I feel like the captain should be screaming for mercy as he goes down not grunting and groaning like he has been stabbed and about to bleed out. Their is no way you would be monologues as 5 kilometer long creature drags you stupidly far under water. Short lived scream with tons of static and then the explosion would be better, in my opinion.
Definitely this. He's way too calm when his ship was just nuked and then getting dragged underwater by some massive unknown creature
@@RubbeUhh Ah , shit , another day when gigantic monster is eating my ship after it got nuked by Gods-know-what mechanism. Nothing new xD
Seriously? Another planetary defense cannon shot down my ship and now a giant monster is dragging me to god knows where? This is the fourth time this week! And it’s only Wednesday!!!
I think that's him drowning because he doesn't have any diving equipment on, given that the creature is literally BITING into the ship's hull water is likely pouring in fast so he's likely having to fight for his air just to get that message out.
Clearly you've never been in the military during a disaster situation. People like that are trained to keep calm until the bitter end, panic does no good.
The Garg landing absolutely would have caused a tsunami, which I think would be a neat feature, requiring that you enter the building after the garg lands or you'll die from the heavy impact of the tsunami. That would leave the true size of the garg a mystery, making it much more terrifying than before.
That would be sick, but i just dont think its possible.
Much easier said then done
@@HollowKnightReference I am aware, I'm not saying it's a requirement, but it would definitely be a cool feature.
@@dingdawng I got a reply to a reply on a 4 month old comment?!?!
But I agree it would be cool. But I don't you can do really big stuff like that without seriously altering the game, which is hard.
@@HollowKnightReference I probaly could if it were my full time job. But it would probaly use a lot of resouecea and stuff. Perhaps be broken. And well having the "wawe" be extremely radioactive or warm. Unless it is an entity hmm wait
I dont think the garg should go THAT vertical out of the water, in the end his tail is just plain 90 degree against the ocean, looks kinda goofy but other than that I gives me major chills
Yea the angle looks a little off. Still a really cool sight to behold.
The angle before was worse. And without the splash it didn't even look real. I think this is a great improvment...still wish the gargantuan had more use
Y'all need to give the team some time to create a perfect cut scene
@@red_crownn they’re just giving constructive criticism so they can perfect it, they know it still needs more time before being perfected and they’re just trying to help with that
@@SkeletronGames valid point
I feel like the Garg lev needs a bit more splashing with the body portions rising out of the water at 1:45 but everything else looks phenominal!
Yeah, just a few tiny changes, like maybe give the Sunbeam some flames as it's falling down as well, but in general it's great. I didn't like how in the original the ship just disintegrates, now it makes more sense.
@@DarkButz yup, specially given how the aurora was almost "intact" after the shot
And also when the tail goes in would be dope if a wave reached the island or something. Definitely something that massive should have constant effects on the water/atmosphere. Not trying to be picky just putting ideas out. The progress is awesome!
@@dprzeesy8278 I think that's too difficult to make, Unknown Worlds would've added some waves for the aurora explosion too if it were easy
@@thebrushman4123 to be fair. The aurora is fucking massive
What’s crazy is that the gargantuan leviathan is really only one skeleton of a lost time…imagine how many other leviathan species grew to that size.
Imagine if there were creatures the size of continents living in the void that fed on gargantuan leviathans and they just died off super quickly
Bro the entire subnautica crater is just the back of a fucking reefback
@Out of the Box Productions it is said somewhere that the entire world of subnautica is dead except the few square KM around your lifepod. There is nothing alive out there.
@@matelepur1499 it says it’s a ecological dead zone and only leviathans and micro organisms live out there, definitely more leviathans than just the ghost.
@@codieneshark2718 In one of the PDA’s it says that the entire area you play on was once a volcanic crater, it is now surrounded by the dead zone and the only trace of living organisms is in a 5x5km space around your spawn. Outside of that nothing survived the khaara
Love how this cutscene looks. Wonder if itll be improved even more. Seeing some sort of tsunami would be sick but could be hard to pull off.
