SK-II is basically the La Mer cream of skincare brands. Overpriced, overhyped, and the ingredients can typically be found elsewhere for way less money.
yeah also the secret key starting treatment essence is much better than the one from sk2 and sometimes you can get it for 12 bucks on yesstyle. Get your mum some good products. Like cosrx, the ordinary,... sk2 is just overpriced for no reason
Yess please, my Korean mother in law asked us to buy her SKII products everytime we visited Japan (pre corona) and they are expeeeensive, and I didn't know how to explain her there are so many better and very cheaper Korean products !!
@@samofsamnation7523 Not completely. SK-II does have some good ingredients; their base is also not as simple as that of the famous La Mer product (although atleast they formulated their algae extract well, so I guess there's that). Besides in their case they actually did research, and patent some chemical compositions. This already costs a lot. They don't just copy other products, which is the case in cheaper brands. (For example TO doesn't do research, they just use base ingredients which seem to be effective according to the research of others. So they don't have to spend money on that. Unfortunately they also don't really test their formulas, so those sometimes change too depending on the buyer's feedback) Hence the higher price. You can argue though that the benefit you get compared to other products is not equal to price increase. Cosrx and Missha also have ferment based products which are good enough for most people.
I was prescribed silver cream for a giant 2nd degree burn and it healed really well, no infection. Didn't even consider it as an acne active but it makes sense

Silver is used because of its anti bacterial properties. I had silver dressings alternated with honey dressings fortnightly on a long term non healing wound. Things like ulcers and burns are prone to infection and once the wounds get colonised biofilms form and healing is affected. Both dressings stung, the honey very badly but only for about 30 minutes. Since Covid I barely use foundation or powder or anything on my face really. I sleep more, I have more time to exercise and eat right. These are the main ingredients to a great skin, I think. Jlo looking awesome is also due to insane exercise, no alcohol, drugs or fast food. Food is actually underrated when it comes to skin. yes I would love to know more about SK II. In Japan or Asia in general, the brand is viewed as one of the most prestigious skincare. Their products are crazily expensive but I've been told many times they are unlike other companies like La Mer or Chanel etc.. because they actually use good ingredients. Please do a deep dive thank youuu
The ingredients are good, but there are many essences that have very similar ingredients for a much cheaper price. What makes SK II “special” are the galactomyces ferments in the essence, however, many other essences have those ingredients as well and cost way less.
I brought the ski ii facial treatment essence around $200 and it wasnt worth it !literally did nothing for my skin and returned it. Korean essence work better than sk ii ones.

Yes PLEASE make the SK-II video! When I worked in Macy’s I’d take samples home but was soooo confused as to what it was and how to use it. When it comes to toner I really like Amore pacific fermented green tee toner.
In regards to the peeling gels, my sister has been using The Body Shop Vit C one and I was convinced it was the product pilling as opposed to it releasing dead skin cells from the face. I've been trying to find more info on that for a while so thanks for touching up on that. It's actually terrible that companies can trick people into thinking their skincare is doing something that it just isn't!
I actually like peeling gels a lot. Carbomer and cellulose that form these little balls are very gentle physical exfoliants and a lot of brands don’t claim it’s the “dead skincells” or whatever, they tell u it’s the product balling up
Gotta defend! Weleda is wonderful. They have their production site in my little German hometown where they grow many of their ingredients seasonally and very carefully. You can visit the gardens, which are beautiful in summer! They adhere to the highest ethical standards. Definitely recommend!
Hello fellow Gmünder! Ich persönlich mag Weleda garnicht, sehr problematisch, wenn man mal etwas sucht. Esoterisch, und zwar nicht auf die gute Art, antivaxx und Rassistisch.
Weleda is really not a good brand! The main problem is that they continue to uphold and praise the philosophies of Rudolf Steiner (as evidence by his mention on their (german) website). He founded the principles of anthroposophy, on which Weleda base their products, which are highly unscientific. He was also known to plagiarise the works of others and present them as his own ideas. Anything that he came up with that didn't fit into a scientific category was characterised by him as 'higher knowledge' that others just needed to obtain, but he still stated it as scientific fact. To be honest, it resembles the way conspiracy theorists phrase their 'enlightenment'. Additionally, two of his books have been reviewed by the Humboldt University in Berlin after a citizen put in a formal complaint that his work is harmful to minors (at the BPjM). They concluded that is work contains "theses on the different values of human races", namely antisemitism. I find it very harmful that a brand would support an anti-semite like that so openly and not take a stance against that. And, like Jamie L said, look up Lab Muffin & Weleda to see proof of their antivaxx stance. They really embody the "natural is better" stance to a T and in my opinion it is anything but ethical, no matter how beautiful their gardens are.
