The best summary on Leatherman. The fastest way to get the big picture.
A very comprehensive overview of Leatherman tools that can be used by the beginner & the pro...😊 Good job, thanks!!
You finished the video with the best of the best. Victorinos in an endless multitool!!
I got my first (and second) Leatherman tool in 1985, while I was in basic training. after getting one, I quickly realized that often you need two tools at the same time. this is why I have carried a minimum of two every since. I have had a very wide range of Leatherman tools over the years, and still have most of them. I understand you had limited access to the tools of the past, but you did say "every" and you left off two of my favorite tools. the Micra and the Mini. I picked up a mini when they first came out, and still carried the two on my belt, but kept it in one of the pouches on my LBE, with my PFAK. a while back I did a video on all of my multi tools, and showcased my Leatherman tools as the ones I always return to.
@@OtherThanIntendedPurpose I’ll check out your collection video. There are a lot of great retired tools. For this video I focused on currently available plier based tools for people looking to buy. I did shoutout some notable retired tools at the end, and the PST lineage is shown in text at the beginning but I think I forgot about the mini!
The intro on repeat is the Napoleon Dynamite sequel I've been waiting for.
This is A+ 👌
What a fascinating intro
😅
Great breakdown of all Leatherman lineups 👌 Well done!
The video I was looking for !
Amazing video, just what I needed.
I’m glad it helped
Your video is of great quality! I Subscribed instantly.
Welcome to the channel!
Thanks for sharing. Very detailed oriented. Leatherman just like a Cadillac of all tools.
5:42 Rev has better plier head, the cutters actually meet and cut wire. So imo if you see it on sale, grab one !
I switched to rev from skeletool, I feel like it's little bit tougher yet still carries well in the pocket.
I have Rev and I very like it!
Agreed!😊 the REV has an excellent plier head & cutters, a very sharp blade, no spring & a package cutter which is excellent...it has a great many uses & if you are out & about on a light day, it's a perfect pocket carry by itself, or with a Swisscard & a favorite folder....if you can get it for a decent price, grab it....
Leatherman should pay you to get this on their website
this really helps thanks, man.
Great video
This is exactly the video I was looking for about a month ago. Ended up buying the skeletool, very nice piece of kit, not really the best at doing anything, but it gets the job done for what I need it for and it’s the perfect size and weight for what I wanted.
I’m glad you found one you like. The skeletool is really handy. Starting with the Skeletool also gives you room to upgrade if you ever want to try another one lol.
Great work summarizing a lot of information in a very easy to understand format. Thanks for putting it together 👍👍👍
Amazing video and very informative.
The Curl''s a really underrated tool. Shame it didn't get included.
I cover the Curl at 2:24 , it is a good option.
@@Kayakatools I watched the whole video, yet somehow I missed that!
Meeeh. Doesn't have changeable wirecutters - even rebar have it
Just curious what thumbstud you have on the Free P4 in the video?
Sure I have a whole video on different thumb studs ruclips.net/video/6ZOBz0j8g7Q/видео.html
Here’s the one I’m using a.aliexpress.com/_mKpg9l2
I like the wingman used it for years and never had a problem the plyers worked well not a big fan of the skeletool but it’s not made for heavy duty work
I’ve heard a lot of people who own the Wingman like it. I liked its toolset and spring loaded pliers are nice. I wouldn’t personally recommend it because I felt the wire cutters and scissors were a step backwards. I did a whole video on the WM if you’re interested ruclips.net/video/D3XAKyL2gkE/видео.htmlsi=fh6Y_mj9Ed3VOKpR
Yeah the Skeletool does have some compromises, the pliers are thin and the handles are only comfortable if you don’t have to really squeeze them
@@Kayakatools I’ll have to check out the video
@@Kayakatools Your videos are absolutely awesome though when you mentioned your second channel in a video about the Firefly knife there was no link that I can find to your second channel And then when I manually searched and found your second channel there were no links to any of the Leatherman tools that you recommended In this video . I know I'm just lazy but it would have been nice not to have to spend the time now to read through the transcript and then do a Google search And I'm old and still have an attention span but I doubt that anyone younger than me who has a frenetic attention span of a fruit fly would not take the effort and you'd lose a subscriber. Not a criticism just a suggestion.
@@AllGoodOutside wow you’re right! I did put an info card with the link but I totally forgot to put it in the description, and product links for this video are a good idea
@@Kayakatools I'm sorry if I missed the info card, I have youtube set up a little differently than normal. And I agree about the product links, They can be a A good way to make extra income As well.
If I person buys the arc for the magnacut steel I get it. If they buy it fir the full size metal file then they don’t understand magnetism.
I’ve heard that a lot but I haven’t seen someone have that problem yet. there are only two magnets, covered by plastic, I think they can just be brushed off.
😊😌
Im surprised you did not mention that the skeletool is a huge waste of money. Mine broke the plier part off twice. I went and bought a gerber that has yet to need to be returned.
The skeletool has the weakest plier head. The Surge/Supertool plier head, Free, and Rebar/Signal are the strongest I believe.
Leatherman blew it when they introduced their proprietary bit driver set up.
My biggest complaint w the bit driver is it doesn’t have any reach, that’s why I prefer a Philips. Something like the Cybertool bit driver could be cool
No from a point of business it worked because everyone bought it. That's business 101, if people buy it, you keep it.
@@Dracomies out of 6 of us, one guy has a Leatherman with their proprietary driver bits. Leaving the 5 of us carrying Gerber center drives. “That’s Business 101”.
Every leathermen….misses
A signal 😂
2:25
Unfortunatly, and im saying this as a fan, none anymore 😂 or get the surge.
I have yet to get the Surge! I feel like the P4 is already bulky for pocket carry
no one uses an awl.
I use one probably once a week and is why I have to carry an Alox Victorinox along with whatever tool or knife I have. No one does the awl/reamer like they do. Leathermans are ok if your goal is to caveman your way through something soft. If you want to actually drill something then the Victorinox specifically the inline reamer only on the 93mm line is the way to go.
i use it quite a lot, for leatherworking and for drilling stuff if you dont have power tools when you need them, that being said, i mean the victorinox one, the leatherman is not quite as useful
I’ve used the Free one for drilling a hole for a drywall anchor (and hammering it in). Also used the threading and screwing functions of that particular one.
Because you don't? Wrong.
I'm a cobbler and use one all the time, as well as a last.
