How on God's Earth can a hairstyle be racist??????? Definition of Racism = "Racism is discrimination and prejudice towards people based on their race or ethnicity. Racism can be present in social actions, practices, or political systems (e.g. apartheid) that support the expression of prejudice or aversion in discriminatory practices. The ideology underlying racist practices often assumes that humans can be subdivided into distinct groups that are different in their social behavior and innate capacities and that can be ranked as inferior or superior". As long as they are treating everyone equal, It's not discrimination at all. If you have a rule, that is the rule. You can't start making cultural exceptions for some as it opens things up to interpretation on all dress codes. With that being said, it's 2023 and hair length is a stupid rule. Don't make an exception for one race, change the rule.
Out here in Jamaica, it's predominantly black, and there is a dress code. The boys have to cut their hair low even if you have "good hair." If you're a rastafarian/ dreadlocks, it's only permitted if you are religiously a rasta, so you must have proof, and then you have to wear the head tie. Also our schools in Jamaica other than University level wear uniforms. So I think American culture is just free for all where they think everything is racism or discrimination. Even how the American teens dress half naked, wear makeup and bleached hair and stuff is weird to me. That's why many Jamaicans let their kids finish school in Jamaica before migrating.

I dont think its racist, if a white guy had the same hairstyle he would also be in the same trouble. I think those hairstyles look ridiculous in a general sense (just like white people and the huge punk rock spikes, bowl cuts, etc), but if someone wants to look like that (whatever skin color they are) then by all means do it. I wouldn't let you represent my company, though. At a school, I don't see a problem having hair like that. If you are in a meeting, that haircut is just under the line of being reasonable. You look at those hairstyles where the people look like walking naval mines and thats completely inappropriate for a professional setting. I think the same way of mullets. So it isn't racist, its about taste and conduct.
With everything that is going on in this world we’re going to worry about a student’s hairstyle? I could understand if it was somehow offensive (fuck you carved into his hair eg) but it’s neat and well kept. Would I wear my hair like that? No I wouldn’t but to say that hair style should be against any dress code is just wrong.
Its not "a students hairstyle", its about a student who knew the rules beforehand (they are in the school handbook that both parent and student sign at the beginning of the year). The kid cant follow the same rules everyone around him is following.
The boys colour or race has nothing to do with it , if he was white with the same hair it would be the same outcome. The idea of a dress code and grooming code is to prevent kids being singled out and reduce bullying based on image and appearance. The kids are representing the school and neatly groomed uniform appearance looks good in the eyes of the public
Why the hell are they worried about his damn hair? And honestly I would like to see how this kid acts in school as well. But should not be suspended over hair

It just seems so weird to me, in the 90's people cared more about cool shoes and who had a better flip phone or pager. Now we're talking about suspending people over hairstyles. It's also bad enough we have schools where kids don't know math, how to read, history, or science it seems. But yes, lets keep worrying about hairstyles cause that matters more than a good education.
That happened much more often in the 90s
Sorry, I went to HS from 88-1992, and we got suspended for dress code violations then, too.

Hair does not have a religion or race? This needs to be called out and challenged.
I think you miss understood this one. The hairstyle is not racist. They are saying the fact that hes suspended for wearing the hairstyle is racist.
that's why they have the crown act
@@mmphase2 but the code being in place and being enforced amoung all students is not racist. He is not singled out for his race, but for his hairstyle not meeting code. A boy of any other race would have the same code enforced on them also.
@@dragonusa I was explaining the complaint. I never said I thought it was racist. The complaint is that he is being singled out for his hairstyle which is something his "race" commonly wears. not that his hairstyle is racist
Ironically the school is called "Barbers"....lol

I wouldn't let you represent my company, though. At a school, I don't see a problem having hair like that. If you are in a meeting, that haircut is just under the line of being reasonable. You look at those hairstyles where the people look like walking naval mines and thats completely inappropriate for a professional setting. I think the same way of mullets.
