When I buy this unit I plan to use 14 gauge wire to plug in to the push in out to the pigtail connectors on the more delicate wires.

Thanks for this video sir, after watching I decided to replace my 25 yr old genie intellicode door opener, it was ultra loud and no remotes that i purchased worked with it. Since it was replacing the old unit i didn't have to do everything from scratch which is why i followed your video as opposed to others. It was an easy but long install, you were right about the instructions, extremely good!! You were also right about the wiring connectors, terrible!!! I ended up wrapping each wire back on itself to make it thicker. I also connected the transmitter white wires together and striped wires together so i only had to enter one wire into each terminal on the opener. My old wires were installed right on top of the rail of the opener so i had to tie in extra wire to extend the wire so i could install the wiring on the ceiling. Those things in the packaging that hold the wire in place were useless for me, the wire kept popping up. Luckily i have a staple gun and used that instead to secure the wiring to the wall. I did use electric tape to cover the wires over the terminal so they don't fall out. I did make a trip to home depot, i needed longer steel bars (32in) to attach the opener to the ceiling than what was provided, so i got 2 36in bars that i cut down to 32 in with a reciprocating saw. The transmitters previously installed are the same as those included so i kept those installed, works like a gem. Took me about 6hrs in total, mostly due to wiring, splitting the wired and white wires apart is a pain, i needed to use an exacto knife. Unlike yours, both of My wireless remotes were pre-programmed and the rest of the setup was extremely easy. Now I'll also do the other garage door, it'll likely take me half the time on that one.
    Thanks for the video

your door is very very unbalanced. i can tell because it opens very slow and closes very fast. your springs need to be adjusted, i’d recommend calling someone to do it unless you know how. great job with the motor.

Thanks for the tips! I had to open and close the door by hand for a few days before I got the new motor installed. It felt pretty good so I decided to hold off on the springs. I will need to replace the springs some day soon so that will be another video.

The ‘“c” stands for comparable, so it is not 1-1/4 hp. It is probably a 1/2 hp. 👎👎

I don't understand how manufactures get away with the deceptive numbers but the opener has been working fantastic. I love how strong and quit it is.

Enjoyed your instructions very much! You are a very good teacher ! Would you have chosen another brand when all said and done ? Thanks, Brian.

Greetings, I cleaned sensors, bought two new different remotes, erased all memory... indoor button works fine all the time. Both new remotes must be pressed several times or it works on the first time and then not. Wires seem to be fine even when I wiggle them sensors do not flicker. How can I trouble shoot the geniue motor? Installed 2004. Thank you.

Nice video, I think I will connect the red and black wires together before I insert them in and make it so I only have to insert 1 wire.
After seeing your frustration I would not want to repeat it.

I see they have one at home depot for $78. It says comes with 7ft rails and my current one has 9 ft rail so guess I would have to move back or find another one that comes with longer rails. My current one is chain driven so I'm looking for something quite. How are you liking this one?

I really like the opener. It's quite, fast, strong and simple to adjust. As for the 9 foot door, I'm pretty sure you can buy a kit for this unit for larger doors. The kit would have a longer bar and belt.

@@riderescue The door is 7ft but the rail that goes from opener to the door is only 7ft, my rail is 9ft. Guess i could move the hanger 2 ft closer.

My door is 7ft so you may be right to move the hanger closer.

I already have a LiftMaster chain I'm going to replace with this one or a similar Genie can I just use the existing wire that's already in the house for the eyes and head unit? Ty

Did u have to replace wall existing remote? Or can u use existing one?

    • @riderescue

I believe most all of the push button wall units are 2 wires so you can reuse your old wall unit. Try it and if it works great. If not, switch it out.
