If you go in the week or early park at the lay by at Rock End. its a lot easier walk

Occasionally I take the top route, but I confess to liking the trees I see on the way up from the river. Depends on how much I want to put my knees through.

Nice video. Can you tell me where on the A54 you parked up. I am planning to visit the location but I am not able to walk very far. Thanks

There's a layby on the A54 the side of a tarmac road leading down to the gate. I can't tell you the exact coordinates as I don't know what they are and for the life of me I can't find them on Google! DON'T trust your Sat Nav, it will almost certainly lead you on a merry ride into the hills to a place where you can't park.
According to Google Maps (dropping a pin on it) the coordinates are 53.2148922, 2,0027569, if you can get close to that you are on a winner. Just copy those into Google and check the satellite view.

@@EddieSkelson Thanks very much. I will look at the coordinates.

Hi where did you exactly park please, i parked in the carpark and my legs are killing.

I'm guessing you parked at Clough Hall? Or something like that, it's been a while since I walked that route, and yes, it murdered me too.
There is a lay by with room for about four cars max on the A54. There's some coordinates in a previous comment which I believe (hope) will get you to the right vicinity.
However, getting that space means a really early start. I'm never there later than 7am.

53.21481511493347, -2.002761155309601 Google Maps Coordinates. Use the satellite layer and you will see the layby.
