Hi I have purchased one of these helmets and have found the peak is adjustable Two positions Remove top centre screw pivot peak forward this reveals a rubber plug remove it and you will find another threaded hole
Tried this helmet out on a test ride, ZLA is correct, with the visor attached the helmet pulls your neck at 70+mph. So dual sport is limited but the fit is great and comfy. My test ride was on a naked bike. Nice breakdown ZLA!!!
The jaw vents are the only reason why I'm not buying this beautiful helmet... living in England you need something that's able to keep the cold out of your helmet as much as possible... Not being able to seal the front vents would probably just kill me over time... Great review.. thank you!
+Sean M The Bell MX-9 and MX-9 Adventure helmets are similar enough that it's probably not worth getting the Adventure model. I'd recommend just running goggles. -DrewZilla
RevZilla thanks Drew. I actually got to look at an MX-9 today and the only difference besides the shield is the front grill air vent thing can be closed off on the adv version where as the base MX-9 it can't. End game is to get a Sena to talk with some friends on longer rides but want to make sure they can hear. I may just tape those vents up for long rides and see if the mic doesn't pick up too much wind noise.
Like a dummy I bought the Bell MX-9 (non-ADV) for off-roading on my WR this spring before looking at all the options. Now that I have been doing some longer weekend trips I have been looking at the MX-9 ADV version. Besides the face shield, is there any other differences between the two? If not I would probably just run goggles and save myself the $200... or is the faceshield (and are there other differences/features?) worth another $200? Thanks RZ!
Brilliant review as always, I just wanted to ask if this helmet is usable without the visor and with googles instead, or maybe it would be a problem to reassemble the peak without the thickness of the visor below? Thank you
I have a 22” head, the chart for scorpion says I need an xl i immediately knew that was way off, so I tried one on today and I couldn’t get it passes my crown. I bought the bell mx-9 adv. In a 3x and it fits well. How much space is supposed to be between the front bar of the helmet and my chin?
For anyone looking to buy this. I have one and i crashed a while ago. I would have hit my head on a rock if it werent for this helmet and its still usable (i have battle scars though). I give 5/5
This is very true, this is the only type of protection that protects the most valuable part of your body. You can lose a leg and live, but how bout your head?
I am wondering your opinion between this Bell MX-9 Adventure and the Fly Trekker. I cant find any good comparisons between these two hats anywhere on the net. I am wondering which is more comfortable for all day riding? The Bell seems like to be maybe a bit better quality but there are some better features on the Fly in my opinion. I like that the fly has more than one adjustable vent on the helmet, help to stay warm when riding on cool days, also I like that you can adjust the angle of the peak by just loosening the nut instead of having to remove it like the Bell requires. Am I missing anything between these two? If you had to recommend one which would you choose? Thanks
+clbrown23 I personally prefer the quality of the Bell and haven't had any issues with the vents. If you do want more operable vents, though, then go with the Fly Trekker. -DrewZilla
Nice review as usual. I have a very low end Bilt brand helmet that I started on and really need a visor 'cause I just hate the sun in my face. I do however ride long stretches of highway and use a Sena. I had no issues installing my Sena on my helmet and managed to clamp it just fine, no ear pockets either. I do feel them but its not unbearable. Question, have you installed a com unit on these using clamping? Are you saying clamping is impossible due to the thickness? Also, regarding the visor at highway speeds, is it just noise and a bit of head movement induced by the sail effect, or are we talking head torquing nightmare when looking around? Thanks alot?
The only way to use a clamp would be to actually modify the trim and make an incision to allow the clamp to slide in-between the shell and EPS liner. However, most have no issues with the adhesive mounts Sena includes with their headsets. As for buffeting at speed or during head checks, you will see this to some extent with virtually every dual-sport helmet due to the peak visor and overall design. If you spend the majority of your time on-road, you may want to stick with a normal full face helmet. -TeamZilla AJ
I am looking for an adventure style helmet and this helmet looks really cool, but the Nexx XD1, although a little bit more expensive, seems to be much better. Is the price difference worth my money?
+João Almeida The Bell is a really great value, and they keep the cost down by using a more affordable polycarbonate shell. The Nexx is also good but has a higher price due to its expensive X-MATRIX composite shell. If you want the helmet to be a little stronger, a little lighter, and a little more compact, then the Nexx may be worth the extra cost. -DrewZilla
How similar is the fit to an RS-1? I have an RS-1 and I find that it has two pressure points on my forehead, so I most likely have a long oval head shape. Could you recommend a dual-sport or adventure style helmet that has a longer head shape other than the LS2 line of helmets?
They ever going to offer something in the RS-1 range in an adventure variant? RS-1 fit my head better than any helmet before or since, been waiting for a Dual-sport from Bell in that pricerange/quality.
I ride a KTM 950 daily to college, no highway but highspeed avenues, I occasionally offroad but not much, I don't have much time anymore, should I get this or maybe a Nolan N44 and a pure dirt helmet later on for off road days?
I'm completely new to motorbikes and have no idea what gear to buy and not look like an idiot. Would this look out of place on a honda hornet or suzuki bandit type bike?
I know a lot of riders that use adventure-style helmets on the street, but aerodynamics at speed will suffer due to the peak visor and general design compared to a normal full face. That said, if you are a new rider and need some help finding gear, I recommend contacting us directly at CS@RevZilla.com or 877-792-9455. One of our Gear Geeks would be happy to assist you! -TeamZilla AJ
I know this asking a lot but I would love to see what this helmet looks like with the two different gold face shields. For some reason I cant find any images online. This helmet is on my list for the new riding season, looking at the matte black but not sure if I should get it with the light gold or dark gold shield.
As a rule, we keep all our face shields in inventory unopened in their packaging. As we don't have any removed from the packaging, we unfortunately cannot provide any photos of the shields on the helmet. Additionally, once a shield has been removed from its packaging, it cannot be returned. I apologize for any inconvenience. -DrewZilla
Heavily debating this based on costs. I was ready to get a Shoei RF 1200 before seeing this. The MX 9 is exactly what I'm looking for. Only concern...does it work with the person who wears glasses? The RF 1200 has the pad cutouts. Anyone have any experience?
For wearing glasses with the MX-9 Adventure, it really depends on facial structure and the shape of the glasses frames. I personally can wear my glasses with this helmet, but the RF-1200 is much more comfortable for glasses. I recommend you consider the Scorpion EXO-AT950, as it is designed to accommodate glasses. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/scorpion-exo-at950-helmets
I don't understand the instructions from Bell for securing the helmet, I just thread the strap through both the D rings and back around through the first d ring, like you do with a lifejacket on a boat. It's still secure, but not as per the instructions.
You can use it on a naked bike, but having the peak visor means it won't be quite as aerodynamic as a standard full-face helmet. You can always wear the helmet without the peak though. -DrewZilla
This helmet does not come with the photochromatic shield, but we do offer that here: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/bell-mx-9-adventure-protint-photochromic-face-shield I hope that helps! -Zack

