Brilliant tutorial - got a set the other day and can’t wait to try it!
Have fun!
This was such a well presented tutorial- probably one of the best tutorials I’ve seen! Very friendly, well spoken and succinct with the information. Thank you so much, I now feel like I know what to do and it only took 20 minutes!
Thanks Elliot! That's so lovely to hear
Even three years later, it's still a great tutorial!
I thoroughly enjoyed that, I have ever only had one go at linocutting when I was in school, ( I am now 70 years old) I might just take it up again to complement my wood carvings.
Thanks so much for watching. I really hope you take up linocutting again!
You probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account??
I somehow lost the account password. I would love any tips you can give me!
@Derrick Emmett Instablaster =)
@Mordechai Brooks i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Mordechai Brooks it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account!
Excellent tutorial. I can get impatient with instructional videos but you kept me going right til the end. Your enthusiasm is wonderful. Thank you so much. LOVE the brushes ❤
That's so nice to hear, thank you
can't believe this was twenty minutes long, you're a great teacher. I swear it seemed like five, but so much helpful information
Thank you! That means a lot
What an absolutely brilliant tutorial. So clearly explained and demonstrated, thank you!
Very cool tutorial. I must admit I clicked because I wanted to see you carve the images in the thumbnail BUT I LOVED the paintbrushes! So helpful thank you ❤
We have a blog post on that project here: handprinted.co.uk/blogs/blog/using-different-tools-to-make-marks-on-lino?_pos=1&_sid=739e1c109&_ss=r
A terrific tutorial. Helped me decide how to start out. Comparison of tools and lino products indispensable. Thank you. Thank you.
Thanks, Pat!
What a clear tutorial. You are a natural teacher.
Loved this, thank you. Great instruction for someone who hasn't a clue how to lino cut ❤
What a lovely tutorial! Thank you for this. I’ve only done Lino once when I was quite little, but have been too intimidated to start. Immediately getting out my supplies and having a go at it now, so thank you!!!
I’m working on an enormous linocut project and videos like this are a great help in seeing the process through fresh eyes. Thanks!
That's great to hear, thank you!
Did you finish it?
the part on the brush is the 'ferrule' 🙂 lovely video and presentation very clear, well done. thanks
Just starting my journey down this fascinating path, and your video was not only informative but reassuring.
So glad we're able to help!
I haven't done this since...(cough)...1984, and am feeling the urge to have another go. I loved it, so am keen to try again.
Thanks for posting.
Great tutorial, knowing that the lino has to be fresh was really useful, thanks
This is such a great video! Clear instructions given in a video that is so satisfying to watch. I feel confident enough now to have a go with my new set! Thank you so much xx
Thanks Vicki! I'm so glad you're going to give it a go
Excellent introduction to linocut! Pleasure to watch and listen to the young competent young lady. Danke!
Thank you!
Thanks girl i just found this vid today and was looking for this medium but never new the actual name and there were doubts about the tools and paint thanks for clearing them, really appreciate this vid.
Thanks for this tutorial! The bits about the chatter/background, and how to plan that or utilize it, was really helpful.
Hands down THE BEST tutorial I've seen so far! Thanks for sharing this! I particularly enjoyed learning the terminology as well.
Oh wow! Thank you so much!
Absolute beginner here -- learnt so much from just one tutorial!
That's great to hear! Thank you
A delightful presentation. thank you so much.
thank you for this video! my friend showed me some lino prints he did at college recently and they looked really coom so I'm looking into getting a kit to make some myself:)
The way your hand moves with the tools is just amazing.🖤
Thanks Uday!
I just ordered £100 worth of your goods to take my carving to the next level. Love this! I ve just started again after years of not carving. I love it.
Thank you for your support! I'm so glad you've started linocutting again. We love it too!
Oh my ! £80 more today to start coloured layers! So glad I checked via the Artists and Illustrators article magazine and your shop was mentioned for the inks and tools :) I don’t ever buy on Amazon as I disagree with the billions of profit they make when they pay a smidgen in corporate tax but rely on our roads and public services ....ahem.
@@gayedavies2797 Thanks for supporting small businesses!
This is so clear and helpful. I was given a lino set for Christmas and now feel confident about using it.Brilliant.
That's great to hear!
Beautifully done tutorial. Beginner here, and will give it a go. Thank you for all the tips and I can listen to your voice all day!
Thank you!
I’m going to attend a beginners class in linocut tomorrow. This really gives me a leg up. Thank you.
Happy to help!
Look, before I even get into the video I want to give you big props for making a video this good on your phone. A lot of people get indimitated by not having the proper equipment for youtube, but you just make up for it with fantastic arcticulation of speech and great content. That's quality right there, rather than just having the right camera.
Thank you! We started making them at home in lockdown so it was very much use what you have!
Nice video! I like how you talk about creating intentional chatter that adds to the design.
Thank you! We love a bit of chatter
I was scared to get started but that was such a great video, I’m going to do it! Thank you
Thank you. We just started stamp painting in my art class.
Great tutorial! I'm a beginner and I learnt so much watching and listening to you.Thank you very much
Thank you. Your terminology and skill is top notch and I greatly appreciate your help. I haven’t Lino cut and printed since high school (21 years) and ive had the urge lately to try it again.
Thank you!
Thank you for this! Very helpful, and speeded up at the right places while still explaining everything.
So happy to help
The tip about holding your cutting tool differently to how you hold a pencil is actually super helpful! I always struggle to control my lines when I'm cutting lino and never thought about changing my grip.
So glad you found it helpful
nice work and example.
Thanks!
Just bought a kit and watching your video while doing my first print :) thanks for all the tips
Enjoy!
Thankyou for this video! I received a kit for Christmas but was apprehensive to start but this video has given me the courage to get started.
Thanks again!
Love your excellent teaching. I’m a wood cutter. Cannot be as precise as I’ve noticed with the linocuts. Have been too shy about trying Lino. Now with your teaching - I’m believing I’ll be brave and hooked for precision in the Lino. Thank you. And you are adorable ☺️
Before watching this vídeo, I feel Very difficult to work with linóleo I'd rather prefer woodcut instead, because I could Control the sharpness of the cuts better.
I'm Grateful for your generosity in explaining the details of this art.
You're just fabulous. 44 seconds in: "You may have a memory of using dry, crumbly lino at school; that stuff was _old_ ..."
Yes! That's _exactly_ the memory I have! So that's why it was always falling apart.... 😆
Am here to try to pick it up again a few decades later.
Liked, Subscribed, and am off to your shop with my credit card.😉
haha! Happy to have helped!
Awesome vid! Can't wait to get printing!!
I love crafts, not everything is my bag as you put it, but this i loved ❤ to watch. You have such a beautiful voice to listen to. 😊
Wonderful and thorough introductory lesson. Thank you!
Brilliant, thank you
Such a useful no nonsense tutorial! Thank you, very helpful 😊
This video is perfect for a beginner (like me!)... have bought a kit as wanted to have a try in winter lockdown but I've been too nervous to get it out... after watching this I am about to make a start. Thank you!
This helped me so much! Gotta order the right ink, I was planning to use acrylic 🤣 excited to try this again after doing it once at school years ago
Thanks for watching!
Have you ever tried natural pigmentos to make the Ink?
Excellent video! Thank you!
This was such a great tutorial! I am in a printmaking class for school and we’ve only gone over screen printing so far but I wanted to give lino block printing a try as well. Thank you so much for the awesome video!!!
Thanks for watching!
I really appreciate how short & comprehensive this guide was. The other most helpful guide I found was 7 videos long. That’s nice for clarity, but this simple & quick tutorial is so helpful & inspiring! Thank you!
Thank you for watching! So glad you found it helpful
Enjoyed every second of this! Can't wait to start my project!
Thank you for all that info and enthusiasm. I'm about to take the dive in!

