It's safe to say with how hidden the quest is, most people likely don't ever encounter the enclave in FNV. So the fact that he not only knows all their names and character dynamics but still remembers this obscure story about a throw away bug shows his genuine love and passion for this game.
tbf its really not that hidden, expecially for q/a testers who would be testing portions of the game that developers intend to ship. (ie please test arcades companion quest and its outcomes etc. go to here here and here to do so.) what does make it suprising, is that they q/a tested auld yen sang before testing hoover dam, on the same save file. usually q/a test pre-determined saves/not the full game (which likely tbf just shows how pressed for time the devs were, having people test things one after the other) - sure they'd want to know that the enclave worked and was set up properly to show up at hoover dam, and would do so atleast once, for legion, house, ncr and independant (4 total tests) but sawyer mentioned many many many people coming across the same bug haha
Hidden stuff is fun. It makes new playthroughs exciting

Wasn't hard for me to get. I didn't took up any guides on how to do it, I just randomly found all the enclave locations and made the 2nd battle of the hoover dam possible.
I thought it was only a companion quest if you take arcade to the locations where he'll comment on his enclave past. Who's to say someone already visited a lot of those locations before meeting arcade and never went back with him.
This bug is still in the game in a few places. For example, if you kill Chris Haversam in the "Come Fly With Me" quest after you have already helped the ghouls and Jason Bright is giving his speech, Chris will have his dead body spawn in the middle of Novac.
A year late but it also happens with Hardin during "Eyesight to the Blind" basically if you kill Head Paladin Hardin when you first come in, then talk to Elder McNamara and walk out, Hardin is *supposed* to be outside and try to convince you to cross McNamara, but because he's dead his body gets teleported outside lol
Year late too, but same thing happens when your done wtih the enclave and arcade gannon comes out and talks too you and if you kill him and you told him to fight at hoover damn his dead body will be in the lobby.
I had Cannibal Johnson follow me into the final confrontation with the Legate. Not sure why but more guns definitely helped with the legion soldiers all over the place

I don't know if this story is true, but I hope it is. I heard during Skyrim's development Bethesda was testing their "Radiant AI" system. One of the NPCs would spend his day working in his garden with a rake. They took his rake and moved it to the next house over while he was sleeping to see what would happen. The NPC got out of bed, went to the neighbors house, Killed him, took his rake back, and then went back to bed.
It's these kinds of bugs that people are ok with seeing from time to time lol if I seen the naked and headless corpse be tossed from the vertibird I'd be in tears.
I really love how Josh Sawyer remembers this stuff. I think it goes to show that he really cares about Fallout, especially New Vegas since he worked on it, but I would love to see him as a lead dev on a future Fallout game.
This bug still exists, if you take them all out by shooting at a mine. Had a bunch of corpses drop out of a vertibird two playthroughs back and I was dying laughing.
That's so crazy! I had a similar bug in Fallout 4! So in the Railroad questline, you're sent to Malden Center to clear out Institute synths in the subway. You meet Glory at the subway entrance and can either have her help or stay back. In my playthrough, I had her come along and help and I finished the quest without any real issues. Hours later as part of a different Railroad quest, all members of The Railroad are gathered around the center to hear Desdemona's plan. But the dialogue gets stuck. I shoot at Des to try to skip forward in her dialogue, I leave and come back, I reload an older save. Nothing. I load back in a final time and notice that a dead, dismembered Glory is sprawled on the floor. What normally happens is that the quest moves Glory to that position to say her line of dialogue in response to Desdemona. Glory is an essential actor, meaning that she can't be killed, so no matter where she is in the game world, she gets teleported to Railroad HQ at such and such coordinates and says x line. But there's a bug that can happen where her essential flag gets flipped off and she's able to die. So she still gets teleported to the correct position, but can't say her line and basically soft locks the quest. I loaded the save right before I started that scene and teleported my character to Glory's position. Sure enough, she's dead right at the start of the Malden subway where you encounter your first group of synths.
Found a bug with the war club from honest hearts. I have the slayer perk, lvl 2 hack and slash I think, and honor markings to increase attack speed. But when going over a bridge with a gap or anything similar your character will shoot into the air with insane speed.
A while back, some random guy told me some Devs let's glitches happen knowing they can fix them and instead secretly put the bugs into builds, because the team wants to see if it makes any differences forcing players to find what is wrong. Or accepting the bug. I love these types of Developers.

This bug can actually be recreated with any essential npc in fallout 4 if you remove their god mode and kill them before a quest trigger where they move locations
similiar thing happened to me in fallout 4 of all places if a caravan guard is killed near you, and you loot their clothes. you will meet the same guard again later guarding their traveling caravan naked. because i guess they doesnt supposed to die. so the game just revive / spawn em back a while later with whatever they got in their inventory even if they lose something in there (clothes)
There's a similar one where if you tell deputy beagle to help you fight the powder hangers in the hotel, and he dies, then his body can spawn inside the vikli and vance later. Was so confused till I backtracked my steps lmao
Recently finished a replay of New Vegas and I had a very different Moreno bug. I call it “The Enclave Ending.” I was actually able to get Moreno to side with the remaining remnants to side with the NCR at Hoover Dam despite doing a Mr. House run. But something weird happened. When I arrived in in the Legion camp, the Remnants followed me in. Suddenly I heard a lot of heavy fire and got a lot of XP. At the top of the hill, Moreno was standing over Lanius’ corpse. Finally, after I told Oliver to get lost and the epilogue slideshow started, Moreno walked into the foreground and just stared menacingly at me until it was over.
Walking out of the conference room in the Remnant's bunker and seeing Orion in his APA holding you at gunpoint fucking pissed tf off is one of the scariest moments in FNV. First time I played it I shit a brick and thought this dude is gonna fuck me UP
The same bug happens if you kill Caleb McCaffery inside the Atomic Wrangler before doing the Debt Collector quest. After the quest, his dead body will spawn in front of Gomorra.