+Mr Wobbleknocker It depends which Nolan you have. The N104 is very narrow, whereas the older N103 and N90 were very round. The N86 and N91 are intermediate oval. If you have an N86 or N91, the Bell fits similarly. -DrewZilla
+Mr Wobbleknocker If you find you have room in the N90 or N40 helmets above your ears on the sides of the head, then you can probably wear the MX-9 Adventure helmet. -DrewZilla
Jason Culbertson I'm a pretty tough critic on gear (it's my job), but I was actually pleasantly surprised with the quality of this helmet. It's doesn't have a fancy composite shell, but making the shell from polycarbonate keeps the cost down, and there aren't a lot of mid-range dual sport helmets, so I think it fills a gap in the market. -DrewZilla
Hi I have purchased one of these helmets and have found the peak is adjustable
Two positions Remove top centre screw pivot peak forward
this reveals a rubber plug remove it and you will find another threaded hole
Putting it in the lower position will scratch the shield when its up. Ask me how I know
@@Holgrinator so that’s what the plastic pieces are for that come with the helmet?
@@Holgrinator Same here, learned about it the hard way
Also makes it more difficult to lower the visor.

Is it yellow like in bell webpage, or is it greenish like it looks on your video??
It's in between yellow and green under normal lighting, so it's not quite as green as it appears in the video. -DrewZilla

Thank you so much!
Hi , to add Bluetooth speaker does it has provision? And chin curtain ?
I usually find Bell helmets comfortable. I tried on lot of helmets recently, and they weren't great. The MX9 is. I must have an American head.
I have a 22” head, the chart for scorpion says I need an xl i immediately knew that was way off, so I tried one on today and I couldn’t get it passes my crown. I bought the bell mx-9 adv.

Great review! But I'm still debating on whether to get this, because the non-closing vents will get annoying whenever it rains!
same here... I will wait for the next version of this helmet. I'm sure they'll add closing vents.
when it rains you actually want vents open otherwise you fog up. the mouth vent on this helmet does close.
Tape.
For anyone looking to buy this. I have one and i crashed a while ago. I would have hit my head on a rock if it werent for this helmet and its still usable (i have battle scars though). I give 5/5
The protection of a helmet is compromised after an impact like that. You should really consider getting a new one.
This is very true, this is the only type of protection that protects the most valuable part of your body. You can lose a leg and live, but how bout your head?
Thanks for the post I just bought this helmet
What would you choose between the ls2 pioneer and this bell mx 9??
MX9 is bloody comfortable, all the other helmets were not. My old helmet was sometimes uncomfortable.