I’ve never tried the peeling gel that Cassandra tested, but the one I use definitely 100% removes visible dead skin from my face. I understand that the product gums up, but I have visible crust that I regularly remove with peeling gel.
Hi Cassandra, Weleda actualy is pretty big in the Netherlands when it comes to the homeapathic and antroposopfic medicines. I guess they base their skin care on this philosophy as well. I actualy live near their gardens where they grow all their plant and flowers and such.
can you please do video series on skincare ingredients like dedicating a whole video to one ingredient and recommend products? like ceramide, centella, etc. there's so much on the market and I really don't have the time or knowledge to choose one.
The lip sleeping mask is the best night balm and day balm I've ever used. And that small container lasts a LONG TIME. 🤩 It takes forever to use up. Months. Also great for your nose dryness in the winter
Yes please look into the Weleda skin food! I use it at night only after jojoba oil (winter only). I have been super curious what your thoughts are on it. I had cystic acne from 13 to 22. Now at 39 acne monthly. Just trying to love myself over here through skincare at this point. I love the thought and intention you put into your videos thank you so much for your content your narrative has transformed so many of our experiences with skincare. Thank you, Cassandra!

Could you address skincare for pregnancy and breastfeeding? There’s so much to wade through and avoid, but it would be great to have a guide to what to use/avoid especially at affordable prices!
I am not Cassandra, but as a mother of two with no pregnancy marks ever: hydrate as much as possible, with your regular moisturizer, and make the lanolin cream your BFF during the breastfeeding to save you from drying after every baby snack😉
Hi, Cassandra!! The brand we adore, Pyunkang Yul, has a Peeling Gel that Dr. Dray reviewed a couple years ago. She really enjoyed it as part of a seven-step system. I use it sometimes as well and also enjoy it but I've always known it wasn't my skin that's flaking off. I wonder if they market it as something that "peels off sebum" or something along those lines. 🤔
keep in mind that octioxinate does that worst damage to coral reefs and such (literally banned in Hawaii), which is why i switched over to one of elta md's all mineral sunscreens (tinted) - works just as well! also, would LOVE an ski-ii video!
Those studies used excessive amounts (amounts that have never been found in the ocean) of so called toxic sunscreen ingredients into a aquarium with coral reefs. The coral reefs were damaged, but any large amount of product administered in a small aquarium would damage reefs. There is much more research to suggest that the bleaching of coral reefs is caused by pollution and global warming.
@@user-vv7bu2le4q Oh global warming and pollution absolutely contribute the most (and always will), for sure. But when we're really seeing a surge in people using sunscreen, little amounts are going to add up, just like pollution and global warming. I think it's much better safe than sorry. considering how much humanity seems to not give a shit about the environment in general.
Just saying thank you for all your content, I used to have alot of acne and irritation and used all the wrong products but now my skin is looking alot better and feel a bit better
This is super helpful! I love all of your videos and love the fact you show the ingredients and highlight as you explain. I am going back to school in May to do another skincare course so thank you so much for inspiring me and sharing your knowledge!
Definitely would love to see you review the Weleda brand. I only use their baby line for my daughter because it smells so good and I loved their body oil. It’s a Germany brand so the symbol might be used more in European products.
@Cassandra if you look at the 'peelig' gel from another perspective, it is actually genius. Not everyone is a skincare nerd, and that kind of product gives the impression of hard 'exfoliation' but is actually really gentle. So..... If people are dropping their harsh scrubs or not picking at their skin because they get that satisfaction from the peeling gel, well, go for it! And if that is the case, the cosmetic chemist who thought of if is an actual genius, my gess is that it was formulated for the 'average' or 'not educated' consumer, and it is probably saving a lot of people's skin by keeping them away from damagind their skin
I use the weleda skin food and it changed a lot for me. I have acne and very dry skin. This stuff improved the hydration of my skin in a big way. I haven't found it to worsen my acne at all. I also have a question, didn't anyone find hyluronic avoid actually aggravated the dryness of their skin?
i have sensitive somewhat dehydrated dry eczema prone skin, and im so glad you touched on the oils that can irritate them! i cannot use chamomile, lanoline or certain concentrates and percents of bees wax so i really have to look at ingredients! Im sooo glad you touched on fragrance! I cant use products that only say fragrance and dont touch on many of whats included for that reason but if fragrance is low on the ingredient list i usually can!
