I know the Victorinox Handyman doesn't have huge pliers but that's my pick for this size range and weight. It's extremely tool dense, the can opener works as a 2D philips or add a philips to your corkscrew and you're set.
Excellent updates on alternatives. Dad carry a Skeletool in a custom sheath with a folded scissors. Most times additions are better than doing mods. Cheers mate.
I saw I guy who replaced his Skeletool blade with 91 mm SAK scissors. That makes me consider doing the same to a Rebar… would be perfect to pair with a regular pocket knife.
One of my favorite lightweight multitools is a combination of the wingman and sidekick. Get the plain edge blade + scissors on the outside, Phillips + flathead/prytool on one side, can/bottle opener + package opener + small serrated blade on the other side. Near perfect combination of tools with a pocket clip and spring loaded pliers
Great points on the poweraccess I totally agree. One additional benefit is it is actually thinner than the power pint which to me makes it an easier pocket carry. Yes the knife sucks. I’m going to try to swap in some victorinox scissors instead. Oh one other big advantage compared to a lot of those is that all of the tools are locking.
Your poweraccess appears not to be spongy when gripping the plier handles and it seems like the handles align when closing. Mine did not so the quality it’s iffy.
gerber octane is actually 152 gramm so its 10 gramm heavier than skeletool. Would be nice to have an awl on octane instead of package opener - as an inside tool is useless, to much effort to open some box when you got outside knife. And an awl is handy - marks for drilling, some nuts cracking, holes in plastic etc, btw what are options for awl donor for that tool, maybe you know some?
I agreed that only thing the Sceletool needs is the pair of scissors. In all other aspects it's just perfect for its tasks.

Good recommendation!
If the Handyman had a proper Phillips like the Explorer, it would be perfect...😊
I have used the file tip as 2D Phillips successfully. I just have to be careful not to torque it too much.
@@edgaraquino2324 Craftsman is one option, but it's discontinued.

The skeletool would be my perfect tool, but I need scissors! I want to see the skeletool with scissors
Definitely! That would be a great addition!
The SAK huntsman is the perfect companion for this
Leatherman Really Needs To Bring Back The Leap As An EDC Option...
The skeletool has a one hand opening knife That was the key thing for me. I also carry a SAK Explorer..
DUDE, YOU HEARD ME.... THANKS, BRO!
THANKS, THANKS, THANKS!!!
You're welcome!

Love my Skeletool CX! 😎✌️
Leatherman Freestyle is a great option
I carry a sak tourist, channellock 524 pliers & fiskar folding scissors lighter than skeletool
I would probably just stick with the skeletool or maybe the power access

True!! I like that idea about scissors!
Used PST with an aftermarket clip attached chef's kiss
I LOVE SKELETOOL!!!
I think the best and closest competitors are the sog reactor and the sog flash mt
I would say the Curl instead of the Bond to replace a Skeletool. At least that's what I chose.🤷

I'm not sure offhand off a replacement awl. I'll have to think about that.
how about gerber strata?
I think it's actually 7 to 8 oz or so.
The SOG power access is a great tool with one huge disappointment. The knife blade is a joke, improve that and it’s a great tool.
🍀🍀
If they made one with a scissor instead of a blade I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