Ah, thank you for explaining the "snap" with Lino. I used EZ Carve and was perplexed by how to best rid my tool of the waste just carved away. Excellent tutorial!
I enjoyed this very much. Thank you for all the useful hints, tips and recommendations too. I’ve never tried linocutting but am now inspired to have a go. Thank you again!

Really well explained tutorial - thank you very much! I received a lino cut kit for my birthday but I'm too afraid to open the box yet lol
Love it, I use those essdee paler rubbery tiles now as I like to keep them for years and years they seem to last without deterioration. either way they carve so much easier when hot I use to put them on the radiator for a bit :)
Such a brilliant video and commentary. I’ve had a kit for a while and now I’m really keen to try it out! Thanks
Have fun making your first linocut print!

Such a clear and concise and pleasant tutorial! Thanks so much, I'm about to take a deep dive into printmaking this upcoming year!
Great explanation. Thanks for the demonstration. Great tips too. I can't wait to try.
Thanks you r very informative informative.... without silly music in the background, refreshing.
Thank you, Cliff!
fantastic video, thanks so much! been doing relief printing at college (albeit with card instead of lino and using ballpoint pens instead of carving tools; works decently on a budget, but a pain in the ass for clearing areas LMAO) and want to use it for my end-of-year project, but wanted to give it a go properly with lino. looks so fun and pretty beginner friendly! off into town tomorrow to get some supplies, so i'll doubtless be back to this vid once i have!
I just came here because I'm interested in new kinds of art and I love your video it's very informative and easy to understand , my background is tattooing and more recently leather smithing, I think a "Lazy Susan" would be a great addition to your toolbox you could hold your chisels and spin the lazy susan for a better cut, just an idea maybe useful to you.
Yes, we have one of these! They're a little slippery for every day cutting but useful for curves
I enjoyed your lino instructions!
Thoroughly enjoyable and helpful tutorial, thank you!
This video was exactly what I wanted in an introduction/tutorial! Thank you!
Excellent video, informative and entertaining.
Easy to follow directions. Thanks
This video is delightful and informative. I've only ever cut a stamp out of an eraser before, but this is making me want to try something far bigger. Thank you for the excellent video!
