firstly Kudos for being one of the first people in a challenge to finally use bagged coleslaw! that is one id get cause u can stirfy or have it as a salad or put in a soup. how amusing is it that Aus we seem to not get the challenge experiences. i reckon you managed to get some decent food in terms of vegis n fruit .
Should do this challenge again with the same items and see if there is much difference in the cost with all this food price increases we have been having
Nice work, I did a meal plan for $15 for 5 days at Woolies, pretty similar items. I'd have been slammed way worse as I didn't have any fruit and only a bit of veg. Still it was enough food to live on if that's all you had to spend.
Love it ! Despite the negativity I hope you will do more I know you may not be able to replicate the 20 dollar but maybe try shop by shop like woolworths or coles challenge - cheapest you can do with them etc Dollar stores or etc
I would have bought some beef or pork mince for the pasta. Sausages are always cheap. The Aldi cheap noodles would have saved you the extra money for some protein.
Home made vinaigrette or mustard or any other kind of dressing. Or make a marinade. Or season with curry powder, or other spices. Or lightly ferment the veggies (sauerkraut style, using naturally occurring lactobacillus converted to lactic acid).
I don't get why people got agro with ya. I think it's brillaint. You wouldn't/couldn't live off this long term but that wasn't the point. For someone doing it really tough this would be helpful.
would love to see a woman do this with $20 mainly because they eat a lil less and could have a lil more luxury... or even a fortnight on $40 because you wouldn't eat all the bulk items so you could spread the meals out and add a lil luxury.
@@dangerboy1111 It used to be cheaper. Not that much difference in price, and some things are even more expensive than other shops. Gestapo like bag searches that treat you like a criminal. I can't think of any other store that does that.
@@dangerboy1111 It depends what your after. I shop at Coles. Plenty of mark downs that Aldi can only dream about. No Gestapo like bag interrogation as well. Flemington markets on Saturday for my fruit and vegetables as well as fish.
@@boggy6060 mate had his bag searched once and swore off Aldi lol. Of course farmer's markets are going to be cheaper. Aldi is like half the price of Coles or Woolies for the exact same product, they're by far superior.
This is actually a good video to show international students how much money they can spend on groceries. So good work!
crazy that you could buy 1kg of froz veg for $1.50 less than a year ago. I went to buy a 1kg of peas and corn last week and it was $7.00!
Good work, this helps for people struggling with money/budgets 😊 loved the intro haha
Thankyou, finally an Aussie budget video, and very relevant right now

bagged coleslaw mix is always in my fridge. Underappreciated item by many for sure!

Yes 👍🏼
I'm just going to do it myself, it would still be a great budget week regardless of price increases.
@@lilyandrose8557How did it go?

Pasta. Frozen vege. Canned vege. Dried vege. Egg. Easy ways to save money.
salad sandwich?? that's not very appetizing... how can you fix that meal to be more appetizing??
Home made vinaigrette or mustard or any other kind of dressing.
Or make a marinade.
Or season with curry powder, or other spices.
Or lightly ferment the veggies (sauerkraut style, using naturally occurring lactobacillus converted to lactic acid).
He used the dip as a spread, you also use mayo, mustard, chutney...

Aldi is hugely overrated. I hate shopping there.