Yeah, a tsunami would be awesome but I don't think it's realistically possible :/
@@SpeedyMouse sadly yeah. It wouldn't be worth the time and effort either , but who knows what can be accomplished. Makes me excited for what the other events will be
If we can make it work seamlessly with the water then sure
It would probably be more realistic if the gargantuan leviathan moved way slower because of it's size and the distance you're looking at it from.
I think it would be cool if he didnt appear right at the entrance to the void but the pda said something like "Detecting leviathan class lifeform. It seems to has noticed us." and then you see an eye or hear it far off. then after the sunbeam and you fullyvsee it it is then possible to find it.

the timing of the lines are still a bit weird but that can be excused, as sometimes people just don't wait until you've finished your sentence to reply. but personally the thing that bugs me is the timing of which the crew get into the escape pods. it feels too quick y'know? and I know they had to squeeze alot of things into such a small scene, but it just doesn't seem right. unless the seats inside the ship could somehow turn into the pods and eject them. which would then make that quick timing logical
I'm wondering if they are actually able to change the games code a bit so that the cut scene is longer.
@@saxenblake6100 they actually got the voice actor for avery quinn and recorded new lines for the scene so yes

I love the rainbow Alpha peeper the most! It really makes it seem like all the other descendants could have branched off from it. I hope they either keep that one or keep all of them.
Agreed, it really does make more sense for it to have multiple colors as the ancestor, plus the colors are beautiful, vibrant and super pleasing to the eye. Would be cool if they kept them all too
What if they kept all of the Alpha Peeper variants but had a different one depending on the biome?

Think the purple one with the blue eye would fit well in the dunes/ even around the tree with the Ghost leviathan eggs in the Lost River. I also think the rainbow one would fit best in the safe shallows.
Oh my god that new Sunbeam animating is insane! I really like that they got new voice lines with the same va for Avery Quinn and it’s neat that Anthomnia is in there too. The alpha Peeper design is also just amazing all around! I love it!!
Me too :)

The scariest part about the Gargantuan Leviathan is that most predatory animals have their eyes on the front. This is to get a better view of their target, which they will almost always be looking at dead-on. But the Gargantuan Leviathan has eyes on the sides of its head, a common adaptation for *prey* animals to let them look all around them at all times. So that means that not only are they prey animals to something, but whatever is their predator is so dangerous that it was more important for them to tell that they’re coming than the ability to have depth perception on their targets.
I don’t think they’re prey animals. The PDA calls them a Super Predator. They may have been cannibalistic though, meaning they probably grew to a size that we can’t even imagine.
Its also a common adaptation for creatures that live on a 3D ambient instead of a 2D land.
Water and air are 3D ambients and any potential prey or hunter may come from any side.
Thats why orcas also have eyes on the sides of their heads. But i don't think anything besides humans is hunting them
A little late but I'm assuming there's sort of a pyramid of cannibalism and size. This dude has no doubt eaten multiple other gargantuan leviathans in its life time and may well get eaten by a larger one just to stay alive since there is nothing else to fuel it besides one of its own
I think the head falling in the water should be slower, the body falls with the perfect speed, but the head part was too fast
The head falls fast to show that the Leviathan is slamming the ship downwards not just falling with it
And also the cutscene is on some sort of a time limit so The AoTU have to work around that, so the only way to make the body move slower is to make the head fall faster and vice versa.
At least that’s what I think they did.
@@zenphir9051 I don't have a problem with the head but the way the body curls back into the water doesn't quite work. The curl doesn't match the way the head jumps out and lands.
The only thing that is missing is a giant wave, but Subnautica misses this aspect at all
Unknown words: let’s put some ghost leviathan’s to keep people from going to the void
Return of the ancients: let’s put a massive leviathan to make people want to go to the void
The splash really adds some scale for the gargantuan leviathan
I find it funny how intrigued he gets by the baby garg "biting him" even though it's obviously a glitch.
