    We have installed several of these and you won't have any clearance problems unless the car is lowered. The header is still the lowest point.

      Clearance isn't the issue, the missing reinforcement plate is the problem.

    I can't believe he said the exhaust wasn't up to par. I bet that Flowmaster cat back would've sounded way better.

      They took out the flowmasters, nothing sounds better on pushrod engines than flowmasters

    • @milano61
      @milano61 8 лет назад +1

      +David Martin When he said that the exhaust system wasn't up to par he wasn't talking about how it would sound. The new engine flows more exhaust gas volume and the whole system needed to be larger. Maybe they went with Magnaflow simply for a different sound. Sure are a lot of Mustangs out there with Flowmasters. Dare to be different.

      3 inch Flowmaster system

    • @milano61
      @milano61 8 лет назад +2

      David Martin They went with 2.5 inch exhaust because it's a street car, not a drag car. 3 inch for high rpm, 2.5 inch for street torque at lower revs.

    Bill, you said it was a 2" 1/2" stainless steel exhaust in the video, the video heading said 3"; which is it, Thanks, Chris Lynn

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 лет назад +2

      The system installed is the Magnaflow 2.5 in system. It is available in both 2.5 inch and 3 inch version and installs the same way. I will get a correction added here. Thanks

    What is the benefit of having an X-pipe ? In the exhaust system ?
    Won't the X-pipe give exhaust "Drone" at 1400 to 1700 RPM ?

    Not bad, nice and pretty install. Glad my Magnaflows sound a lot better then these, probably a different model. Mine is on a 460 big block in a 67 Mustang.

    Noticed you didn't put the center brace back in. That's because the 2.5" system is too large to fit above the center brace. The center brace gives convertibles a little extra support since it doesn't have a solid roof. I had the same system and issue so I didn't install the x-pipe section and had straight pipes created.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 8 лет назад +1

      +Quang B Most of the support comes from the one piece seat platform, a bolt on brace will provide a little extra support but it won't hurt to remove it either. This car has additional subframe connectors too.

    • @Lilzsnr
      @Lilzsnr 5 лет назад +3

      What nonsense. The car came with the plate from Fords so that between the plate, the tunnel and the reinforced seat pans a box section is formed.
      Without the plate it becomes a C section and significantly weaker than a box section.

    I have a 1969 Mach 1 with a 351W. I have shorty headers due to rack and pinion and T-5 swap. Do they have an application for shorty headers or is it the same as the stock manifold as far as Magnaflow part numbers go?

    Hello Bill, I have noticed on the video that you have removed the center reinforcement plate subframe that we have on 67 convertible mustang. Is it ok for a safe driving ? I plan to install Global west subframes to improve rigidity..Is it enough and is it the reason why you have removed the center reinforcement plate ? Thank you very much for your answer. :-)

    • @Lilzsnr
      @Lilzsnr 5 лет назад

      Jar VIS Came to comments to question the same thing. No reinforcement plate is a no no. These cars flex with the plate just putting them on a lift.

    hello bill i just purchase this system for my 1968 mustang GT/CS with a J code 302 with stock exhaust manifolds....my question is will this system hook up to my stock exhaust manifold?

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 лет назад

      The headpipes off the X pipe will reach the factory manifold location but you would have to fabricate a flange to connect the bare Magnaflow pipe to the flange on your factory manifold.