I feel like as consumers you really got our back girl! With the factual knowledge to back it up. But I LOVE me some Peeling gels!! I know it's not skin cells coming off my face but they are gentle and smooth my skin like nothing else. LabMuffin has a pretty compelling video on them
Please do share about SKII! I've seen so many ads about it and I'm tempted to buy it but it's sooooooo expensive 😢. Also please do a review of Eucerin, I use it right now and would love to hear your thoughts on it!
I often wonder how ingredients in things aren't destroying each other while sitting in the bottle. Like putting acids or something with plant extracts and probiotics.. Isn't the acid going to just get canceled out? Or the probiotics get killed? Or other properties get ruined?
That's what stabilizers and acid buffers are for. Basically, if you put an acid (eg lactic acid) along with a salt that is of similar ph, (sodium lactate) it prevents the acid from ionizing and releasing the acidic hydrogen ions. If you want to learn more, then I suggest you learn about the "COMMON ION EFFECT"
I discovered that if I leave my face alone, it looks great, I use a cleanser, a moisturizer with retinol, masks every 15 days and sunscreen. If I try using oils or some routine I get breakouts. For me, it is best to be clean and simple. Nowadays people are obsessed of looking like a filter by doing long dumb routines and using botox and fillers because everyone is afraid of aging.
Weleda is a Swiss brand and they’re very well known in Central Europe. While I personally don’t like their face care formulas, their brand ethics are really good with a focus on regional and organic products. At least as far as I know 😅
I suffered from severe acne and I'm now almost in my 30s. My current small breakouts are easily managable and I'm happy with my skin. The older I get the more I realize how unecessary most skin care products are. Of course you should use specific treaments prescribed by your doctor for specific skin conditions. But other than that or if you don't have any skin issues? A gentle cleanser in the evening, a moisturizer and a sunscreen. That's it. I'm currently starting to use tretinoin once a week for anti aging purposes but that isn't necessary at all. Also... Good skin care doesn't have to be expensive at all.
Oh Cassandra I literally just adore you!!!!! Giirrlll do I listen to your advice religiously!!!! Does anyone else go down the skincare aisles and is like 'Nope... Nope.. Hell no, lies, definitely no!! 😂 I spend more time reading labels on my skincare than I do on my food shop!! Love you Cassandra 😘 never ever stop educating us!! X
As somebody, who lives near a Weleda factory and has visited their gardens and labs, I can say: It's basically cheaper LaMer. A friend of mine did a internship in their lab, and was allowed to mix a small batch of cream herself. They threw it out. Not because she could have done something wrong with mixing or handling the equipment wrong. They explained, that she didn't have "the right vibes yet", to make the product really effective. Generally, the whole company is very spiritual, and not in the good way. One of their main fielnd is also homeopathy, so take that, as you will. Would love a video on them from you, Cassandra, and see, what else you can find out!
There was this product that we sold at the store I was working at it was called pommage or something and it would do that. Never tried it because I know how my skin reacts to exfoliaters.
Hey Cassandra what are some face masque that are affordable that you recommend? Love your videos so much you helped me so much with my skin so thank you ❤️❤️❤️
There's a derm on RUclips I think she's from the UK and she uses the skin food moisturizer I just started following her i wanna say her name is Sereen but I'm not 100 percent sure but she also gives her opinion on products on here as well.
Hey big Cyst-er! I love ur videos and ur energy is so magnetic ☺️ I was wonder if u could make a video about la Roche pose please, I heard a lot of derms use it and recommended it and I wanted to know ur thoughts on the brand and their products. Hope you are have a wonderful day/night!
Agrees with you! I strongly dislike it how Huda Kattan promotes her exfoliant claming that gummed up products are dead skin. She keeps doing it and makes me so mad.
Great video as always. Have you done any videos talking about dermal fillers? I'm interested in a subtle filler for the vermilion of my lips. I know at least to stay away from those weird popup boutiques.

Ive seen where Dr Dray or someone said theres not any or enough studies to prove if thats true. Idk what to believe.
@@user-vv7bu2le4q i think that is what Dr Dray was saying too.
I would be interested in a detailed video about SkII. So popular in Asia!
Just saying thank you for all your content, I used to have alot of acne and irritation and used all the wrong products but now my skin is looking alot better and feel a bit better
This is super helpful! I love all of your videos and love the fact you show the ingredients and highlight as you explain. I am going back to school in May to do another skincare course so thank you so much for inspiring me and sharing your knowledge!
z-eye-gler is rly paining me rn lmao🤠
Wow it's so rare to see Cassandra this happy about someone's routine. The happy energy is great 💖😆👍
I am kind of annoyed that Vogue allow videos that miss represent products on their platform 😬 I would love and skII video!!