IT WAS THE GOD DARN BABY!?
ITS WAS A BABY?
@@mercillesreaperlmao469 yes
I personally would like the Devs to keep all variants of the alpha peeper and make them spawn in different zones like the flame/magma variants of fish in the lava zone.
The fact that the pilot was still alive after being shot down, engulfed in flames, eaten, and dragged thousands of meters down is crazy
Imagine playing this mod at dark time in VR inside of the void
That would be terrifying... (and it's kind of already been done -> ruclips.net/video/nbqHoLBKK4w/видео.html)
Saw the video right now ! It’s pretty awesome. Love your content mate , keep up the good work
Exactly!!! I want this mod so I can do it in VR XD
Wow the alpha peeper looks fantastic, love how they took inspiration from Betta fish for its design. Those sounds are super cute as well.
Can't wait at all! Now, maybe they're only doing this for testing and or showcase purposes, but right now, my one and only gripe is that the Gargantua seems to appear in the void almost immediately. I think you should have to be out there for like three minutes or something. Not only would that make seeing it more tense and accomplishing while also adding to it's grand, boss-like status, it would also mean that the Ghosts aren't IMMEDIATELY outclassed. Like, ''Oh hell, nothing could possibly be worse than these Ghosts!'' and then Gargantua.
For the alpha Peeper they should just spread the various colors over the different biomes. For example you could only find the green one in the lost river. Or the purple-ish one could only be found in the jellyshroom cave.
I think the alpha peeper should have a beak since peepers usually eat hard corals for which they need beaks
One huge way I know they can use to improve for the animation at the gun is it coming at the sun beam from the side. It would make it make more sense and it would be realistic. I see what they're trying to go for but for that tail to do that while also having it come straight up doesn't really mix together.
I think it would be pretty cute if one of the animations of the baby garg is to either try to bite your face or hand, but not actually hurt you, but then swim away and giggle at you with a sassy expression. (probably minus the sassy expression though as I think it would not actually be too accurate I guess as I don't know just how intelligent these gargs are)
The rainbow alpha peeper looks like something that would be in Subnautica: Below Zero.
Also we can see a couple of pebles flying in the air just as the gun is about to fire, which is really cool
I think the "grab your head animation" is just a bug judging by the clipping and the logic, why would it do that ? Think its a normal animation but when he eats something it move it forward giving this weird animation
I think you're probably right 👍
I haven't watched this channel for over a year so when I got this video recommended I was surprised you're still making Subnautica content. Glad to see you're still making good content. Keep it up!
this mod is so amazing, can't wait for it to be available for everyone, also i think the 3rd variant of the alpha peeper you showed is the best of the 4, i like how there's purple and also looked kinda like the blue of regular peeper in the middle, along with the pink eye of the oculus, definitely matches the idea that all peeper varients descended from it
What they could do for the alpha peepers is have different varieties in certain areas and even have them spawn deeper such as the lost river
I love all the changes and can't wait to get my hands on this, but I think the glass shatter could be slightly better, it just looks like a stock image over your vision, but I'm sure its in early development
That was amazing. Didn’t even know this mod existed, and I love Subnauctia! You’ve got my sub.
I fully recognize that there’s a lot more to work on than just the Garg. I understand that, and it is very important to recognize that the development of mods OR games is much more complex than this makes it seem.
But in my head, the mod is like, 99% completed and the only thing the developers have left to work on is the Garg - it’s just so ridiculously massive that it takes up 90% of their effort, and that idea is very funny to me for reasons I can’t explain.
Super looking forward to this mod once it’s complete; it has the potential to be one of those mods that fans of a game just collectively accept as a natural expansion of the vanilla game.
