  • Here is a card game that is still one of the very best out there in recent years. And it has a very solid solo option as well! By User: GameRulesforOne on BGG, this remains one of the more clever solo adaptations that still holds its own, from a time when solo tabletop gaming was hardly heard of (apprx. 2010) Here is a link for the solo rules:

I enjoyed it then and every bit as much even today. In this video I go over what the game is about in a general sense and how the solo rules interact with gameplay to give you an idea if it might be worth your while. It will help greatly if you already know or have played the game in its "normal" format. If you know nothing about the game, here is a link to one of JonGetsGames videos on it, in his early days, it's great!

Thank you for doing this video. I wanted to try this solo variant but the rules were a pain and I lost interest. I'll have to revisit it now that I've seen a few rounds.

Yes, many of this user's solo variants are like learning a whole new game, in this case, with rules longer than the original rulebook! But once you grasp how the chart is used, it all falls in place nicely and plays very quick with a ton of depth. Good luck!

I've been writing my own summary document to learn the rules. The only thing I am not crazy about is all the cards that have been changed to "No Action". So, when you are playing, you have to constantly refer to the rules to see if the card you want to use is in the list of ones that have been 'modified'. Have you found an easy way to handle this?

@@larrye I would suggest sleeving up all your cards (cuz you'll be playing them to death solo) and just mark somewhere on the face up side a little "tick" of some sort, like a dash. That way you'll know that card is "no action" at a glance. :) glad to hear you're looking to get it on the table!

The "no action" mark in the solo rules is only for automa player or for human player To?
What the world splayed meen in the rules?

It looks like an interesting game, how close is this variant to the original would you guess? Does it feel like playing the original game? Do you care? :P

The rule set for the solo is like a whole new game on top of the original. The normal play has nothing but the cards to keep track of, no chart, and no one "pays" to use the actions or discards points to purchase achievements. You simply have to have them showing and compare symbols each time. Likewise, you'll keep your "scored" cards in a pile that simply accumulates, allowing you to purchase achievements, just gotta show that you have a high enough score. LOTS of take that in this game, but its mitigated with how absurdly fun and quick the tables can turn with one card! I've actually played this more multiplayer than solo, and playing teams of 2 vs 2 is our fave way to play!

@@boardgamerants it sounds very different indeed! Fair job to the solo designer who foresaw the potential and the practical to make this

bgg fanboy... very hard to follow video. Sold it, because it tanked multiplayer, and I doubt the solo is better. Btw the art for this us version is atrocious, get yourself the european version.
