  • If you are looking to buy an interchangeable lens mirrorless camera in 2024 for your travel vlogs or run and gun filming and if you are probably looking into buying a Panasonic G9ii, Panasonic GH7, Fujifilm Cameras or a Sony A6700 or a Sony FX30, then this is the video for you where I compare these cameras in terms of convenience and usability in filming, photographing, editing, build quality and most importantly, the budget! But by the end of the day the choice is yours and I hope after watching this video, you make an informed decision in choosing the camera or the camera system that’s right for you. I made this video in a story format about my decision making process based on my experiences and believe that by sharing my experience, you can make the right decision based on your experience and needs. This is the longest comparison video I’ve ever made on this channel, so please brace yourself. If you want to skip to the parts you are interested to know, I’ve made the chapter marking which you can find in the description below.
I purchased the Panasonic G9ii in 2023 as this seems to be THE complete package for travel vloggers and run and gun film makers. Or so I thought. It can shoot,
26MP photos and can also shoot and compute Hi-Res in-camera processed photos.
It can shoot up to 4K 120FPS 10-bit 4:2:2 and 5.8K 10-bit 4:2:0 internally, or something like that.
Decent Dynamic Range and Autofocus for photos and videos.
Excellent image stabilization and weather Sealing
But practically, how did it do???
With the weight and its usability, is it actually worth the money for this purpose?
That is the question I am trying to answer in this video by comparing the Sony A6700 with G9ii and GH7 (which is close to GH6 in body but closer to G9ii in technology, but better). I’ve completely shifted to using only the Sony A6700 and DJI Pocket 3 for my travel and I should say that I am pretty satisfied with this arrangement.

EXTREMELY helpful video! I was thinking of getting a G9ii but I have an A7C and 5 lenses, so the A6700 can use all those lenses and based your assessment, it'll be a smarter buy for me. Thanks so much!
Tip: I'm a professional video editor and I notice you mention you record your videos at the 600 mb/s setting. This is overkill and placebo bitrate. RUclips recommends an upload bitrate of 45 mb/s for 4k footage 30 fps and below. You can record at 50 mb/s or 100 mb/s (if you want some overhead for color grading) to save on storage and file transfer times. You, and your viewers, won't notice any difference in quality once it's on RUclips.

Wow.. Thank you so much for the tip.
I find that HS codec @280mb/s is really good and I am using it right now.
I will see how the other bitrates are working for me.
Thank you for the info. Great tip! :)
Thank you for watching the video and I am glad it was helpful. :)

@@AlissaAndJay Yeah man! Try it out. I have a client who does professional cooking videos for a top brand in the US. They use Blackmagic cameras and shoot at a bitrate of 200 mb/s. For RUclips uploading/vlogs, anything past 100 is going to be placebo and will just eat up storage space / make transfer speeds take longer. Go down to 50 or 100, you won't see any difference, and it will help with overheating issues as well! All the best.

Seriously bro, comments like these make it worth the effort I put into making these videos. I hope more people can watch them and find value from it.
On a different note, apart from the spelling errors, how is my video editing from the POV of professional video editor? I am looking into making engaging videos, and also I know I have to improve in sound and music department...

do you have any overheating issues with the 6700? Only thing holding me back

    • @AlissaAndJay
      @AlissaAndJay  4 дня назад +1

If you film in 600Mbps format for more than 5 minutes, yes, it gets hot. But shows overheat warning in 20 minutes mark but get really hot and shuts down at about 30 minutes.
But while travelling I shoot shots bursts for not more than 10 minutes. If that's your style of filming, it shouldn't be a problem for you.
If you shoot in HS mode, you will need to be in a very hot environment and record for really long time to get it to overheat. But yeah, it will overheat.
But to be honest, FX30 heats up pretty fast as well. But sustain it heat longer than A6700.
      G9ii heats up too..
Most cameras at this price range heats up. But yeah, shouldn't be an issue.
If you want to record long format videos like lectures, events, etc, then this may not be the camera for you and also if you have an a6700 and you want to record for a prolonged period of time, then you should choose HS or S format 4K.

But I suggest you to hold the camera and test it out yourself before you buy.

    Do you recommend Sony A6700?
    Or Nikon Z6iii

    • @AlissaAndJay
      @AlissaAndJay  4 дня назад +1

If you are not looking for a travel vlogging camera, you don't mind the weight and if you need 6k internal RAW recording, then z6iii.
For travel vlogs, for most cases a6700 will do. Z6iii is more useful in many other cases and it is almost double the price.
So it depends on your needs.
There's always something better than what we need. But understanding what we need is essential.

I am assuming you might want to do it professionally at some point in the future.
Also, I am assuming that you are still not in either Sony or Nikon systems yet, but considering them.
Considering that, you will need a
      - Fullframe camera for better low light capability.
      - Zoom telepoho lens for versatility.
      - You are more likely to use a monopod / tripod, so weight is secondary.
I suggest No FF camera from Sony cos they do not provide good value for money unlike the Nikon cameras. You can either decide on Z6iii or Z8 with 70-200mm, 100-400 or 180-600mm lens depending on your shooting style. I'd prefer Z8 over Z6iii.
Canon do have fantastic cameras and lenses too.
R5C is very light to use and you can go with Canon R5C/R5(used) or even R6ii(used)+ 100-500mm lens.
I suggest using USED Canon cameras as they will be replaced soon to a newer version.
This is another choice you can consider.
      There is 1 more choice:
Lumix S5ii / Sony A1 (if you have the budget)
Sigma 60-600mm (heavy lens but very versatile.
If you are using a tripod.
This could be your ideal set up.
I am giving you the above choice as I saw one of your videos and looks like you film with tripod.

      Okay great.
So, I find 16-55mm an overkill lens. If you want absolutely best in everything, you can choose it. Best lens at its focal length.
But if you can have some compromise on AF, you can go to 3rd part lenses like Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 lens or tamron 17-70mm lens.