Maddie is so pretty. Everyone is different. Whatever works for her 😊😊
Ok but her hair looks amazing in this vid 😍 them curls tho 🥺
Hi Cassandra,
Would love to see Ur updated skincare routine along with the products you use. U look absolutely stunning😍
Definitely would love to see you review the Weleda brand. I only use their baby line for my daughter because it smells so good and I loved their body oil. It’s a Germany brand so the symbol might be used more in European products.
Cassandra, I've been waiting for that Gwyneth Paltrow video! You have to watch James Welsh's reaction!
😅
Thumbs up for SK-II review!
I am young, but now, with your help, I know what products to use when I’m older!👍🤩
another amazingggg reaction videoo
but we wanna see our butterfly queen’s current skincare routine for 2021 as well!!
Yes, please spill the tea on SK II 🔥
i have sensitive somewhat dehydrated dry eczema prone skin, and im so glad you touched on the oils that can irritate them! i cannot use chamomile, lanoline or certain concentrates and percents of bees wax so i really have to look at ingredients! Im sooo glad you touched on fragrance! I cant use products that only say fragrance and dont touch on many of whats included for that reason but if fragrance is low on the ingredient list i usually can!
I am so shook by Maddie using the skin food on her face, I’ve only ever used it on my hands!!!
I feel like as consumers you really got our back girl! With the factual knowledge to back it up. But I LOVE me some Peeling gels!! I know it's not skin cells coming off my face but they are gentle and smooth my skin like nothing else. LabMuffin has a pretty compelling video on them
Grinning hardcore watching her put on DE and THAT other brand. Such a fabulous skincare routine overall omg!
Please do share about SKII! I've seen so many ads about it and I'm tempted to buy it but it's sooooooo expensive 😢. Also please do a review of Eucerin, I use it right now and would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Early 🙋♀️
I wanna see your reaction to Gwyneth Pawlton's Skincare Routine 🤭😬
Yes! Good choice!
Watching that I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry
Cassandra probably is still "recovering" from that much awfulness
Oh God didn't she say she had dry skin? Then it turned out she was using multiple exfoliating products on a daily basis. Yikesss.
@@TalkAsSoftAsChalk and she keeps saying "clean" and "non-toxic" while wearing a sunscreen as a highlighter.
I would love a sk-II video!!
Cassandra for the honesty win... Toilet paper issues are REAL!
Yes, please make a breakdown!
Weleda is a Swiss brand and they’re very well known in Central Europe. While I personally don’t like their face care formulas, their brand ethics are really good with a focus on regional and organic products. At least as far as I know 😅
What you (sadly) can also fund in the brand: Antivaxx views, racism, esotericism.
I love watching other people indulge in self care as well😊
I’m sooo happy she knows a lot of what you’ve been teaching us for years !!! 😊 / Btw, awesome video !! ✨🙌🏼🤍
reaction videos are one of my ✨ *faves* ✨
I’m so proud of Maddie omg
"Confessions of a skincare addict" I love it!
Is it a take on Thomas De Quincey's "Confessions of an English Opioid-Eater" (1821)?
There was this product that we sold at the store I was working at it was called pommage or something and it would do that. Never tried it because I know how my skin reacts to exfoliaters.
Hey Cassandra what are some face masque that are affordable that you recommend? Love your videos so much you helped me so much with my skin so thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Thumbs up for what nobody else will tell you about SK-II!!!
yes Cassandra posted a video!!! 😍 Been loving your channel recently. So proud being a cyst-er 💕
Could you please share a list of moisturizers that are safe around the under eye area? Thanks for the informative content
Cassandra the intro had me thinking Iv gone crazy 😂😂😂❤️

There's a derm on RUclips I think she's from the UK and she uses the skin food moisturizer I just started following her i wanna say her name is Sereen but I'm not 100 percent sure but she also gives her opinion on products on here as well.
Really? Who is it? I live in the UK would be great to know haha
Oh my GOSH. I used to watch you 10 years ago and I’ve just stumbled across you and you look AMAZING
Yes please!! Give us the info on SK!! I’ve been eyeing it up for a year but can’t bring myself to pay that much for an Essence
What a wonderful morning 🦋💕
Great video as always. Have you done any videos talking about dermal fillers? I'm interested in a subtle filler for the vermilion of my lips. I know at least to stay away from those weird popup boutiques.
