker Barrel. 🙏❤ It is so good to have on the last few cool days here. I doubled the broth recipe and spices used in the stew, and added extra potatoes and added celery. When I added the 9 dumplings on top, the pot was filled right to the top. I ended up putting a cookie sheet under the pot in the oven and it did drip over. Plenty of leftovers……. And the leftovers seems to be better the next day or so as everything blends in together.😋😋😋😋😋
Fall is in the air. My favorite time of the year. Time for soups and stews. The dumpling stew recipe is FANTASTIC! It’s so easy to make. You cook it on the stove top for approx. a 1/2 hour and then move it to the oven for 1/2 hour. If you live near a Trader Joe’s, this time of year they have a cute container of Herbs de Provence which comes with a little wooden spoon attached. As it’s cooking in the oven, your whole house will begin to smell HEAVENLY! This was cooked in a 7 1/2 quart size dutch oven. I added an additional 1/2 recipe amount of the broth and extra spices. The dumplings came out perfect. 😋😋😋😋😋
This recipe is a MUST recipe to make!! This is such a wonderful recipe. It was one of Brittany's mom’s favorite dishes at The Cracker Barrel. I always double the broth and add extra onion, carrots, parsnips and potatoes. This time I used colored potatoes and colored carrots which added some color. The house smells amazing while it’s cooking. It’s cooked in a 7 1/2 quart Dutch oven which does tend to overflow a bit while cooking so I put a drip pan in the oven. I love having this as a leftover as it’s even more delicious as the Herbs de Provence melds with all the other ingredients. Mmmmmm, mmmmm, DELISH!!!!!! 😋😋😋😋😋
I have 2 suggestions that might work. Blend white beans and miso into the stock in a Vitamix to make creamier and then you can still add more beans or chick peas. Add miso into cashew and plant based milk to blend easier.
LOVE this recipe!! I made an extra 1/2 of the recipe. It's easy to make. You put all the ingredients in the pot and cook on the stovetop for a 1/2 hour and then you add the dumplings and cook the whole pot in the oven. The house smelled amazing while it cooked. It was cooked in a 7 1/2 quart Dutch oven. I love having this as a leftover as it’s even more delicious as the Herbs de Provence meld with all the other ingredients. Mmmmmm, mmmmm, DELISH!!!!!! Thank you Brittany!
I love this time of the year as it’s time for soups and stews. This dumpling stew recipe is just AMAZING!!!! It’s so easy to make as it’s cooked on the stove top for approx. a 1/2 hour and then moved to the oven for 1/2 hour (I wait until I see the dumplings start to brown a bit on top). Ohhh, the smell of the Herbs de Provence!!! Your whole house will smell HEAVENLY! The stew was cooked in a 7 1/2 quart size dutch oven (which is heavy so my husband always places it in and out of the oven). I added an additional 1/2 recipe amount of the broth and extra spices. I used rainbow colored carrots and a trio of small colored potatoes and parsnips along with 2 1/2 cans of cannellini (added an extra 1/2 can). The dumplings came out perfect! It’s so mmmm, mmmm good!!!! My husband gives this recipe an A+++++++++++++++😋😋😋😋😋
Yay! Missed you, but knew you were housebuilding & teaching. Yes, been there building. Just recently smalled down & built a 2BR 2ba cottage (big garden, still!) on an upper ridge of our property & big house will go up for sale, soon (upstate SC). And, yes, there are indeed LOTS of details & myriads of inspections!
Me again! I can't help it. This recipe gets an A++++++++++++!!!!!! I love this time of the year. Time for soups and stews. The dumpling stew recipe is AMAZING!!!! This looks yummy and very simple, two of my favorite things for dinner! I'm thinking I could drop the miso for the dumplings in the blender with the cashews and plant milk. It would mix quick and very completely! Thanks for a great recipe idea!
Congratulations! I’m so excited for you with everything going on especially the moving to the new house next year.. I missed you and I’m looking forward to make this recipe..
We are in the process of moving from Wyoming to Tennessee next month! Renting there while we have a house built! So I get it! With kids that we homeschool and 4 pets. 😬
Just made this last night and it totally hit the spot for some warm comfort food!! I used gluten free flour for the dumplings and added a but if oat flour until it got to the thickness of yours in the video and it worked out! Thanks so much for all you! Happy Holidays!
This is an awesome recipe! I really enjoyed making it...my hubby loved it as well....it is rustic, creamy, wonderful! Thank you! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
This looks amazing! I will be making this after the holidays for sure. Thank you for all your hard work, creativity, and encouragement. Happy Holidays!
Delicious recipe!!! I always double the broth and add extra onion, carrots, parsnips and potatoes. I like using colored potatoes and colored carrots which add some color. Happy holidays to you! That looks yummy! I usually steam my dumplings but I like the browning idea! Only thing... I have mobility issues and couldn't lift that huge , heavy pot empty, let alone full of sloshing stew, and wanted to see how you managed! LOL. My Instant pot is a lifesaver, I have it on a low stand so I can prep and cook sitting down and have learned to cook about everything in it!
Looks great! Happy Holidays to you both and all of your followers! Here’s to living the best life we can in a healthy, compassionate and sustainable way! ❤️
Mmmm....that looks so dope! I can't wait to try this :) UPDATE: Just made this today and OMGosh, sooooooo good! I used corn maseca flour for the dumplings and added celery in place of parsnips. Definitely gonna make this again :)
Dumplings are for me a comfort food and this recipe looks ideal for that week between Christmas and New Year I look forward to making it I like chop and drop recipes
Congrats on the New house that's coming. Would it be possible for you to link the large pan you're cooking in, I have one of the same color crockpot, but yours looks larger. Thanks!
This looks really delicious. Thanks for thinking of using grams in your recipes. Indeed you've provided a very thoughtful channel throughout the year, much gratitude for that. Happy holidays and best wishes for all your positive life changes. 🎅🏖🏝
This looks amazing and I definitely want to try it. I wonder if the recipe can be halved, because 1) I don't have an oven-safe pot that big; 2) I live alone and would never be able to eat that much before it spoiled; and 3) as another poster commented, I have arthritis and would not be able to lift such a heavy pot. Thank you for all you do, Brit. I appreciate your wonderful recipes and your sweet personality.
On the website post for the recipe at the bottom, I added links to a very similar pan. It does have a lid. newthejaroudifamily.com/recipes/dumplingstew
Brittany, I am freezing food prior to shoulder surgery to help my DH survive his caregiver role for the next 6 weeks! ;-) Can this dumpling stew be frozen without ruining the dumplings???
Hi Brit. Looks amazing. I have a question about miso VS using salt. I know you are SOS-free. But doesn’t miso have sodium in it? What is the reason for using miso instead of salt if you are looking to be sodium free?
Miso has sodium but because the soy is so protective it doesn’t have the same effect on the body as regular table salt. We still use it in moderation but the science says it’s a good alternative for adding flavor. You can do a search for on Nutritionfacts.org and miso for the research on it. ❤️
Just curious...do many of you still miss the salt? I have no problem with the sugar or oil, but am always disappointed after preparing so many recipes. I am new to Brittany's site, but see so many positive comments. Just wanted to get a few of your thoughts about how her recipes come across to those new to this WOE, please. This recipe LOOKS fantastic!
Hi Brit, a new home is so exciting! --- the building process, not so much! Feel your pain! Thanks for sharing your recipe. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Ohh this looks amazing!! I’m wondering if you have tried freezing this recipe? I’d love to try it but I live alone. I wouldn’t want to waste any as it looks so delicious!
@@TheJaroudiFamily I actually made it with tofu and it worked fantastically! Tofu makes a great nut-free substitute for cashews, even in blended recipes. ☺