Man, i love your channel, pls keep it up, awesome lunching content
I think i would be cool if a bit of the sunbeam that floated to the surface after the gargantuan leviathan dragged it down had special technology that can help you fight the gargantuan leviathan. It would be a big project but it would be cool. Either way this mod looks amazing and i cant wait to see what they do with it next.
What if whenever you play with the baby Garg, it has a chance of biting you and doing damage. It doesn’t have to be a lot, maybe just like the same as a biter. But since it’s such an apex predator, it might almost want to eat you sometimes.
I think that's a good idea - it definitely would be realistic!
@@SpeedyMouse Oh thanks mate
Awesome video, keep up the good work speedy👍
Thanks Tangy :)
I love your channel so much James, I'm your number one fan from Egypt!
Wondering if the animation where the baby Garg bites your face is just a glitch caused by trying to play while it eats. Really hope it's just play fighting instead!
I think that's pretty likely but that also would be an interesting animation lol
Wow, thanks for the reply! Agreed! Would further cement it being a sea serpent puppy😄
The alpha peepers are adorable... I really hope they keep all the variants.
Love these videos keep up the good work :D
Damn you been really growing I’ve been here since 6k
i feel like the rainbow alpha peeper doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the game, but the rest of the designs are incredible.
Never played this game but I can finally feel how big this is, I watched some videos but never felt it was that huge as everyone said, but now this is what I wanted.
This is actually so sick would be cool to see some more splashes when the tail fades away back into the water
I think that this is one of the best channels ever
This was awesome!
Warning: A titan class leviathan is in the area. Exercise extreme caution, and pray.
God damn I got straight chills for 10 seconds, incredible!
I always cant wait too watch another Return of the ancients
Update video
I think the more rainbow-y Alpha Peeper looks the best for what they’re going for.
4:35 thats the same sound they use for the Bio dragon in day of dragons but a little slowed down and distorted. I love that
pretty cool but i think the sunbeam should move a bit more erratically when shot down, *like a real plane would*
01:50 well that was traumatised
I wonder if the Red Beryl will be used to craft something like a new Seamoth Depth Module in the future.
HOLY the eating animation is slick
Ur the best and the nicest boi I ever watched on this platform 😅
Thank you, I appreciate it :)
Nice content 👍🏻
Thank you :)
Avery: saying his final words and asking his crew forgiveness from a giant leviathan
PDA : can I tell you about how our multi million credit ship has a chance to explode
If the gargantuan leviathan jumped high enough, it'd probably get shot by the space laser.
“Oi! I’m helping you take down the ship! Leave me alone!”
I think all the alpha peeper variants could be added in the game rather than only one, each one spawning in a specific biome. The green one is best suited to spawn in the kelp forest and maybe mushroom forest, the purple one (with pink eye) in the mushroom caves and underwater caves, and the other purple one (with blue eye) in the bulb zone, and the light green one with pink eyes in the grand reef and shallows.
this may have been a bit fast but playing this in slow motion besides the slow talking is so cool
I just started a new gaming channel a few weeks ago and after rewatching your videos I’m thinking I might make some vids playing subnautica! Thanks for inspiring me to make some new content
This reminds me of that scene in the spongebob SquarePants movie. Where that big eel eats the the thing that was chasing spongebob and Patrick down the road
The tail is a little odd, but I imagine this is kinda realalistic, given that Garg snatched what it see as prey out of the air and is now diving downwards to the borrom of the void to chow down in peace it stands to reason it would move it's tail in such a way to sort of dive easer like a plane doing a nose dive.
The base building tool is awesome!
I think when the gargantuan leviathan lands in the water It should crash back in way slower, it looks like it just gains a giant speed boost when going down, reason let's say you can recreate this world perfectly or just use a real life example, it would for sure come back in the ocean slower like the mossasourus in the jurassic park movie with Chris Pratt the first one, as in the shark eating scene
The tail being so vertical at the end is a little silly because I feel like at that size it implies the ocean in that spot is way deeper than it could possibly be for not even being that far away.
Me before ; man this mod is cool, makes me want it.
