    Really great install there is just two tips I recommend your safety sensors on the bottom of the garage doors are supposed to be mounted 6 inches above the garage floor and then lubricate your garage door so you get all the noise out of it and then your emergency release rope and handle is missing in case if the power goes out

Mine looks identical to yours.(light duty).Genie strongly recommends a heavy reinforcement bracket on the door as well as angle running across the top lip to prevent it from tearing and buckling. When you wired up the sensors what ever color is on top should go in number 1. The wire from both sensors. So if it's red you should have 2 reds in 1. Make sure you strip the wires back before installing them. The bottom wire on the sensor should go in 2, both sensors. For the wall control, white in 3 and the striped wire in 4. Watch from about the 7:45 mark on.

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 года назад

      Yes. You cut the brackets to whatever length you need them to be. You want the garage door opener rail to be slightly angled. But high enough that you can open the door freely and not hit the rail or opener. Your instructions should give you the angle that they want you to use if they want you to use one. But it won't be a large angle.

      @HomeRepairHub  Год назад

      Did you buy both remotes together? I doubt it's the motor if the button inside works fine. It's there an antenna, wire coming out of the opener? If you point the remotes at the opener from inside the garage, do you have the same issue, or is it just from outside the garage?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 года назад

      According to Genie 3 blinks is interference in the beam. If it's 2 blinks it's misaligned or defective sensor. 4 blinks would essentially be a defective sensor. I would suggest checking all your wiring again, make sure your alignment is good, and if that doesn't help get a couple more Genie sensors and replace the existing ones. If that fixes the issue go back to where you bought it and see if you can return the defective sensors.

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  4 года назад +3

      I actually wondered the same thing initially, but the answer is no. When you initially setup the keypad you have to hit the learn button on the opener, or the black program button depending on your model, and that syncs the keypad with the opener. If you reset the keypad you will have to resync the keypad with the opener which requires you to hit that learn or program button. The opener has to be in learn mode before it will pick up the keypad.

    • @HomeRepairHub

      The spring system is what takes the weight off the door. Your opener will not work if you remove the springs as it's not powerful enough to lift the door by itself. So unless you installed new springs, do not remove the springs.

    • @HomeRepairHub

      It will sag a little but not that much. If it's not sagging below the bar when the door is closed you are probably fine. If you are seeing a lot of sagging when it lifts the door that maybe due to an issue with the springs. You also want to make sure the nuts on the side of the turnbuckle are tight otherwise the belt could loosen up.

    • @leonydisla7887

      @@duckalum1999 So the drive socket rotates with the gear shaft on the motor, it will not spin freely. If you go to about 2:35 in the video you will see me installing the belt. I realize it does look the drive socket is rotating with the belt but it isn't, I am manually moving it. That is the result of speeding up the video. You can then see at about 2:43 I have to go back and adjust the belt because I don't have enough slack to install the turnbuckle. I am not able to just rotate the drive socket and move the belt it has to be manually adjusted. Does this help or are you asking something else?

    this is a great video brother, Thank you for share. But I have a quick question for you? how much do you charge to install it ( 1 car garage just like yours). Thank you. May God bless you and your family. Unfortunately, I cannot click like Bottom more than one time. 👍👍👍😁😁😁😁

    Well, this garage door comes with all the bell and whistles of a modern day device (wifi, app, Alexa, 3D installation app). It is as easy as it gets when it comes to installing a garage door opener if you're a handy man but I would hire a professional if you're not a handy man. The problem with this Genie is that the manual and even installation app lack the details and did not emphasis important points before installation. A nice big yellow bold note "BEFORE YOU INSTALL" Points would be nice.
    Here comes the con:
    1. You must install EVERYTHING including the ground sensor for the opener to work or it WILL NOT work. I tried to test the unit before mounting on the ceiling and it would not work.
    2. You MUST program the close and open distance before using the wall mount controller. After the programing, do a complete open and close run for the motor to test the tension of your garage door.
    3. The Plastic UP/DOWN/PROGRAM button are horrible and cheap. My PROGRAM button would not click due to the a defect plastic button. I had to remove the shell where the real buttons are and program from there. It's easier to do it with the shell off.
    It took me and another person 2 days (6 hours day) to install this due to the lack of details in the manual and the lack of important emphasis points in the manual.

    Well, the programming went OK but now when I use the wall switch it only goes up about a foot or two and stops. The LED red and green are on so there’s nothing in the way Jeannie wants you to wait one hour to get service.

    How do I connect the buckle to the belt? My belt just keeps spinning around and it doesn’t hook with the buckle. Thanks

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  4 года назад

      Do you mean connecting the turnbuckle? Check out 02:39 in the video. Or is the turnbuckle connected but the belt does not stop and won't catch on the carriage? If the belt isn't catching the carriage it s because the carriage in the release position.

      @tzahui 4 года назад

      @@HomeRepairHub Correct, the turnbuckle isn't catching the carriage, so the belt just keep spinning. I will try that solution, just lock the carriage, right. Thanks man

    you really should reinforce the top section of garage door with a metal strut or a piece of angle iron running the full horizontal length of the door regardless of door construction. I guarantee when that spring breaks and you hit the button to operate the door, it will bend and damage that top section right down the middle.

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 года назад +1

      If you have a piece of string or rope, wrap it around one sensor and the pull it across the door opening to the other sensor and wrap it around that. Then just make sure the beam follows the same line as the string.

    I don’t understand how the turnbuckle connects into the black thing

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  4 года назад

      The turnbuckle will snap into place on the trolley as soon as the turnbuckle is sent through the trolley. Now if it does not, that means the release is engaged. On the trolley there is a plastic piece at the bottom with a hole in it, if that piece has the hole pointing down the release is engaged. The release is supposed to be horizontal. I don't have a video posted but look up how to manually open a garage door. It will explain how the turnbuckle connect to the trolley. It's pretty similar for all brands.
