I finally understand how you're actually a "104-year-old Englishman". You have to go into a hyperbolic time chamber to pass all the time it takes to dig out all that lino. I have never seen this process done before and I dig it a lot.
Studson, I've watched your videos. Considering your...ah...attention (read: obsession 😂❤) to detail, I'd love to see what you would do with lino printing!
I've got it, you could do your entire drawing in stop motion, so that the pencil floats and draws without your hands. Whatdyathink--couple hours to film and another couple to edit? Quick and easy video idea!
That music! Everyone loves to say they hate the music behind YT vids and I was ready to hate the music on yours but… it cracked me up and somehow I never got sick of it. It matches the general silliness of your style. Maybe I’ve lost it. Ha!!!!! (Many exclamation marks…maybe too few.)
Uncle Bill! FANTASTIC RESULT! And I actually like seeing you sketch! I enjoy your style of writing and drawring, so seeing you lay it down like a pro was a treat. ALSO... time-lapse is often times the best lapse. (P.S. I picked up on some RUclips video-maker grind frustrations. ;) You always make me smile.)

Forty years ago I was traumatised by lino cutting in school art classes, where we were given really hard lino to cut and semi-blunt tools, which combined to hurt our hands. We never ever got to finish them and see the end printing process, and the art class disappointment has bothered me all these years. Finally, I can see light at the end of the lino printing tunnel. This tutorial has provided healing and a way forward 🙂 Thank you very much. I'll be doing this with my home educated teenager.
This is so cool, takes me back to being at school, art was the only thing I enjoyed back then, oh as well as school lunches as my mum was a dinner lady lol =)

My dad does the whole sharpening pencils with a stanley knife. When I was a kid, he'd ask to borrow one of mine and it'd come back mutilated. Print looks so good, Bill! Super clean finish.
Wow, I remember doing this for an assignment in my high school art class. This is just stunning!! It's always cool to see sculpture artists draw super well, you never expect it for some reason. Just amazing work 🤩👏
Awesome video! Skills that are being lost over the dam computer. That's the cool thing about you Bill and your other compadres that have these videos of showing homemade terrain miniatures and other abilities that you've required through the years is all being lost on this new generation of instant gratification! please keep up the videos!!!
Can totally imagine this being a movie poster for a creature feature. The carving creates such an interesting texture, super cool process! Would love to see some more videos like this if you want to make them in the future!
I like to add a thin layer of acrylic paint, red or light blue, to the lino after sketching so you can see what you have carved. I love your vids, Bill. I have started gluing trash together, just like you!

I haven't done a lino cut since university. It's time consuming, but lots of fun. Nice tutorial, Bill! I don't mind a well used timelapse, not sure why that's an issue....
Hey Bill! Had an idea for the problem of cutting those baubles. Why don't you drill a series of holes along the line you want to cut, THEN remove the perforated piece? That's how in guitar manufacturing they create the control-cavity for all the wires and gubbins that makes it into a LOUD SHOUTY-THING! Happy Greebling!
Gotta say in your silly way you showed several very good tricks and techniques that go beyond the typical beginner Lino vids. How to reverse the lettering and the use of the clipboard for holding the paper down (although it looks like you’d need to be careful not to drag the paper across the block taking it out.) All in all fun and informative. Creative but close enough to the important techniques to work well.
If you can't get to your junk, you might want to think about getting looser underpants. I love the effect you get with lino-cuts, etc. It is so snaggly and gnarly. The Old Holborn tin really reminded me of my Dad's numerous tobacco tins full of screws, nuts, bolts, washes, cobs, etc.
Really cool Bill! I didn’t think it would be something I would find interesting, bit actually am very impressed! I like how it turned out. Like the reversal print for your lettering, very cool!