Playing with the baby Garg: oh I need it.
WHY THE BABY SWEET
So, all I'm gonna say is that, the Garg needs to fall much slower and the actual body needs to not be rigid. It's supposed to be flexible
the odd thing to me is that its not even deep enough for that thing to fit in the game world. When it's diving under I just imagine it clipping through the ocean floor cause its relatively close.
That's not true, the world isn't just the size of the area the player visits. The DEEPEST part of the world that the player visits (lava biome) is ~1,800m deep.
To put this into perspective, just outside of the play area is "the void". The Void is roughly a kilometer deep, about five times deeper than the deepest part of the lava biome.
The entire gameplay area is basically the tip of a colossal underwater mountain. The water on this planet is PLENTY deep enough to hold life forms of this size, probably even bigger.
@@Happyfoam-lw3yt Yeah thanks dude, I played subnautica. It's obviously true the thing cannot be in the play area as a coherent asset that makes sense. Stop being an acktually nerd.

'GARGANTUAN LEVIATHAN LAST SEEN 9600 YEARS AGO SIGHTED EATING SUNBEAM' -On the news today lol
The leviathans head appendages tentacles if you will move more stiff looking like the stay down instead of them going up then falling down it stays
For some reason i just love seeing massive creature either fly or just there
summat that big hitting the water that hard will cause a tidal wave. imagine if your lifepod was damaged by the wave caused when the aurora blew up? now that would be realistic.
the new thing about it eating the sunbeam is that it has more stiff tentacles thing on its neck and has a splash along with the change of the speed and way it goes back into the water
after a year of not watching this guy I come back and wonder "yo is that speedy bro, what's with Ur voice" and I just go "ohhh"
I think that keeping multiple varients would be the coolest for the peepers!
A red Alpha Peeper would be SICK
The effect of having a creature of that size is incredible. It's something that is very interesting to play around with
The animation could use a bit of tweaking still. I actually really like the first part of the animation, with the Leviathan jumping out and then falling again, even though the splash should still be much bigger and noticeable (honestly at this size, it should be like a nuke just went off). I think what's more of a problem is the second part of the animation. The way the rest of the body dives into the water should be a smooth and stable arch and really shouldn't actually be visible above the water this much. Meaning that the point where the leviathan dives should remain the same, as the rest of the body is just following the same movement, but instead that diving point seems to shift left and right. I think that is one of the things that unfortunately makes it look like the leviathan is just an animation running behind the horizon, rather than an active part of the environment.
But even so, I love the effect of the scene and what the mod does as a whole. It's easy to see the flaws when we already expect the scene and have seen it several times. But I remember seeing it for the first time and just being amazed and excited that someone was willing to expand on the idea of the deep sea beyond the world border and the lore behind old leviathans
When this releases im grinding this for at least a couple hundred hours this mod looks great to practice my kil- my skills
Well, when you do, let me know if you find anything cool :)

I hope they use different variants of the Alpha Peeper for different Biomes or areas, like the Dark Purple one is in the void, the green one is in the lost river, the rainbow one is in the cove tree area, and the other purple one maybe in the blood kelp.
Yeah I was thinking something like that too. They probably wouldn’t spawn in the surface biomes
You’re a Subnautica God
The fact that the Leviathan swam out of the deepest depths of the map (it jumped out of the damn dead zone) just to snatch the Sunbeam out of the sky is legendary
Hey speedymouse I luv you vids!!!
Hope the Gary enjoys his new chew toy
I feel like the tail shouldn't completely go as high in the air it should just be as high as the body and you should be able to see a shadow in the water before the garg comes out
I think the rainbow alpha peeper should spawn at the safe shallows, green around the islands, purple next to the void and purple+black should be near the void too. I also think a dark red one near the red grass biome(forgot the name) should be awesome but I love red.
When did your voice get so deep? I remember watching your videos a while ago and you sounded much younger!