Crackle Barrel made me chuckle! I’m in Ohio, we have Cracker Barrel here, not sure if they’re the same. The veggie stew looks amazing!

Love white beans. I Wonder if I could make this in my Ninja Foodie pressure cooker. This looks so good. I'd have to cut that in half.
Love your Dutch oven where did you get it and what size is it..can’t wait to make this too
HI Britney could I use dry fresh northern beans that I have cooked? how many cups would I use?

This looks delicious 😋 hope poultry seasoning is a good substitute for herbs de Provence because I can’t find it at my local grocer.
That would work 💕
Yum! Definitely going to try this. Leftovers: any special way of refrigerating them?...will the dumplings get weird?
They kept for 5-6 days perfect!
@@TheJaroudiFamily Do you think it would be a good idea to put the miso in with the cashews and milk so it gets blended thoroughly?
Brittany, I am freezing food prior to shoulder surgery to help my DH survive his caregiver role for the next 6 weeks! ;-) Can this dumpling stew be frozen without ruining the dumplings???
Looks great! Love these videos. New subscriber here. The soup or stew? looks so yummy.
It thickens up so we call it a stew - but either way works for me!
Can you substitute silken tofu for the cashews in the dumpling recipe?
Do you find you should keep the stew hot as you add the dumplings on top? From my memory, this is recommended ?? Great job! You are fantastic!
Generally, it is still hot right when the potatoes and veggies are fork tender I add them.
Can you share the brand and size of your pot?
Can u suggest a substitute for cashews?
I understand. I just moved to another state by myself. Whew.
What brand of vegetable broth do you use?
We make our own or I look for one that does not contain oil. We have a recipe for ours here: www.thejaroudifamily.com/post/easy-vegetable-broth

@@TheJaroudiFamily Would it be easier to add the miso into the blender so it is fully incorporated before you add it to the flour mixture?
